Now available for auction is this 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo finished in Black over a black leather interior.  Marking the final iteration of the air-cooled 911 Turbo, this two-owner 993 has been very well cared for throughout its lifetime in Florida and California, accompanied by a collection of service records dating back to the original purchase.  Showcasing an Exclusive aluminum shifter and brake handle as well as supple leather seats with Porsche crested headrests, this handsomely appointed 1997 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California while showing just over 44k miles on the odometer.

This Turbo comes finished in Black and features wide bodywork complementing the color-match rear spoiler.  The car has been recently treated to a full paint correction, ceramic coating, and new clear stone guards applied over the rear fenders. The seller states that the passenger-side front fender was professionally replaced and refinished by an authorized Porsche dealer in 2011 to address damage sustained when the car struck a curb on the freeway.  All other body, brake, and suspension components were replaced as necessary during this time to ensure the car was repaired up to Porsche’s standards, a corresponding invoice totaling over $40k is provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The factory lightweight 18” Technology hollow-spoke wheels come dressed in a set of new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black leather with supple leather seats featuring Porsche crested headrests as well as a shifter and brake handle in aluminum. Other features include a power sliding sunroof, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, a 6-disc CD changer, Litronic xenon headlights, an onboard computer, and CR-210 radio, all of which are said to be working properly.  The cabin is described to have been very well kept with minimal signs of wear on the seating surfaces.

This 993 is equipped with a 3.6L twin-turbocharged flat-six engine which sends up to 408 HP and 398 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission.  Compared to its predecessor, the 993 Turbo uses two smaller K-16 turbochargers and dual-charge air intercoolers resulting in greatly improved throttle response at lower RPM. The dynamic limited-slip system with Active Brake Differential (ABD) and a limited-slip differential are equipped as standard.  A vast collection of records details a lifetime of maintenance carried out by authorized Porsche dealers, including an invoice from 2010 showing a major engine-out service and transmission rebuild to have been performed at 34k miles.  Several engine seals and gaskets were replaced to address oil leaks in 2013 and an overhaul of the ignition system was completed in 2017 at just under 43k miles.  Corresponding records are provided in the gallery along with a recent service invoice and pre-purchase inspection from Porsche Rocklin in June of 2021.

This sale will include a set of keys, service records, and a clean title.  Thoroughly documented and maintained to a very high standard, this increasingly sought-after 993 Turbo is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.

I’d be buying this if I didn’t buy the black turbo last week! Someone can make some big $$ on this car if it has a clean carfax. Clean it up and sell it for $250k with that mileage!

  • FlatSixer (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Thanks for the quick reply. Good news on the door straps. I'm still confused by that PPI because the invoice date shows "24Jun21" and the millage out for that PPI shows 44,044. I assume that this was from June of this year before you guys got the car? The PPI was from Porsche Rocklin.

  • scriscra (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Most if not all of the concerns raised by the previous commenter are from the PPI dated 24JUN2021 -- not 2013. Buyer beware.

  • responsemotors (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@flatsixer the inspection you're referencing I believe is from 2013. The inspection we did only a month ago can be seen at the bottom of the gallery and includes paint meter readings. We did not see the issues outlined in the 2013 inspection nor do we have much visibility into that inspection other than the report.

Concerning the door straps they are fine and do not pop. I am aware of the issue you're concerned about on the 993s when the door check starts to pull out of the a-pillar, that is not happening on this Turbo. On this car the door checks are solid, not pulling out, or making noise.

Concerning corrosion the previous owner had Porsche refinish the bottoms of the doors, that is all I know. From our inspection the quality of the paintwork is excellent, there is no sign of any rust bubbles.

Also do either door's straps (left or right) have any popping or failure issues. Is it possible to do a quick video w/ sound showing both doors opening and closing and a close ups on each door strap as you swing the door in and out a bit. Thanks

  • FlatSixer (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@responsemotors Good morning. Per Jahan's question, the PPI (photos 207-213) show many issues. Can you let us know which have been corrected and which haven't? If they have, please provide receipts if the work has been completed. I'm most interested in the non normal wear & tear items below. I know its a lot but will really help me in the bidding process. Thanks much.

    1) odometer is broken
    2) poor repaint job
    3) drive's window is noisy and needs to be removed to inspect
    4) clutch/pedal issue
    5) the oil seepage
    6) turbo oil lines
    7) transmission belly pan cracked and missing a tab (why? possible accident?)
    8) engine oil leak/through bolts
    9) mismatched front shocks
    10) rear cross-member and sub-frame replaced (why? possible accident?)
    11) left front drop link ball is damaged
    12) right front oil cooler has been replaced (why? possible accident?)
    13) tub repair (from the 2011 slide off the road incident?)
    14) liquid in the tool roll ???
    15) shifter rattles and shakes in gears 1, 3, 5
    16) steering vibrates at freeway speed and when braking

    Dear seller
Please clarify your comment about a previous owners concern about corrosion? Also, has the car been inserted for corrosion on your end or any documentation stating otherwise? It’s one thing painting a fender due to roadside damage, but a major concern on a 25 year old car where a previous owner had concerns of corrosion and painted possible over it 10 years ago for concealment etc.

  • responsemotors (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Our PPI will be posted shortly which shows the full inspection and service along with the paitn meter readings.

This 993 Turbo most certainly has not had a full respray. Our records and paint meter readings show the front right fender was done and the bottoms of each door were touched up due to corrosion concerns (previous owner's words) over 10 years ago.

  • Jahan (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Hi: PPI Report indicated a lot of issues . Have they all been taken care of?

  • PoorscheMan 2 years, 6 monthsago

@tommysita I'm a newbie to this stuff, but I now understand your point. I simply assumed that at $8K, it was a respray of the entire car. But that's not necessarily true. Thanks.

  • tommysita (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@PoorscheMan thank you for the response but just trying to figure out the different readings. i don't mind resprays but need to establish where we are and different readings.

  • PoorscheMan 2 years, 6 monthsago

@tommysita I think the entire car was resprayed. There is a $7,850 bill for paint work at the time of the $40K damage repair.

  • PoorscheMan 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Jahan the accident receipts are there. They are from Rector Motor Car Co. Three pages. It took me a while to find them.

  • Jahan (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Hi: is the problem with oil burn smell that the previous owner complained a few times resolved? Are there any oil , fluid leak issues?
I could not find the invoice for the accident repair work , is that available?
    Thank you

  • PoorscheMan 2 years, 6 monthsago

@responsemotors Understood. Thanks. Look forward to seeing PPI. Is it from a Porsche dealer?

  • tommysita (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Hi do you happen to have Paint Meter readings?

  • responsemotors (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@PoorscheMan concerning the PPI, yes we have a full inspection report we can share. I'll see about getting that uploaded

Concerning the vehicle history, the vehicle history report is clean. Our extensive inspection and thorough analysis of the records along with speaking with the previous owner showed the car had work done in the past due to the owner claiming he slide off the road, he did not hit another vehicle.

  • PoorscheMan 2 years, 6 monthsago

    @ResponseMotors

Do you have a recent PPI for this car?

  • PoorscheMan 2 years, 6 monthsago

Does anyone have any experience with this seller? They have this car listed on their website as a no accident car, but here they reveal $40K in accident damage - https://www.responsemotors.com/used-vehicle-1997-porsche-911-turbo-c-691/

Hello PCarMarket! I represent Response Motors which is an enthusiast dealership specializing in Porsche sales and service. On staff we have several top notch technicians, concours winning detailers, and most importantly true enthusiasts. We’re excited to offer this 993 Turbo specifically to the PCarMarket community to ensure it ends up with a Porsche enthusiast. We purchased this 993 Turbo directly from the second owner who took meticulous care of it. We have every record from the day it was built all the way to present. Our staff did a full thorough inspection, service, and polish/ceramic coating on the car bringing it up to show standards both mechanically and cosmetically.

    Now onto the questions:

@Rhmd1 the original owner of this turbo decided to take European delivery which is what is referenced in the documented email. It is a US spec car.

Concerning the fender repair, it is documented in the provided records shown in the auction. The owner told us he avoided an animal and ended up sliding off the road. He took it to Porsche and gave them a blank check with the instructions to make it perfect, which they did. All work was done by Porsche with brand new Porsche parts.

Happy to answer any other questions.

  • Rhmd1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@arminvb I am asking the seller, not another bidder to clarify the email. I know the difference between a US vs. Euro spec car. What I want is clarification on the email documentation and repair of fender. Please refrain responding unless you are the seller, which you are not.

  • arminvb (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Rhmd1 US specs, bumperettes on front and back. No one would spend extra money to add those on.

  • Rhmd1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Are there any photos pf the front end/ fender damage and repair? Or repair documents/receipts?

  • Rhmd1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Please Clarify if this is a U.S. Spec or Euro Spec car. There is an email in your documents stating its a Euro plate car. If it is a euro plate car... has it gone through all the necessary aspects for U.S.
    Thank you!
