The Land Rover Defender 90 is an iconic off-road vehicle known for its rugged design, durability, and exceptional off-road capabilities. This 1998 “Borneo Edition” underwent a comprehensive frame-off restoration, reportedly costing approximately $200k. Powered by a rebuilt 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission with high and low differential locks, it is refinished in Aston Martin British Racing Green over a reupholstered two-tone cognac and green leather interior. Extensive upgrades include a heavy-duty front bumper with a custom brush bar, a Vector 13,500 lb. winch, widebody conversion with flares, LED lighting, a custom off-road suspension system, custom console and door panels, a restored dash with custom gauges, a Momo steering wheel, and much more. This meticulously restored Defender 90 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Maryland.
This example has undergone a frame-off nut and bolt restoration, custom build, and a repaint in Aston Martin British Racing Green with a mirror finish. It features a custom and removable Stayfast tan canvas top, an upgraded heavy-duty front bumper with a custom brush bar, and a Vector winch with a 13,500 lb. capacity. The widebody conversion includes quarter panel guards and body-color flares, complemented by LED headlights and marker lights. It rides on bronze-finished 16” five-spoke bead lock alloy wheels wrapped in Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires, with a matching spare in the rear. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with an accident-free CARFAX report.
The interior features custom, all-weather design bucket seats upholstered in two-tone cognac and green leather and a fully customized console and matching door panels. The dash has been professionally restored in a color-coordinated scheme with custom gauges. Enhancements include an upgraded 3-spoke leather Momo steering wheel, a hidden digital audio system with upgraded speakers, and versatile AM/FM/USB/AUX stereo capabilities. Seating arrangements accommodate up to six passengers with inward-facing, foldable rear seats equipped with seatbelts and matching leather upholstery. All gauges and electronics are confirmed to be working properly, with no illuminated warning lights reported.
A rebuilt 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-four engine delivers power to all four wheels through a rebuilt 5-speed heavy-duty manual transmission with high and low differential lock capabilities. It boasts a custom off-road suspension system utilizing Raptor 4x4 polyurethane bushings along with a fast-ratio power steering and an upgraded cooling system. Stopping power is facilitated by cross-drilled and slotted disc brakes equipped with oversized calipers at all four corners. Following its restoration, the vehicle underwent its first service and inspection in preparation for sale.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a branded title (not actual miles).
The seller would like you to know: “This Defender is new in every way and is turn-key ready. It will bring lots of smiles and turn lots of heads. You can take it to cars and coffee or your local restaurant for a quick bite and will get plenty of thumb-ups and wows! We are excited for the new owner to enjoy this Defender for a long time to come!”

@egaffney Thank you for your questions. We (the dealership) had the Defender built by a shop in Italy. We have used them many times over the last few years. 2 & 3) the audio system will be hidden in the center console with speakers placed in the front and rear. 4)There are seatbelts in the rear for the seats. We will have the driving video uploaded Saturday as the weather here will be better its been raining
Attractive build. A few questions: (1) did the Seller do the build or was it a 3rd party and if so, who, (2) where is the audio system hidden, (3) where are the speakers, and (4) are there seat belts for rear seats. Any driving video? Thanks.
Beautiful!
