We are pleased to offer this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera S finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Classic Grey interior. Marking the final year of the air-cooled Porsche 911, this 1998 Carrera S is among the most desirable 993s of all with its low production numbers, wide bodywork, and unique split-grille rear decklid. It was delivered new to Blue Grass Motorsport of Kentucky with options including leather Sport Seats, the Motor Sound Package, and exclusive door sills and tailpipes in stainless steel. Less than 3k miles have been covered in the past 13 years and a major service was carried out recently including new timing cover gaskets, engine belts, shifter bushings, brake hoses, tires, a front crankshaft seal, and more. Showing under 50k miles on the odometer and accompanied by its original books and window sticker, this 993 C2S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This 993 comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic (l92U) and sports wide fenders, Turbo-style bumpers, and split-grille rear deckled unique to the Carrera S. Clear corner lenses have been installed in front, and the car rides on a set of upgraded 18” Fikse dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Both rear quarter panels were recently refinished following cosmetic damage caused by the removal of old stone guards. The seller notes the fender bolts were not turned during the repair and that fresh stone guards have been applied. The paint is described to be in excellent overall condition apart from a few small touched-up chips on the front end, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, you will find a Classic Grey interior (SB) with optional leather Sport Seats and exclusive stainless steel door sills with Carrera S model logos. Standard equipment includes automatic climate control with air conditioning, remote entry with alarm, a sunroof, power windows, electrically adjustable side mirrors, and a headlight cleaning system. This Carrera S is equipped with an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine featuring a Varioram resonant induction system, dual exhaust, and an output of up to 282 HP. A 6-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels while stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston “Big Red” Brembo brakes derived from the 911 Turbo. Major service carried out in September of 2021 included new rear brake pads and rotors, all new brake hoses, new clutch and brake pedal pads, a new front crankshaft seal, engine belts, shifter bushings, spark plugs, fluids, filters, lower front control arm bushings, timing cover gasket banks 1 and 2, timing tensioner gasket bank 2, and lower valve cover banks 1 and 2. @rnak You're welcome. We don't have records from before our ownership. That is one of the reasons we inspect and ultimately service our Porsches. Brings the car up to speed on anything that might not have been done. As for the brakes, that would have been done before we purchased it. Good luck bidding!

@rnak Most of the time you are correct and PPF comes off without a hitch. Sometimes when not using steam or if being too aggressive the film can pull the paint with it. This happened to me on my Murcielago as I was not being patient enough (I thought I was..) and it pulled the paint (original) with it. Luckily I was removing the film for paint work in other areas so we ended just painting more than I had initially planned.

Hello, @ChequeredFlag beautiful Porsche. Do you have pictures of the damage caused by removing the PPF on the quarters? Usually this process is pretty easy and does not cause paint damage. Also, when were the Turbo brakes added?

@CocoThunder The only thing i can say is that the door wouldn't meter if there were bondo. This 993 has had some paint and unfortunately they aren't sprayed by a perfect machine so there's bound to be some variation in thickness. There is no variation and again, none of the bolts have been turned so I highly doubt there was any damage to the door.

@ChequeredFlag Yes, there is typically a blend into the doors but if you look at the paint meter readings between the driver’s door and the passenger door you’ll see that the driver’s door is showing 14 microns while the passenger door is showing 5 microns. This would either indicate additional damage to the driver’s door since a blend would add approximately 3 microns on average as can be seen with the respray of the hood and right front fender. In other words it indicates a blend discrepancy from side to side at best or bondo work to the driver’s door at worst.
@CocoThunder I believe we submitted those but I will take a look. As for the doors, the listing mentions that the stone guards were replaced and the quarters were matched, and typically the body shop will do a blend into the doors to make sure the match is perfect and there's no color differentiation. The bolts have never been turned and the doors have not been off.
@ChequeredFlag Would you mind sharing paint readings of the Driver’s Rear as those are missing? Paint readings on the driver’s door are significantly higher than the rest indicating body work of some sort. Do you have details there? The Passenger Fender and Hood were also resprayed. Details on that?
