The ultimate air-cooled Porsche racing car and the last of its generation, the 993 GT2 Evo was intended for the Le Mans / BPR GT1 class and boasts an output of 600 HP from its twin-turbocharged engine. This 1998 example, chassis #0480056, was first campaigned by Freisinger Kaneco Racing in World Long Distance Championship events including the Rolex 24 at Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1999. It was sold by Freisinger to Mr. Paco Otri in 2000 who proceeded to race the car in the Spanish GT Championship over the next several years. This GT2 later saw races in the Club Championship Europa Open of France under the Modern Racing Team and was eventually subjected to a restoration by Velox Speed of Switzerland in 2018. Supported by a letter of provenance from Jürgen Barth as well as a recent service from a Porsche Classic Center, this historic GT2 Evo race car is now being offered for auction out of Switzerland.
The GT2 Evo includes larger fenders to accommodate wider tires than a standard GT2 along with a more aggressive front spoiler, larger air ducts, and a higher-mounted carbon fiber rear wing. The lightweight reinforced bodywork of this GT2 has been restored in its Freisinger-Kaneco livery from the 1999 racing season. Equipment includes front and rear decklid pins, tow hooks, adjustable wing mounts, an external fuel filler, lightweight Lexan windows, and 18” BBS wheels measuring 10” wide in front and 12.5” wide in the rear. The lightweight racing cockpit incorporates a full roll cage along with a Nomex-trimmed Recaro bucket seat and Schroth safety harness. Other accessories include air jacks, a fire suppression system, ventilation, a Sparco steering wheel, a radio antenna, a custom switch panel, and a raised shifter assembly.
Equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter M64/83 engine, the GT2 Evo develops 600 HP and 479 lb.-ft of torque using larger K24 turbochargers than a standard GT2 along with a modified intercooler, camshafts, oil cooler, and TAG-tronic 3.8 engine management system. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a Type 650/54 6-speed manual transmission with an external oil cooler, single-plate metal racing clutch, and asymmetric limited-slip differential. The restoration by Velox Speed in 2018 included a new FIA-homologated fuel cell, new Metalore axles, new oil level/temp sensors, rebuilt brake calipers, a rebuilt steering system, wheel alignment, custom fabricated caster plates, and more. The seller adds that another routine service was recently completed by a Porsche Classic Center.

@Goldenboy Hello, the car has its original factory chassis as it was never respelled. we have uploaded a picture of the 7 digit VIN found in the front compartment.
Would you please show pictures of the chassis number under the fuel cell and confirm this is the original factory chassis. Thank you
