To commemorate Porsche's 75th anniversary, the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge was launched to engage U.S. Porsche dealerships in showcasing their proficiency through the restoration of beloved models spanning from the 1950s to the 2000s. With access to an extensive inventory of more than 80,000 Porsche Classic genuine parts, Porsche technicians meticulously restore vehicles, ensuring expert attention to detail. This 1999 Carrera comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with Martini racing stripes and features color-coordinated interior accents, GT3 rockers, a ducktail spoiler, an upgraded Sport Exhaust kit, and more. This example is now being offered for auction out of New York while showing just under 94k miles on the odometer.
Factory finished in Arctic Silver Metallic, this Carrera has been adorned with iconic Martini racing stripes and decals. It has also been modified with a custom front bumper, GT3 rocker panels, and a rear ducktail spoiler. It rides on gloss black 19” Cayenne Design wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2021. The seller adds that the brake calipers have been refinished in red. A crack is noted in the front bumper and additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Within the Black cabin, the seats have been recovered and customized with Martini-style fabric seat inserts. Additionally, matching floor mats and red seat belts have been installed for a cohesive aesthetic. Equipment includes power-operated seats, door sills with Carrera script, a leather steering wheel with Tiptronic shift buttons, and an upgraded Porsche Classic Radio. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This first-generation 996 carries a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine that sends up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. As part of the restoration, a Sport Exhaust kit was installed, genuine Porsche Classic suspension and control arms were fitted, and the brakes and A/C compressor were replaced.
This sale will include a clean title and two keys.

@PSH11968 - as I recall the '99 tiptronic 911's have the lowest failure rate of all. Something like <.5%
@BigTomSesto1962 The 911 runs great. There is no rust. IMS and RMS have not been done. There is no leak.
How is it as a daily driver? Will it make it from the East Coast to California to show at Pacific Porsche?

@WH911 It is a Porsche Sport Exhaust installed with the valves in the open position.
Do you have information on the "sport exhaust kit"? Is it the valved exhaust that can be controlled via a switch?
What's that small wire going from the storage tray underneath the radio to the location underneath the wiper control button?
Nice job on the "resto". I just question spending the time/money investment on a tip-tragic. I guess there's someone for every car. GLWA
During the restoration process for this Porsche 996, I read that you did many things to restore the vehicle. My question is why didn't you replace the front bumper since it shows glaring damages at the front of this Porsche? I mean, you did everything else to to refurnish this vehicle for the Porsche Restoration Challenge...and it is evident you were successful by your high ranking, but it seems quite odd that you would not replace a damaged front bumper considering the fact that you completed so many other repairs to enter the PCNA Challenge.
So I’m assuming IMS is a dual row?

@JimClark We did not separate the transmission from the engine. It still has the original RMS and IMS bearing in it along with water pump assembly.

@PSH11968 Thanks for your answer. What about the "three amigos," RMS, IMS, AOS. Water pump/thermostat?
@JimClark The engine and trans were removed to fix a few minor oil leaks and also replace the engine compartment sound deadening. We also replaced the ac compressor. There were cooling lines on the transmisson that were also replaced. It was also cleaned when we had it out. We replaced all of the control units under the carpet. The cooling system was flushed also.
What was done to the engine, transmission, electrical, and cooling?

@GrandNatty Porsche Southamton. It was our entry into the challenge. I believe we tied for second in the East and third overall in points. Top 11 out of 62 entries.
Interesting; appears to be a custom appearance effort, ant restoration on the 90K driveline?
