Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Black interior, this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet features a 6-speed manual transmission, a short-shift kit, polished 18” SportDesign wheels, H&R lowering springs, and an upgraded touchscreen head unit. It was originally sold in Reno, Nevada, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2003 where it was purchased by the seller about 20 years later. Fortified with an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing, a stronger 996.2 differential, a replacement air/oil separator, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, and more, this 996 is now being offered for auction out of California.
The exterior is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a matching removable hardtop and a black power-operated convertible roof. Equipment includes integrated fog lights, heated power mirrors, a removable cabin wind deflector, a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, Porsche-branded brake calipers, and polished two-piece 18” SportDesign wheels. The car rides on a mixed set of Firestone tires in front and Federal tires in the rear, showing production date codes from 2019 and 2020 respectively. The convertible top is said to have been replaced under prior ownership. The railings on the removable hardtop have been refinished along with the upper windscreen frame to address clear coat peeling. The seller indicates the paint is not matched correctly in these areas, and small dings are present on the hardtop, rear decklid, and doors. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with an accident-free CARFAX report.
The Black interior includes power-adjustable draped leather front seats, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, a remote central locking system, an onboard computer, an aftermarket short-shift kit, and an aftermarket touchscreen head unit with Bluetooth and Android Auto. The seller notes the LCD instrument cluster screen is dim, and the battery voltage meter lens is faded and requires polishing.
Factory-rated at 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller indicates an LN Engineering IMS bearing upgrade has been performed, a stronger 996.2 differential has been installed, the suspension has been lowered with H&R springs, and a GBox transmission detent was installed to prevent 2nd gear popout. Service items include the replacement of the air/oil separator, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, fuel filter, fluids, bump stops, tie rod ends, and sway bar end links. The seller notes the starter occasionally squeals upon ignition as the pinion gear is slow to retract.
This sale will include a spare tire, a cabin wind deflector, and a clean title. The CARFAX report shows a Not Actual Miles title was issued in 2012. The seller believes this entry resulted from a clerical error and contests that the mileage shown on the odometer is accurate.
The seller would like you to know: “I purchased this car about 2 years ago and took care of all the maintenance items, as I planned to keep it for many years. However, I recently bought another 996 coupe, and I can't keep both. With all the major issues being addressed, it will provide its new owner many more years of worry-free enjoyment.”

@Sloanstavern Yes it goes up and down fine. I also topped off the hydraulic fluid a few months ago as it was low.

Does the soft top operate as it should? Thanks
@Wmcnair In the CA title there's a box that says "odometer reading is not the actual mileage." For some reason that box was checked when the previous owner purchased the car, so that was recorded in the DMV system. However the mileage history is consistent with no rollback evidence.
Hello, do you know why the car shows Not actual Mileage on Carfax?
@Rapnj IMS was done about 1 year, 3k miles ago. You can also see a video showing the new IMS and AOS.
@Sloanstavern the date codes on the tires are 3119 in front and 0720 in rear. Front tires have 6mm tread and rears have 3.5mm
Has the IMS bearing been replaced and if so when ? Thank you
Nice looking Cab -I could not see on the photos for certain, how are the tires ( tread and age)?
Thanks
