Up for auction is this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe finished in Black over a Savanna Beige partial leather interior.  This 6-speed 1999 example was purchased by the current owner in March of 2014 at just over 93k miles.  Under prior ownership at 92k miles, an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing was installed along with Nikasil block sleeving and a new clutch.  Since purchasing the car, the seller has performed over $11k worth of maintenance and upgrades including new Koni Sport shocks, a rebuilt alternator, a short-throw GT3 shifter, new motor mounts, air/oil separator, engine compartment insulation, an oil sump extension, and 18” OZ Racing wheels.  Now showing approximately 98k miles on the odometer, this 996 Carrera is being offered for auction by its owner out of Massachusetts.

This 996 is finished in nonmetallic Black and features clear paint protection film over the forward portion of the front hood and fenders.  The seller notes the car to have always been garage-kept under their ownership and a small door ding is noted on the passenger side, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  An optional rear model designation delete is applied from the factory and this Carrera rides on aftermarket 18” OZ Racing Alleggerita HLT black-painted wheels which have been dressed in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires sized 265/35ZR18 rear and 225/40ZR18 front.

Inside, this 996 features a Savanna Beige partial leather interior with automatic climate control, a CD shelf center console, and an AM/FM radio with a CD player.  A Rennline fire extinguisher mount has been added and some minor wear is noted on the driver’s seat bolster.  Coco floormats have also been installed along with a new short-throw GT3 shifter.  The A/C system is said to have been recently recharged in March of 2021.

This first-generation 996 carries a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine that sends up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.  At 92k miles under previous ownership, the engine was fitted with an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing along with Nickies Block Sleeving and a new clutch.  All of the work is said to have been performed by Eurosport Automotive in Arvada, CO, the official tech shop for the Denver PCA.  Under the current ownership, new adjustable Koni Sport shocks were installed along with a rebuilt alternator and cable looms, new shifter cables and brackets, a new clutch slave cylinder, a new air/oil separator, oil cooler, IAC valve, new strut bumpers and bushings, engine compartment insulation, and new radiators along with the corresponding fans and hoses.  A MantisSport oil sump extension was also equipped as well as a third radiator for improved cooling.

This sale will include original owner's manuals, window sticker, a toolkit, a jack, a spare tire, a service manual, and a clean title.  If you have been in search of a 6-speed Porsche 996, this 1999 Carrera is certainly worth consideration.

I'm probably just missing it, but where in the service records is the documentation for the IMS? I was looking for it in the receipt from Eurosport Automotive (I'm guessing that was when it was done, under the prior owner?). Thanks!

I had a bidder ask "why I did all the work on the motor" was there anything wrong with the car. I replied directly, thinking my answer would be put on the comments list. I'm copying the answer here: Not all of it is new, but it talks more about some of the items I did.

Actually, there was nothing major. I went to the track 5 times in 2014. During these track days, the air oil separator leaked...I guess that can happen in that setting. Also, when the motor was warm during a long drive, it was hard starting. Turns out that is the starter cabling, also common overe time. So, I looked up these two things, and they basically require the motor to be dropped. That was pretty cool, in my book, since I had a lift and wanted to do the work. Once out, I got to thinking that the components will never be so available to me like this again--so why not freshen them up. I've done that to every hobby car I've owned. One thing led to another. Motor mounts sag over time--so I replaced them. The 996 stock shifter is plastic and pretty long throw--so that's the GT3 shift box...and shifter cables. On it went. Prior to the motor things, I had my sights set on new suspension--that's always nice on a 90+k car car...so hence the Koni's. And I cleaned out the radiators (they're up with front scoops so they collect leaves, etc--and replaced the fans. AND, since traffic around Boston is pretty jammed, I decided to add the third radiator using the Turbo kit. Each project was with the idea of keeping it and I wanted it to be really nice. These things were derailed by our move from Needham to Plymouth almost 6 years ago (see other comments)...no garage so any potential track stuff was out. Where we live is a 3200 acre development with a 20 mph speed limit. I don't commute. RT3 to/from the Cape is pretty slow all summer....anyway, I'm not driving it. So we bought an RV and a tow vehicle, and we're moving on to new things. This is a great opportunity to get a really sorted out car.

I replied to a comment thinking it would be available to all.
This car now has 98,000 miles, and in addition to an essentially new motor, I have freshened up much of the rest with new components. Recently retired and with a new stand-alone garage, I did the items listed below—it was a job well done and a lot of fun. Let’s just say I had plans to keep and drive this for awhile and take it to a track occasionally. That’s where these things really sing.
About a year later, the winter of 2015 forced us to move, and I no longer have a workshop garage so that ended that dream. I don’t drive it much…my new home is in a community with a 20 mph speed limit(!!) and I only have a two car garage with a 9 foot ceiling at the door opener. So, car projects ended, plans for learning to drive at the track were put aside, and my eager car is looking for some driving which I no longer do.
So now we have a tear drop RV and a tow vehicle and have shifted gears.
If you want a 996 that's been sorted out...this is certainly one of them.

    Love it,
With all the upgrades and attention some critical parts replaced, this car is going to be a lot of fun.

@TomInPlymouth Pushed the PPI from South Shore Autoworks up to my site documents section. PCarMarket should make it live soon.

@BobTrips I have taken the 996 to the track 5 times, all in 2014. Only "short" tracks (Loudoun, Lime Rock, Thompson) since I'm a novice and it seemed like long straights would be too fast for a novice. I had the stock rims and a set of older tires on the vehicle. It was really a fun time and the car was spectacular. That winter I did the motor component and shifter work, anticipating I'd like to do more track time, but our house was badly damaged by 115 inches of snow in 6 weeks...and we had to do a lot of restoration work. It looked so good, we figured we'd downsize. And with that move, I'm out of a nice garage.

I'll post the DME report from the PPI I had done before putting the car on auction. Only issue from the PPI was the IAC which was sticky in cold weather. I replaced with new IAC right after the inspection rather than clean-up existing. The only outstanding issue is the hood supports are weak in cold weather. Apparently, that's common. I'm sure anyone can deal with that when cold weather arrives ($14. each and easy install)

Yes, AC continues to blow cold. I don't think shops are even allowed to recharge unless a system is tight.

This really is a great car.

Nice clean 996. Why are you selling after all the improvements? To your knowledge, has it been tracked and any chance of a DME/overrev report? And does the A/C still blow cold after the recent recharge? Thanks

Questions, let me know. I've also put up the factory build plate, the Nikkies build documentation, and improvements spreadsheet.
