Now available for auction is this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Black over a Savannah Beige interior.  Equipped with a 3.4 L flat-six engine sending power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox, this 1999 example was also generously optioned from the factory with exclusive stainless steel and aluminum trim, draped leather seats, and a rare limited-slip differential.  Having previously undergone a critical LN IMS bearing upgrade along with the installation of a new clutch, this Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona while showing approximately 66k miles showing on the odometer.

The Black finish on this Carrera is stated to be in good original condition with only minor imperfections and road-going wear present, additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX.  The cabriolet top was previously replaced and has been recently serviced at a cost of over $4k.  The original removable black hardtop and Porsche wind deflector will also accompany the sale.  From the factory, this 996 comes equipped with exclusive stainless-steel tailpipes and 18” Carrera wheels with colored Porsche center crests. Aftermarket LED taillights have been equipped and the Pirelli P Zero tires are stated to be in healthy condition.

Inside, you will find a Savannah Beige interior with optional draped leather seats and exclusive details including aluminum instrument gauges, stainless steel door entry guards with model logos, and aluminum inlays for the shifter and handbrake lever.   A wood-trimmed steering wheel is installed as well as an aftermarket radio, and all gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Representing the first of the water-cooled 911’s, this 996 Carrera is equipped with a 3.4 L flat-six engine that sends as much as 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox and factory optioned limited-slip differential.  A collection of maintenance records will accompany the sale including a 2013 invoice from Zuffenhausen Motors detailing the installation of an LN IMS bearing retrofit and new clutch at 46k miles.  More recently in October of 2020 at 66k miles, all new spark plugs were installed along with a new fuel filter, wiper blades, window regulators, and an oil service.

This sale will include the original toolkit, Porsche wind deflector, black hardtop, service records, and a clean title.  With its desirable options and IMS bearing upgrade, this 1999 Cabriolet is a perfect choice for any enthusiast searching for a 6-speed 996.

assuming the reserve is off at this number....good luck to the buyer and seller, looks like a nice car at a fair price that will probably get a few extra bids at the end

Less than hour to go! Thanks for the bids and comments. The Porsche 996 is an important car in the Porsche lineage. Unlike the 997 forward, the 996 is still a very analog car and having been around them all, I believe that the steering on a C2 996 is the best ever. They are of course the first water cooled 911, and doing so was a revelation in power delivery, allowing for more sophisticated valvetrains that spun these motors like never before. These cars will romp and sound awesome doing it. The convertible gives you more access to that symphony in flat six than a coupe and they are great looking cars, top up or down. Bid with confidence!

    @Bob.Beck8428 AC is ice cold.

The 996 AC systems are bullet proof. I have never had any issues in any of them I have owned. In fact these cars are just flat reliable. I've owned a 2002 coupe since new and can barely count on one hand the issues I have had on that car...

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Can you tell me the production date, it’s blurry on the picture. Thanks

  • nobrakes (seller) 3 yearsago

    Greetings again!

24 hours to go on this beautiful 996 Cabriolet.

Here is the video for the startup and top operation.

I will be loading undercar pics within the hour.

I was asked about shipping; yes we can get you pricing to anywhere in the lower 48, enclosed or open transport. Of course this car is good to go and its the perfect time of year to do a fly and drive (the tires have a 2017 date code).

Standing by to answer your questions!

nice looking car! do you have any under carriage pics? and is a cold startup video possible? Thanks!

  • davery5872 (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

    Does this have heated seats?

  • nobrakes (seller) 3 yearsago

@Mercyhealth thanks, we will try to get those videos this weekend. The $4k service ticket is pictured in the gallery. It includes more than than just the top service and it is a bit tedious to separate the that work and its final portion of the total. Bottom line it works perfect now.

@nobrakes another very nice example of the gen 1 996. Could you please tell us more about the replaced soft top and the 4K recent maintenance? Also a cabriolet functioning and start up videos can be helpful. Thanks

Nice car, love the fact that you have a hard top. Any mods? I have a coupe that was produced in 3/98.

  • ptkacik (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

I had almost this exact car (with twice the miles) and had to sell it because it was soo fast. I don't understand how people can want a quad turbo 4.0 when a car like this easily does 130mph on an entrance ramp. No problems ever (although I also did the roof, IMS, and clutch). It seemed to love 7,000+ rpm and sounded so good doing it. Good luck with the sale. I'm looking for something slower. Ha!

  • nobrakes (seller) 3 yearsago

Good morning and welcome to my auction, and just in time for spring is this no excuse 996 Cabriolet!

This is a well kept and well maintained automobile that checks all the boxes; open roof Porsche with a four season matching hardtop, all maintenance up to date including the ones you worry about on these cars: the IMS upgrade and clutch and the top mechanism... no worries on either of these potentially troublesome issues. That leaves you free to row through those six gears with the roar of that flat six in your ears, the wind in your hair and the sun on your face. As a bonus the black and tan is drop dead gorgeous.

I'll be monitoring the auction and will endeavor to answer timely to comments or private messages. This Porsche is located in the Phoenix Arizona area and is available for inspection and or PPI.

Thanks for your interest and happy bidding!
