The car was purchased by its current owner in November 2023 and has since been fortified with a replacement transmission, a new clutch, rear main seal, IMS seal, motor mounts, transmission mounts, a coolant flush, and an oil change. This first-generation Boxster is now being offered for auction out of Texas with approximately 68k miles showing on the odometer.

This 986 is finished in Ocean Blue Metallic and features headlamps with integrated fog lights, heated power mirrors, a black power-operated convertible top, side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual roll hoops, a removable wind deflector, and a polished center-mounted exhaust outlet. The car rides on black-painted 17” wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2017. The seller indicates some minor dents and scratches around the exterior, an outward ding on the rear trunk lid, and a paint chip on the front hood. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The grey interior includes 8-way power-adjustable seats, matching carpets floor mats, and a black four-spoke leather steering wheel. Other accessories include driver seat lumbar support and position memory, power windows, a central locking system, automatic climate control, a sound system, and an aftermarket Pioneer head unit. The seller notes a slight tear on the passenger seat and some signs of wear on the driver’s seat. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Rated at 201 HP and 181 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. This car comes equipped with anti-slip regulation (ASR) traction control, an automatic brake differential (ABD), and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with fixed 4-piston calipers at each corner. The seller notes the transmission was replaced under their ownership and the car was serviced with a new clutch, rear main seal, IMS seal, motor mounts, transmission mounts, a coolant flush, and an oil change.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery charger, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Great vehicle right here, 1999, 5 Speed, and it's Ocean Blue Metallic! What’s not to love about it? The car runs and drives great. There are no undercarriage leaks or anything, no weird noises, and no leaks in the convertible top. The only thing the car needs is a new home!”

@cwitt Koby Motors got the transmission for me, I was told by them that the transmission came out of a 1999 Boxster & had only 60k miles on it. Thats why i decided to get the work done there. The only service I’ve done on the transmission is the new fluid. It was most likely serviced before going in the car but im not 100% sure. Shifts through all gears no issues. The reason I replaced the transmission was due to the differential on the old transmission was shot making the car not go into reverse. So thats why it was replaced.

Do you know any particulars about the replacement transmission, such as year and mileage of the source car, and whether it has had any sort of refurbishment or service, beyond the new fluid that was put in?

@Richard356 To my knowledge this car hasn’t received a whole new IMS Bearing, Only the seal stated in the receipt. Since these 1st gen boxsters have dual row IMS & the car has 68k miles i dont think its going out anytime soon. If it were to go out it would have already- in my opinion.

Regarding the IMS, the September receipt list a "Seal", is it possible to show proof that the replacement of the IMS bearing was also completed? Thanks
