Introduced as a modern rendition inspired by the legendary BMW 507 Roadster, the Z8 stands as a rare retro-themed sports car, boasting an aluminum chassis matched with the potent S62 V8 engine and 6-speed manual transmission derived from the E39 M5 sports sedan. One of the 5,703 BMW E52 Z8s produced, this 2001 example comes finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over Sport Red and Black Nappa leather. Showing approximately 28k kilometers (~17k miles) on the odometer, this Z8 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.

The aluminum bodywork is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic (354) and features a black power-operated soft top, painted removable hardtop, xenon headlamps, fog lights, neon tube taillights, a two-piece chrome grille, fender vents with integrated BMW roundels, chrome side mirrors, and dual polished exhaust tips. The model-specific 18” split-spoke Style 59 forged alloy wheels are mounted with Goodyear tires from 2022. A minor blow-in repair is reported on the lower front area of the bumper. The interior of this Z8 is appointed with Sport Red and Black (P1SP) Nappa leather upholstery covering the deeply bolstered sport seats, door panels, lower dashboard, and central tunnel. Body-colored painted trim covers the upper dashboard, steering wheel airbag cover, and shifter surround. The driver-oriented cockpit features a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, an aluminum shift knob, and central instrument cluster housing a 150-MPH speedometer, an 8K-RPM tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. All knobs, switches, and primary touchpoints are sculpted from aluminum. Driver amenities include remote keyless entry, a push-button ignition, a 10-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, an auto-dimming interior mirror, and a passenger-side cup holder. The seller notes slight sagging of the hardtop headliner, and an aftermarket radio has been installed as the original is currently inoperable.

The Z8 shares its 4.9L S62 V8 engine with the E39 M5 sports sedan, including Double-VANOS variable valve timing, quad hollow camshafts, lightweight aluminum construction, and individual throttle bodies. The S62 was factory-rated at 394 HP and 368 lb.-ft of torque, sending power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox and mechanical limited-slip differential. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is accomplished in as little as 4.5 seconds. The seller adds that maintenance throughout 2023 included a new battery installed in May, along with fluids and filters changed, service to the engine mounts, valve cover gaskets, and belts, a brake fluid flush, and replacements to the windshield washer pump, drive belts, and trunk struts in June. The starter motor and horns were then replaced in August 2023.
