Up for auction is this 2001 Mercedes-Benz R129 SL 500 finished in Black over a Saffron Nappa leather interior.  Originally offered as one of the most premium Mercedes roadster models, this R129 SL500 is factory equipped with luxurious driver amenities, the AMG styling package, AMG wheels, and a powerful V8 engine. With approximately 78k miles showing on the odometer, this SL500 is now being offered in strong running order by its seller out of Indiana.

The Black nonmetallic finish on this SL is said to be in great shape with only a minor crack indicated on the front bumper underneath the passenger side headlight.  The convertible soft top is also said to be in good condition except for a crack in the rear plastic window (images are provided in the photo gallery).  The AMG styling package is equipped from the factory which includes a revised front spoiler and side skirts.  An aftermarket fiberglass front bumper has been installed and this SL retains its factory optioned 18” AMG 5-spoke wheels that are currently dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires in the front, and Nanking tires in the rear.

The Saffron Nappa leather interior is reported to be in good overall condition except for some cracks in the wood veneers, wear on the driver’s seat and an imperfection on the driver’s side armrest.  The convertible top is said to be leaking hydraulic fluid and may currently only be manually operated.  Driver amenities include electrically adjustable seats with driver memory, dimmable mirrors, a headlight cleaning system, and an anti-theft alarm system.  The factory radio remains in place and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly except for the power convertible top.

This R129 is equipped with a 5.0 L M113 V8 engine that sends 302 HP and 339 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed automatic transaxle.  CARFAX shows a service by a Mercedes dealer at just over 70k miles as well as a more recent service in 2020 by a specialist in Pennsylvania at 78,503 miles. This SL is said to be in fantastic driving condition for its next owner.
