Now available for auction is this 2001 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe finished in Guards Red over a Savanna Beige interior with leather seats. Sporting a rare classic color combination, this 2001 example was delivered new in Michigan and has remained under the care of its original owner, a longtime PCA member. It came optioned with a 6-speed manual transmission, 18” Turbo Look wheels, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, the Roof Transport System, Technic Package, and exclusive seatbelts in Guards Red. Accompanied by a complete collection of service records including an IMS bearing replacement in 2013, this well preserved and highly original 996 Carrera is being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan while showing approximately 29k miles on the odometer.
This 996 is finished in the traditional shade of Guards Red and the seller reports the paint to be all original. The only noted flaws are some minor imperfections around the Porsche hood crest and a slight scuff below the left side headlight. The glass and trim are also described to be in excellent condition along with the factory optional light-alloy 18” Turbo Look wheels. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. The wheels feature optional colored Porsche center crests and are currently dressed in a set of Continental tires.
Inside, this Carrera features a Savanna Beige interior with leather seats, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, and exclusive Guards Red seatbelts. Other options include the Roof Transport System and the Technic Package which adds Litronic Bi-Xenon headlights, headlight washers, and an onboard computer integrated within the central tachometer. The seller reports very minimal signs of wear consistent with the car’s age and confirms all accessories and electronics to be working properly.
This 996 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine that delivers as much as 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is achieved in approximately 5 seconds and stopping power is handled by fixed 4-piston ventilated disc brakes. The original owner’s collection of maintenance records totals over $9k and includes an invoice for an IMS bearing upgrade in 2013. CARFAX shows the last documented service to have been carried out in April of 2019 at 28,454 miles including a maintenance inspection and brake fluid flush.
