The basis for the original 911 GT3 road car, the 996 GT3 Cup was introduced in 1998 to compete in the Porsche Supercup one-make sports car racing series. This 2001 example is accompanied by a racing logbook showing participation in the European Porsche Supercup series before being imported to the U.S. where it raced IMSA, NASA, and PCA events. It features a 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, an integrated roll cage, a carbon fiber rear wing, Recaro bucket seats, air jacks, and 18” BBS wheels. This authentic GT3 Cup race car is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

Fitted with updated 2004 fenders, bumpers, and headlights, this GT3 Cup is finished in Biarritz White with custom blue Supercup graphics and racing numbers. Equipment includes hood and engine cover pins, dual exhaust outlets, side skirts, cutout GT3-logo wing uprights, aerodynamic racing mirrors, front and rear tow hooks, an external kill switch, and 18” BBS center-lock wheels dressed in older Pirelli P Zero racing tires. Some cosmetic damage and signs of track use are evident. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The lightweight racing cockpit features a pair of Recaro fixed-back bucket seats with blue Schroth safety harnesses (2024). Accessories include a fully integrated roll cage, a fire extinguisher, a three-spoke MOMO quick-release steering wheel, a racing intercom, and a battery cutoff switch. A repair invoice shows the air jack system was rebuilt by Cup Car Solutions in 2017.

A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine delivers up to 370 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Services records provided by the seller include an engine rebuild in 2017 at a cost of over $43k with new heads, valves, lifters, rods, pulley and main bearings, coil packs, spark plugs, and a reconditioned block. Another invoice from 2019 shows a brake system flush, new rotors, brake pads, fuel injectors, a new rear axle, and all-new Porsche Motorsports shock absorbers at a cost of nearly $17k. The most recent invoice from 2020 shows the differential and gearbox were rebuilt including new synchros, bearings, and updated 2004 gears at a cost of over $9k. The seller adds that the rebuilt engine has approximately 35 hours of run time and the rebuilt transmission has 0 hours as the car has not been raced since 2019.

This GT3 Cup is offered with a racing log book, service records, and a bill of sale.

The seller would like you to know:  "The car was not tracked recently and is being sold because the owner purchased a 997 Cup Car and has been using that."
