The basis for the original 911 GT3 road car, the 996 GT3 Cup was introduced in 1998 to compete in the Porsche Supercup one-make sports car racing series. This 2001 example is accompanied by a racing logbook showing participation in the European Porsche Supercup series before being imported to the U.S. where it raced IMSA, NASA, and PCA events. It features a 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, an integrated roll cage, a carbon fiber rear wing, Recaro bucket seats, air jacks, and 18” BBS wheels. This authentic GT3 Cup race car is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
Fitted with updated 2004 fenders, bumpers, and headlights, this GT3 Cup is finished in Biarritz White with custom blue Supercup graphics and racing numbers. Equipment includes hood and engine cover pins, dual exhaust outlets, side skirts, cutout GT3-logo wing uprights, aerodynamic racing mirrors, front and rear tow hooks, an external kill switch, and 18” BBS center-lock wheels dressed in older Pirelli P Zero racing tires. Some cosmetic damage and signs of track use are evident. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The lightweight racing cockpit features a pair of Recaro fixed-back bucket seats with blue Schroth safety harnesses (2024). Accessories include a fully integrated roll cage, a fire extinguisher, a three-spoke MOMO quick-release steering wheel, a racing intercom, and a battery cutoff switch. A repair invoice shows the air jack system was rebuilt by Cup Car Solutions in 2017.
A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine delivers up to 370 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Services records provided by the seller include an engine rebuild in 2017 at a cost of over $43k with new heads, valves, lifters, rods, pulley and main bearings, coil packs, spark plugs, and a reconditioned block. Another invoice from 2019 shows a brake system flush, new rotors, brake pads, fuel injectors, a new rear axle, and all-new Porsche Motorsports shock absorbers at a cost of nearly $17k. The most recent invoice from 2020 shows the differential and gearbox were rebuilt including new synchros, bearings, and updated 2004 gears at a cost of over $9k. The seller adds that the rebuilt engine has approximately 35 hours of run time and the rebuilt transmission has 0 hours as the car has not been raced since 2019.
This GT3 Cup is offered with a racing log book, service records, and a bill of sale.
The seller would like you to know: "The car was not tracked recently and is being sold because the owner purchased a 997 Cup Car and has been using that."

Bid in the amount of $42,250
Are those Xenon headlights without headlight washers, or are they halogen?
@lftgeklt911 We're you able to perform leak down and compression test?

just talked to the current owner and he wanted to relay that the car was only used for drivers ed for the last 15 years before it was parked
@Stachmiso calipers were replaced withoriginal 4 piston calipers. not sure about the fire system but i asume it was removed when the passenger seat was installed for leg room. also fire extinguishers are not required in driver ed in our metro pca area
@Chadsuv factory plastic cup car tank
@Geoff911sc no signs of leaks, dont know if it was ever rebuilt
@Chadsuv Doesn't look like it has fuel cell.
They were built from factory for 93 octane fuel.
Does this cup has updated front 6 piston brake calipers?
Why fire suppression system was removed?
Any record of fuel cell bladder replacement?
Can the car run on 93 octane?
Has the power steering rack been replaced or rebuilt?…you can tell if they are leaking by pulling the bellows back.
I have a 2003
996.2
75 hours with absolutely clean oil analysis…. These motors are good for 100-125 hours…. More if you are just tooling around in DEs.
Change oil regularly and don’t over rev and the motor is just now broken in.
thx
@henryr no, thats only the more high strung GT3R,GT3rs andGT@rsr engines. cup cars are usually closer to 100 hours
Bid in the amount of $35,250
Definitely a well used and hard driven car. Looks like fun for someone committed to driving hard and keeping up on all the vintage systems. Not a show car or perfect car but one to use. I don't know that I can pull together the coin but wish I could. I have a place in my heart and would make a place at my house for this little bit'o fun.
@lftgeklt911 he said the case was like that when he got the car. the engine had been rebuilt another time before he purchased it. he was told the case had got a crack from an off track excursion
i thought 40-50 hours was the rebuild window... ?
i,ll check with the owner if that was done at the time of last rebuild
not sure when case was repaired
@Stachmiso no
@Chadsuv yes
I'm also want to know when case was welded ?
I didn't notice case repair until it was pointed now.
Regarding the case repair shown in pic 175...Was this repaired at the time of overhaul in 2017 with 35hrs run time since then?
@Chadsuv it has carbon fiber doors ,windshield and quarter windows are glass, rear window is lexan
@FawsittMotors @FawsittMotor one extra set of wheels and a air jack wand
@Chadsuv didnt weight it recently but i can later today
@Stachmiso Yes ,we can do a compression and leak down test, and i can scan the ecu. no evidence of hard crash repairs
Can you do leak down and compression?
Can you read ECU for total hours and over revs ?
Any evidence of hard crashes repairs?
Bid in the amount of $35,000
What is the current empty weight? Can you please confirm materials...carbon fiber doors? Lexan windows? Aluminum hood?
Bid in the amount of $26,996
Bid in the amount of $25,000
Picture 176 shows why engine was rebuilt but a lot was spent recently so it should be track ready. GLWTA!

How many hours are on the engine and transmission?
