Sporting the rare Paint to Sample Color of Pastel Yellow, this 2001 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe features a 3.6-liter Mezger engine paired with an optional 5-speed Tiptronic transmission. The Graphite Grey interior is complemented by Dark Burr Maple trim pieces, Alcantara headliner, and supple leather seats. It is believed to have been cared for by three prior owners and received an upgraded electric spoiler system and carbon fiber air intake fins as well as a new water pump. Driven approximately 38k miles from new, this Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This Coupe was ordered in Pastel Yellow (Q1), a rarely seen Paint to Sample color that was originally offered on the 993 and Boxster models during the late 1990s. The bodywork features Turbo-specific bumpers, integrated side air intakes, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. Aftermarket carbon fiber fins have been added to the side intakes and the rear spoiler hydraulics have been replaced with upgraded electronic components. Red-painted brake calipers are tucked behind 18” Turbo Twist wheels with colored Porsche-crested center caps and Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
The Graphite Grey full leather interior includes a matching Alcantara headliner, optional supple leather seats, and exclusive Dark Burr Maple trim for the handbrake and gear selector. The car was also optioned with a CD storage compartment, Porsche CDR-220 radio, and Tiptronic shifter buttons for the steering wheel. Some signs of wear are noted including light stretching at the base of the driver’s seat and degradation of the Graphite Grey soft-touch coatings. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.
Producing up to 415 HP, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine drives all four wheels by way of a 5-speed Tiptronic transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in less than 5 seconds with a top speed of 185 MPH. Recent services carried out in preparation for the next owner included the installation of a new water pump and fresh fluids. Additional maintenance history is provided in the CARFAX report.

I can't belive we are in the last hour! I have been watching this auction all week.
Personally, I think all 996tts are beautiful just the way they are. Bumperettes are unique because most of the latter years tt’s are without. This is a beautiful 996 TT. I would keep this one exactly the way it was ordered!!
@Blubusdrvr I have a speed yellow turbo I simply bought a GT2 bumper to replace it.
@Blubusdrvr According to our technician the hardware securing the guards to the bumper do not pass through the painted surface on the bumper. They are secured by a supporting bracket behind the cover through the radiator ducts. Ultimately the removal boils down to any impressions in the paint or scuffs that may exist behind the guards where they rest against the painted surface on the bumper. If the scuffing is light, it would like come out with a paint correction. If the impressions are deep, paintwork may be needed to fully eliminate any visible imperfections. Likely a case by case basis here, any car that has them would likely look a bit different once they came off.

@CPRClassic Not entirely true about the bumperettes. Yes, they can be removed but they will leave an ugly gash in the bumper cover. The 01's you see without them were either ordered that way (bumperette delete), had the bumper cover replaced or filled. When you remove them it isn't pretty underneath.

@skywalker27612 yes they can be removed. Most all 996 Turbos seemed to have had them removed but this particular example still has them installed.
Can the front bumper black bumpers be safely removed?
@jattilah Thanks for the interest! The tires are date stamped 2017. We believe the fins are installed with hardware as opposed to something like 3M tape. They are fixed tightly to the inner intake duct. We would need to remove the duct to verify it, which we'll try and have done before the auction ends.
Hi I have a couple of questions.
What is the date code on the tires? I'm interested in knowing if they're new enough to dive the car home to Seattle.
Also, how are the carbon fiber fins mounted? Could they be removed without leaving a mark?
