Marking the final year in which a Carrera 4 was produced in a narrow-body configuration, this 2001 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Coupe is presented in Orient Red Metallic over Graphite Grey leather. Pairing a 6-speed manual transmission with its 3.4-liter flat-six, it was also factory-specified with the desirable GT Package, including a sport-tuned chassis, Aerokit, and stainless steel exhaust outlets. Modified with Bilstein coilovers, H&R sway bars, Sparco QRT-R seats, and a Numeric Racing short shifter, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania with just over 87k miles showing on the odometer.

Finished in Orient Red Metallic, this Carrera 4 equips the desirable GT Package, including stainless steel exhaust outlets and a factory Aerokit including a GT3-style front bumper, side skirts, and rear wing. A set of 18” 993 Turbo-look wheels have been mounted with Falken AT tires from 2022. The factory-optioned 18” Sport Design wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2017 will also accompany the sale. The seller notes that the front bumper cover was refinished due to road chips and paint protection film is now applied to the area. There are some nicks, scratches, and a slight indentation on the passenger door. The car attended HPDE events, and detailed images are available in the gallery, along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Graphite Grey interior has been modified with Sparco QRT-R seats with a Planted seat mount and sliders, Sparco 6-point racing harnesses, and a DAS bolt-in rollbar. The originally selected supple leather front seats with Porsche-crested headrests are included in the sale along with the rear seats which are also not currently installed. Other options include a 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and the Technic Package. An aftermarket radio has been fitted, and the seller notes that the sunroof is operable although may require realignment due to the roll bar installation. Additionally, the rear spoiler light turns on briefly before turning off.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine, producing 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque, delivered to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the engine was rebuilt in August 2023 at a cost of approximately $22k due to an oil starvation issue resulting in crank and bearing damage during a driving event. During the rebuild, several upgrades were made including an aluminum flywheel, ultimate AOS, updated IMS, LN Engineering deep sump, high-temp thermostat, and numerous replacement parts. Additional modifications include Bilstein coilovers, H&R sway bars, Tarrett Engineering adjustable drop links, a Numeric Racing short shifter, Fabspeed cold air intake, and a 25% exhaust bypass.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, and a Porsche umbrella.

The seller would like you to know: “Thanks for checking out my car! I have had this car since 2018 as an occasional driver and track car for PCA HPDEs. During my progression in DE's additional safety equipment (race seats, 6-point harnesses, and roll bar) and suspension components were added. The engine suffered an oil starvation issue resulting in some crank and bearing damage which resulted in a complete engine rebuild in 2023 with additional upgrades listed here to prevent recurrence. The car is both track-ready and street-legal.”

It does not show as it hard to see. I only noticed it in very bright Sun light. I just took a few more pictures with direct lighting and I can not see it. I will upload for you.

  • ghiasteve (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Thanks. Which picture shows the indentation on the passenger’s side?

  • rons911 (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@ghiasteve It is a two piece, bolt in roll cage. 2 bolts hold it to the rear shock towers, 2 bolts hold it to front seat belt anchor posts, 2 bolts hold the two sections together. based on install time I would estimate about two hours. If you remove the roll cage and sell it separately, it will fit in both the 996 and 997 models. New it sells for $2,900 so you may have an after purchase gain if you sell it separately. https://www.dassport.com/product/porsche-996-997-coupe-rollbar-1998to2011/4?cs=true&cst=custom
If you are considering reverting back to the original seats, the race seats and harnesses have a value as they are currently certified.

  • ghiasteve (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

How difficult is removing the roll cage?

  • rons911 (seller) 1 month, 3 weeksago

I may consider $29,000 without the original seats and extra tires/rims. If geographically within a five hour drive, I can deliver.

@rons911 I checked with the mechanic from the last service regarding the DME, he indicated one was performed but nothing noteworthy. He stated he does not keep the reports as they are quickly outdated. I tried to get another one performed but can not find a shop with availability prior to the end of this auction.

@bruce48127 Checking now to see if one was done at the last service.

  • bruce48127 (registered bidder) 1 month, 3 weeksago

With a history of HPDE and other track events, a DME report is particularly relevant.

No, the engine was rebuilt to 3.4 by Brandywine Motorwerks or Newark, DE. Many in the local club members have used this shop. Rebuild included, but not limited to; "replace crankshaft, intermediate shaft, pistons, all rod and main bearings, new dual row LN Engineering IMS bearing. Machine cylinder heads and perform performance valve job including intake port work. Replaced starter, water pump and add low low temp thermostat. Install lightweight aluminum flywheel". Install UAOS, LN Engineering deep sump (large deep sump). I will post the entire parts list.
    Interesting about Slakker Racing Development.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 1 month, 3 weeksago

Was the engine rebuilt a standard 3.4? For $23k slakker racing development will do a full 3.7 hartech build which adds plenty of power and low end torque. Beautiful color.

  • rons911 (seller) 1 month, 4 weeksago

One unique feature I added was the 'Auto-blip' which automatically performs the rev matching when shifting. In addition to all the added features described here, all new rotors and Padget yellow brake pads all around were added in 2023.

  • rons911 (seller) 1 month, 4 weeksago

@wab_jr Yes, the aero kit was factory installed, thanks for correcting.

  • wab_jr (registered bidder) 1 month, 4 weeksago

@rons911 Sorry I called the aerokit dealer added. I overlooked the XAA code on the sticker.

  • rons911 (seller) 1 month, 4 weeksago

@InsatiableAmos Yes, the 4 wheel function is still intact and operational as is the PSM. Airbags are still there, never deployed (keep them for safety)

  • rons911 (seller) 1 month, 4 weeksago

@wab_jr Thanks for the correction, DAS Roll bar. Yes, the spats were part of the original build, really adds to the look I think.

  • InsatiableAmos (registered bidder) 1 month, 4 weeksago

    AWD still operable? Airbags too?

  • wab_jr (registered bidder) 1 month, 4 weeksago

It’s a DAS Sport roll bar not DOS.
Good looking car & it’s nice to see the spats included on the rear bumper. Usually people leave those off on the dealer installed aerokit retrofit.

  • rons911 (seller) 1 month, 4 weeksago

@flyyellowrsa There are no dash lights related to the seats. Upon start up, a spoiler light is on but goes out when vehicle drives forward. According to a Mechanic at the Dealership this is characteristic of the factory aero kit cars.

  • flyyellowrsa (registered bidder) 1 month, 4 weeksago

were the seats coded out or are there any lights on the dash?

  • flyyellowrsa 1 month, 4 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $996
