Up for auction is this low-mileage 2001 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe finished in Lapis Blue Metallic over a black full leather interior.  At an original sticker price of over $126k, this 2001 example came factory optioned with the Carbon Fiber Interior Package, supple leather seats, the Digital Sound Package, and a 6-speed manual transmission.  Staying true to its factory specifications while highlighting a clean history of ownership on CARFAX, this 996 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas with just under 11k miles showing on the odometer.

This Turbo is finished in Lapis Blue Metallic and the paint is described to be all original and with only a few minor touched-up imperfections, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with recent paint meter readings.  The 2001 example came factory optioned with a front bumperette delete as well as 18” Turbo Twist wheels with colored Porsche center crests. These wheels are currently dressed in Bridgestone Potenza tires which are said to retain between 7/32 and 10/32 tread on all four corners.

Inside, you will find a black full leather interior with the optional Carbon Interior Package and supple leather seats.  Exclusive factory details include a handbrake in shift lever in carbon/aluminum and a 3-spoke steering wheel in carbon/leather.  Amenities include Porsche Communication Management (PCM), the Digital Sound Package, heated front seats, left seat lumbar support, and self-dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor.

The twin-turbocharged 3.6L Mezger flat-six engine sends up to 415 HP to all four wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  The 996 Turbo is capable of accelerating from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds while carrying on to a top speed of nearly 190 MPH.  A collection of maintenance records is said to accompany the sale showing a history of routine service dating back to the original purchase.

This sale will include a collection of service records and a clean title.  With its low mileage and tasteful factory options, this increasingly sought-after 6-speed 996 Turbo is not to be missed.

Very nice 996 Turbo. No doubt this will do well. A few questions for the seller. The paint gauge is showing micron readings of 816 to 926. I would have expected readings closer to 100 on factory paint. Able to shed any insight on that? Forgive me if I am misinterpreting that. Also, does the spoiler open and close as designed? Photos show it mostly open. Finally, what are the date codes on the tires? Thank you!

I have an 01. Added speedtech exhaust and Softronic ECU tune. Absolutely amazing. Great cars. Ignore the Prius driving commenter.

Mine is now pushing 515hp with all bolt ons and these cars continue to appreciate in value. $60k is not juicing. It’s the market.

I cannot believe how much attention all of you are giving @CarBidder. He is clearly, not car bidding on this one.

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

@CarBidder you have a fair point. I have both bought and sold on these types of platforms and have not seen that issue. There are two other to keep in mind. Even though this car does not have the upgraded engine. It is a Mezger versus the standard M96 in a C4S which seems to be attracting prices in the low to mid 40s. See yesterday one C4S went for 46plus. Secondly there is always the conscious choice of not participating in this or other sites like them.

Enough of that maybe we could take this discussion offline? However for me a turbo 996 with low miles is attractive at 45. Lets see where this lands. The used car business for multiple reasons is quite volatile. And for those owners of 911s we enjoy the higher selling prices making our fleets even more valuable.

@Mercyhealth I have bid on these auctions and know how they charge etc. There are stupid "juicers" and clever ones. Stupid one will bid like $60 or 70K for cars like this one which is way out of range (based on most recent auction results). Again it is your money and no one is stopping you pay whatever you want. This 996 Turbo does NOT come with X50 package. Seller can always cancel auction at last minutes to help out friend who juiced up bidding price. I have seen this on other auction sites. Not sure for a 20 years old porsche 11 k or 30K mileages make much difference. Car has been garage queen for most of its life. Color combinations are personal choice. I don't know anything about current high bidder. I was asking PCARMARKET how they ensure fair game for both Seller and future buyers. I was just using this an example. Prices of all cars have gone up during last one year. Porsche price move in a cycle. Few years are up cycle and next few are slow ones.

@CarBidder I’m wondering if you have ever bid on an auction site like this. The second you bid your credit card gets hit with a 10% bill of your bid. If someone tries to juice up the bid and gets caught with the final winning bid the rest of the 5% of the cars sale price gets taken out of your account.

So lets say someone bids 1000.00 dollars your CC gets charged 100.00. Then if that 1000.00 bid wins the rest or 400.00 is charged to your account. That money goes to PCARMARKET and they are out of the deal. It’s up to the bidder and the seller to make the transaction work out.

The only way that the bid can be juiced is if the bidder has a “friend” out there willing to pay the house it’s 5% up to I believe 5000.00. If they get caught with the final winning bid and the bid meets reserve.

I hope this helps. Pcarmarket or others please let me know if I’m wrong.

Nonetheless it is this turbo is quite spectacular with great color and super low miles that we should be talking about. There are very few if any examples of this 911 variant out there available for sale. Best of luck to the seller.

@CarBidder As for the bidding process I obviously have no control over anything. It is what is is. Perhaps P Car can shed some light on that. As for selling from our web site, this cannot be done by contract from PCAR while the car is at auction. I hope this will clarify. The most important point is that ALL of the receipt for this car clearly point to authenticity of mileage.
As far as I am concerned anyone who bids on the car will have the opportunity to inspect these records before paying for the car.
    There are no games here!

@CarBidder First of all you are correct that the details will be of assistance to buyer. We have many pages of service records. What they tell us is that the cars has frequently been serviced by a Porsche Dealers. I guess my point is that the dealers are going to always recommend components be replaced as needed and usually aggressively. So, I am saying all the evidence of service over many years and only 10000 miles make for a good bit of safety built into the process. I am willing to scan all the docs and send directly to anyone interested. In the meantime will add more photos and reports. Thanks

How does PCarMarket ensure someone else is NOT" juicing up" bid price or placing an "inside" bid. How bid went from $20K to $45k even 3 days before auction close? If someone does NOT care about price they always go to other websites pay price what dealer want. There are plenty of options for buyer. Most people go to auctions because they want best deal.

  • CarBidder (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

@dickbrink Fine can mean different things 2/32 legal limit on tires, so 4-5/32 tires should be fine to some and others may have different opinion. Similarly Brakes of 5 mm vs 10 mm are 2 different things. I did not find info at your website. Why can't you post here? How are service record for other things like brake fluids, spark plugs, air filters, battery and clutch (if ever replaced)?

  • RotesAuto (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@dickbrink The DME will show numbers of ignitions in 2 ranges. We’d like to see those numbers, not just “it’s good”. Underbody pics should be added as well.

  • dickbrink (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@RotesAuto There are no faults showing the the report.

  • dickbrink (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@DORAEMON As per the service records the compression was checked and found to be excellent, however I do not have any specific records on each cylinder.

  • dickbrink (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@CarBidder The depth of the tire tread is on the description and on our web page www.texasmotorworks7.com. There are no leaks of any kind. The brakes works properly. There are no faults of any kind. The car is not near me at the moment, however the first of the week we can measure the thickness of the calipers if you like. We have all the records since new. There is no service of any kind needed on this car.

  • dickbrink (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@CarBidder Thank you for your question. We have a very thorough inspection done before we buy cars. It results in a score on a 5 point scale. This car scored at the top of the range. There is no question as to the quality of this car! However if you want to have the car inspected separately by a shop of your choice you are most welcome to do that.

  • RotesAuto (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago
