Revived in 2000 under BMW Group ownership, Mini debuted a modern take on the classic Cooper hatchback. This 2002 Canadian-market Cooper S is finished in Electric Blue over a black interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission, the Sport package, heated seats, and more. This R53 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Quebec showing less than 125k kilometers (~78k miles) on the odometer.
Designed by Frank Stephenson of Maserati MC12, Ferrari F430, and McLaren P1 fame, this R53 generation Mini Cooper is finished in Electric Blue with a black contrasting roof and mirrors. The optional Sport Package fits xenon headlights, front fog lamps, a rear spoiler, and 17” alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Premier A/S tires showing date codes from 2015. Standard chrome-trimmed exterior accents include the grille, headlight surrounds, door handles, and fuel cap. The seller notes a few minor chips on the front bumper and some prior paintwork. Inside, this R53 features Panther Black upholstered, heated sport seats with a silver accented dashboard and a central speedometer. The optional Premium Package fits a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, and an onboard computer. Other equipment includes an AM/FM radio, power windows, mirrors, and a climate-controlled glove compartment. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are stated to be functioning properly, with no warning lights present.
Powered by a supercharged and intercooled 1.6L Tritec inline four-cylinder engine, the Cooper S sends up to 160 HP and 150 lb.-ft of torque to its front wheels by way of a 6-speed Getrag manual transmission. The optional Sport Package equips Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). The seller notes that recent maintenance includes a new water pump, new front shocks, and the supercharger’s oil changed.

IMO, everyone selling or buying a car from an enthusiast website would be well served by images representing the condition of a car's underside.
FYI the sub 1k cost is to cover the import tax and the brokerage fees. These fees can be saved if one elects to do the paperwork himself. Easy peasy. Done it quite a few times.
For sub 1k the car is a US car. No need to change cluster if buyer is a private entity. Clutch is still original, good bite and no noises or slippage. Recent work is maintenance (oil, filter). Car is smooth and new owner will be happy.
What is involved in getting this car into the US? Are there Emission restrictions, excise tax's, VAT, etc? When was the clutch last changed or was it ever? Other than the work listed in the past couple of years, what work has been done?
How old are the tires, battery, last oil change etc. I don't see service records in the car fax? Nice looking car. BTW I've had three Minis, but all were new or new lease in the US. Have a 996- now but wife hates it wish's for another cooper.

Front suspension has been recently refurbished, Supercharger oil has been changed, all the cooling system has been refreshed including: Water pump, thermostat, Radiator, thermostat housing, all the hoses, all the clamps, expansion tank, accessory belt, Accessory belt tensioner and so much more. Whoever wins it will be happy. Also i can assist the buyer to cross the border and i can even deliver the car myself.
