We are pleased to present this 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera Targa finished in Seal Grey Metallic.  Offered between 2002 and 2004, the Targa is one of the rarest models of the 996 generation featuring a unique sliding glass roof system derived from the Porsche 993.  This 6-speed 2002 example came generously optioned with a black full leather interior, supple leather seats, the Advanced Technic Package, Comfort Package, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), and 18” Sport Design wheels.  Having received an LN Engineering IMS bearing upgrade in 2020, this Targa is now being offered for auction with just over 30k miles showing on the odometer.

This 996 comes finished in Seal Grey Metallic and features the redesigned headlamps debuted as part of the 2002 facelift. The seller notes only a few small touch-ups on the front end and reports that the front bumper may have been refinished at some point under prior ownership.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The sliding glass “greenhouse” roof system simulates an open-top driving experience and features a rear glass hatch that provides access to the storage compartment.  This Targa rides on factory-optioned 18” Sport Design wheel with color center crests and Michelin tires showing date codes from 2016/2017.

The premium black full leather interior includes optional supple leather front and rear seats along with the Heated Front Seats Package, Comfort Package, and Advanced Technic Package which adds Bi-Xenon headlights with washers and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.  The seller notes very minimal wear on the driver's seat bolsters and adds that all gauges and accessories are functioning properly.

This 996 is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine capable of producing up to 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque.  Power is delivered to the rear wheels by way of a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  Porsche Stability Management (PSM) was optioned from the factory which uses sensors to electronically stabilize the vehicle in hazardous driving conditions. The seller states that an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing was installed in 2020 and all other available maintenance history is provided on CARFAX.

This sale will include a set of keys, owner's manuals, a spare tire, and a clean title.  Quickly gaining favor among collectors and enthusiasts, this low mileage 996 Carrera Targa offers an opportunity that is not to be missed.

@Hotwheels As mentioned above, we believe the front bumper has been resprayed. To the best of our knowledge, we believe the rest of the paintwork on the vehicle is original.

  • TMV (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@drbruno Yes, we will be posting a video of that up, along with operation of the rear wing.

  • Hotwheels (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Also, is the paint all original? No previous paint work?

  • drbruno (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Can you post a video of the targa roof opening and closing please.

  • TMV (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Hotwheels The A/C functions as it should, as with everything else. Spoiler and top are in working order, with no excessive noise (I will try to post a video). We have not performed a compression test. We have not noticed any smoke from the tailpipe upon hot starts. The wheels are free of curb rash, and the clutch functions as it should (the clutch release bearing was replaced when the IMS was done). The vehicle comes with one fob and one valet key. We will work on trying to arrange a driving video.

  • Hotwheels (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Does the A/C along with everything else function properly? Spoiler and top work properly and aren’t excessively noisey? Has a compression test been done? Any smoke from tailpipe on hot start up? Any mechanical work required? Clutch is fine? Any curb rash on wheels? Can you do a driving video and also videos of spoiler and top operation. Also, do you only have one key with fob?

@tonyagc A cold start video and picture of the rear window have been added.

  • TMV (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@tonyagc Sure, we will work on getting a startup video posted. As far as the rear glass goes, I don't see any marks, perhaps it could be a small air bubble in the tint (I will try to add a photo of the rear glass as well).

  • tonyagc (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hi...Any chance we can see a cold start video? Also, can you provide a closer shot of the mark, looks like a mark, on the rear glass hatch right below the rear wiper blade....Thank you.

@DJL777 There is an IMS Retrofit sticker on the driver's side door (I will see if I can add it to the photos), we also have a physical service record for this. In regards to registering the vehicle, any registration fee would be in addition to the dealer fee. We are only able to register vehicles in FL, as we are a FL dealer. If you live outside of FL, it will be your responsibility to register the vehicle.

  • DJL777 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TMV - does this cover the title and registration fees?

  • DJL777 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TMV - thanks for response, do you know which type of IMS as they only have a short guarantee?
I could not see the IMS sticker in your photos.
Are you able to provide the documentation for this?

  • TMV (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@DJL777 The IMS bearing kit is by LN engineering, it was installed in April of 2020. We do not have any rev range data.

  • TMV (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @DJL777 Hello,

Our dealer fees are not only required, but standard for all transactions processed through our dealership. This comes in the amount of a $499 doc fee.

  • DJL777 2 years, 8 monthsago

Please can you share what type of IMS was installed and share the Rev Range data. Thanks

  • DJL777 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hi, What are the dealer fees for?

  • mineralfarmer (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Sure has had a lot of alignments and tire changes. And oil changes!

  • TMV (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hello everyone, thank you for your interest in this very special vehicle. We will do our absolute best to answer any questions you may have. Good luck and happy bidding!
