2003 Porsche 986 Boxster 5-Speed

Now available at auction is this 2003 Porsche 986 Boxster finished in Black over a black standard leather interior. This Boxster was delivered new to Manhattan Motorcars in May of 2003 and subsequently sold to the second owner in Florida at approximately 14k miles, where it remained until being relocated to Louisiana by the current owner. It has benefitted from a recent service in February of 2022 that included an oil and filter change, a new cabin air filter, a brake system flush, a new water pump and thermostat, new spark plugs, new struts front and rear, and new rotors, pads, and sensors for the front brakes. Equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and optional 17” Boxster S wheels, this 986 is now being offered at auction by the seller based out of Louisiana while showing approximately 34k on the odometer.

This Boxster is finished in Black (741) with a matching power-operated soft top, and the exterior is said to exhibit no major flaws besides typical wear for its age. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Equipment includes body-colored mirror caps, quarter panel air vents, a speed-activated rear spoiler, roll hoops, a glass rear window with a defogger, and a central exhaust outlet. The optional 17” Boxster S II wheels wear Rieken Raptor tires showing date codes from 2018, and the center caps will be replaced prior to the sale.

The interior of this Boxster is appointed with a black standard leather interior featuring an optional remote-control alarm system, Porsche-branded floormats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power accessories, and a factory CDR23 AM/FM radio, which has been upgraded with aftermarket speakers using the factory covers.

This first-generation Boxster is equipped with a mid-mounted 2.7L flat-six engine that sends up to 228 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque through the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Performance features include Variable Camshaft Control, front and rear stabilizer bars, and a 4-piston monobloc brake system. The seller reports this 986 to be up to date on all necessary maintenance, and recent service performed in February of 2022 comprised of an oil and filter change, a new water pump and thermostat, replacement of the cabin air filter, a new fuel cap, a flush of the brake system, new rotors and pads for the front brakes, new spark plugs, and new hood struts in the front and rear.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s books, and service records.

This is an attractive, low mileage ‘03 Boxster. That being said, the reserve of $23K is unrealistic. This example is a base Boxster with very few options. On a good day on that “other website,” it surely would have bid higher, $23K is highly optimistic. Just my opinion. Hope a deal with high bidder can be made.

@Blubusdrvr no knowledge of any IMS replacement, no.

  • Blubusdrvr (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

I’m guessing the IMS is the original?

  • Nolasport (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@Xcellr8 the frunk and trunk struts or “Decklid shocks” were replaced. No work was performed to the suspension under my ownership.

  • Xcellr8 (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

Seller, please clarify the information about the new struts. In my reading of the sale information I am left with the understanding that new suspension struts front and rear have been installed. Yet when I look at the work orders, I do not see suspension struts, but instead I find hood struts. Please confirm if new suspension struts have been installed. Thank you.
