Offered for auction is this 2004 Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic over Graphite/Anthracite AMG Leather.  Among the top performers of the W220 S-Class, the S55 AMG features a handcrafted V8 supercharged engine producing nearly 500 HP and well over 500 lb.-ft of torque.  This 2004 example comes equipped with an automatic closing system, Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, Bi-Xenon headlamps, Burred Walnut Root trim, the Memory Package, and more.  It was sold on PCARMARKET earlier in November of 2020 and has since undergone several maintenance items including replacement of Xenon bulbs, tire pressure sensors, hydraulic trunk pump, and battery.  Currently showing just over 86k miles on the odometer, this S55 AMG is being offered for auction by its owner out of New York.

This W220 comes finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic with an AMG-specific front fascia, side skirts, and 18″ AMG double-spoke wheels.  The wheels were refinished and dressed in new Continental tires shortly before the current owner’s purchase in 2020, and the rear passenger-side tire was replaced once again in January of 2022 along with the installation of all-new tire pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS).  Both the front and rear bumper had been previously refinished, and some light road-going wear is noted on the front end.  Aftermarket wheel center caps have been fitted as well. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is trimmed in Graphite/Anthracite AMG leather with Burl Walnut Root inlays on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include the Memory Package for the driver’s seat, steering column and side mirrors, automatic climate control, an automatic closing system, dynamic front seats, COMAND infotainment with navigation, cruise control, an electric rear window roller blind, a premium audio system, and an electric sliding sunroof. The seller confirms all accessories remain functional apart from the CD changer, although the hydraulically assisted trunk lid is slow to operate and is slightly misaligned when closed.

Hand-assembled by AMG, the 5.4L produces up to 493 HP and 516 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. The S55 comes with large 8-piston front and 4-piston rear brake calipers as well the Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system for improved ride quality and performance.  Service carried out shortly before the current owner’s purchase included all new fluids and filters, belts, replacement of the right-rear shock, and a new power trunk actuator.  More recent service in January of 2022 included new Xenon headlamp bulbs, replacement of a pneumatic driver seat bladder, installation of a hydraulic trunk pump, and a new battery.  Corresponding invoices are available for reference.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, some service records, and a clean title.

thanks for the replies. if i used a transport to pick up the car, would you be willing to assist on that end?

  • Beeker1320 (seller) 2 yearsago

@rsabeebe yes that’s all the records. Dealer did recommend new pump and I went with used and only lasted a few mths. But trunk was evenly closed while it worked

  • rsabeebe (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

@beeker1320 So do you believe just the trunk pump motor needs to be replaced? Has this been diagnosed by a shop/dealer?

  • rsabeebe (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

is the only available paperwork what is shown in the auction pics? any prior history?

  • Beeker1320 (seller) 2 yearsago

@rsabeebe so the pump that closes the trunk is weak and on its way out. It’s placed on that side and so it Dosent pull all the way down

  • rsabeebe (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

what happened to the trunk? you can see it's not only misaligned, but raised up towards the window on the passenger side? any insight on how the hinges or trunk was bent? curious why this was not repaired.
