Up for auction is this 2004 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Polar Silver Metallic over a Metropol Blue interior.  This nicely appointed 6-speed Cabriolet commanded an original sticker price of over $88k with options including leather Sport Seats, Porsche crested headrests, and the Aluminum/Chrome Package.  With a new clutch and IMS bearing installed at 28k miles, this 996 is now being offered for auction by its third owner out of New York while showing just over 34k miles on the odometer.

This Carrera is finished in Polar Silver Metallic with a Metropol Blue cabriolet top.  Exclusive stainless-steel tailpipes are also included as part of the Aluminum/Chrome Package (Y29).  The seller reports several minor stone chips throughout the exterior as well as a few touched-up chips in the driver’s door jamb, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  This 996 was optioned with 18” Light Alloy Carrera wheels that are currently dressed in a set of Continental ExtremeContact tires.

The driver is situated within a Metropol Blue interior featuring heated leather Sport Seats with Exclusive Porsche crested headrests.  Optional stainless steel door entry guards with model logos are equipped along with aluminum-look instrument dials as part of the Aluminum/Chrome Package.  Other factory options include a shifter and brake handle in leather/aluminum and the Bose High-End Sound Package.  An upgraded Sony radio has been installed along with a separate amplifier and the original Porsche radio will be included with the sale as well.  Some wear is depicted on the seatbacks and the seller reports all instrumentation and accessories to be fully functional, although the driver’s seat heating is noted to come on slowly.

This second-generation 996 Carrera derives up to 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque from a 3.6L flat-six engine. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission, providing a 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds.  The IMS bearing is said to have been addressed along with the installation of a new clutch at 28k miles.  CARFAX also shows maintenance to have been carried out consistently by Porsche Gold Coast up until 21,848 miles including a 15k-mile recommended serviced in 2010.

This sale will include a set of owner's manuals, the original Porsche CDR23 radio, a spare tire, and a clean title.  For any Porsche enthusiast in search of a 6-speed Cabriolet, this well-optioned, low mileage 996 Carrera makes a fantastic choice.

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@vaughnson We just posted screenshots of the reports my mechanic ran. He said the reports of the events would have shown if there were any over rev events.

  • wscotte84 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Picture #44 appears to show a crack in the right side convertible frame. Is this causing any current issues with leaking or windows when top is up? Thanks

@vaughnson I had my Porsche mechanic connect up to the computer and showed me various reports and one of them was an "events" report that showed no events. I'm trying to get that posted now.

What manufacturer is the mil gauge?
Does it measure in 10ths of a mil? Or in .5 increments?
Is the option sticker still in front trunk?
If I missed it my apology.

I just purchased the twin to this car, albeit a ‘02 in artic silver with 34K. Everyone loves this color combo and you’ll have an absolute blast driving it. This one has a long way to go on bidding.

@fgdevries yes spoiler raises at about 70 mph

  • fgdevries (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Does the back spoiler turn on and come out when vehicle is in motion?

  • fgdevries (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @bkpnet thank you

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@fgdevries some of them may have been from children’s feet or packages in the back seat. I never notice them because the screen is always on.

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

The back of the seat rubs against the windscreen and caused the rub marks across the top.

  • fgdevries (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hello, why are the back of the seats full of scratches, etc.? Thank you!

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Mercyhealth Thank you for starting the party! I agree with you on the interior. The Silver blue exterior and blue interior are what attracted me to this car. It is unique!

Love the alumina package it makes the interior look special. Not sure how important the DME is in a 996 with only 2 ranges.
    Let’s get this party started.

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

DJ, I'm having the rev data report run tomorrow, stand by

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Ok. that is what I thought. I don't have that right now but let me look into it.

  • DJL777 2 years, 8 monthsago

@bkpnet - any Porsche specialist can plug into the car computer to provide a report on the amount of over revs stored on the computer. A very simple and quick process. Any of the aforementioned mechanics you mentioned should know how to do this. Pretty sure all readers would like to see this.

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

DJ, can you explain what you mean by "over rev data?"

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help.

  • bkpnet (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hello, The Carfax below shows the service history before I bought the car and I included a few photos of service records for the IMC bearing, clutch etc. The carfax also shows a few oil changes from "Easy Rider " which is a specialty repair shop. What the carfax does not show are a few other oil changes from the Carrea Shop in the first couple of years that I owned the car. I changed the oil every year when I had the car inspected so basically every 3K miles I drove the can each year. Other than that the car has not needed anything else. It's been super reliable.

  • DJL777 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hi, do you have service records and the over rev data? Thanks in advance.
