In 2004, Porsche expanded its model range with the introduction of the first GT3 RS, a purebred street-legal race car with a limited production run for homologation. It conformed to the FIA N-GT rules and featured an advanced lightweight design with improved aerodynamics as well as racing safety equipment, an adjustable track-tuned suspension, and a 381 HP flat-six Mezger engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. This example is one of only 682 produced in total and comes finished in a rare Carrara White and Blue combination with optional ceramic brakes (PCCB). Having never seen track use, it was sourced and imported from Belgium to the U.S. by Porsche expert Prescott Kelly. The car was properly federalized to meet DOT and EPA standards for registration under Show and Display, an extensive process costing in excess of $100k. It was fully serviced upon importation and has remained part of an esteemed Porsche collection in New York ever since. An integral piece of Porsche history and a tremendously rare sight on North American roads, this GT3 RS is now being offered for auction with just over 17k miles on the odometer.

A development of the standard 996.2 GT3, the RS version was optimized with a front chin spoiler and additional air vents for the radiator in the nose as well as a larger carbon fiber rear wing and a ram-air intake on the engine lid. The weight was also reduced with the use of carbon fiber mirrors, a polycarbonate rear window, and a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic bonnet. This example is finished in Carrara White with contrasting Blue graphics and painted wheels. It is the rarer of two color combinations that were offered from the factory and is believed to represent about 20% of the cars produced in total. The 18” GT3 wheels feature “RS” logo center caps and come dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Due to the unique nature of its composite material, the hood of the GT3 RS model was subject to paint bubbling; and the hood of this example was professionally refinished to an exceptionally high standard upon importation. The front end has also been preserved under a layer of clear paint protection film, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin of the GT3 RS is factory-optimized for track use with lightweight cloth fixed-back Recaro bucket seats as well as a 6-point driver’s safety harness, a fire extinguisher, and a bolt-in roll cage. This example features blue seatbelts and grey Alcantara trim covering the steering wheel, shift knob, and handbrake lever. Driver amenities include automatic climate control, power windows and mirrors, a central locking system, a CD storage compartment, and a Porsche CDR23 stereo.

The GT3 RS shares its naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine with the standard GT3 and features revised intake and exhaust ports for race homologation. Up to 381 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The GT3 RS features a track-tuned suspension with progressive springs, stiffer dampers, adjustable control arms, and redesigned wheel carriers. This example is equipped with optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) which offer superior heat and fade resistance compared to the standard cast iron discs. This car was fully serviced upon importation and was federalized to meet EPA requirements including updates to the fuel tank, computer programming, and dashboard lights. It has been sparingly driven as part of the current owner’s collection and was professionally maintained by an in-house technician.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, toolkit, a car cover, a Show and Display registration, and documentation for import and federalization.

@EUROsellinc Aside from the DOT-required changes that were mentioned in the description, were there any other modifications made to the car? I can't see any off the top of my head

  • gblue (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

After I had my car federalized, no parts were returned to me so it’s a given that they can’t be passed on or used after federalization

  • gblue (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

Having owned the same car with the red graphics, I can tell you this, there’s probably at least a 20% premium for the blue graphic cars because so few of them were made… They rarely come up for sale and with the low mileage and the fact that the car was federalized, and can be driven on the street makes this one a winner. When I sold my car that had a Montana title, no one ever contacted the DOT… It may be a requirement but from my experience, there’s no enforcement and the title transfer was not an issue. As far as I know you can drive at 2500 miles per year on the street but there is nobody That controls or checks on those numbers… All of this is my personal experience…

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@guitarnyc I confirmed that it is not legal as per DOT to supply the parts that were changed. Apologies, bought the car some years ago and it was not fresh in my mind. I had to make a call to confirm. Good luck if bidding.

This is without a doubt the finest 996 GT3 RS that I've ever seen for sale. Absolutely stunning.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@Andrew2337 Hi Andrew. Show and display titled cars can be registered and driven. There is an annual mileage restriction (under 3k I believe) and a special form would need to be sent to DOT should the car change ownership again. Thank you for the interest. If. You have any other questions feel free to send a private message. Good luck!

  • Andrew2337 (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

With the importation type mentioned can it be driven or only show and display until 2028?

  • Mk (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

Do you know any experts chime in as to the name of the colour of the blue graphics?? Beautiful raw and clean car, much more appealing to me than the newer versions with all the fancy bits and pieces

  • guitarnyc (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

Are the OEM parts that WETL removed/replaced available with the car?

  • ryangfriedman (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

Not the same car! The one you’ve seen at our shop has steel brakes (red)…this has pccb (yellow). And yes- a vin search would show you two different cars! The only coincidence is that I want every 996 gt3 rs that’s in the usa!

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 6 monthsago

@Bruno911 definitely not accurate. A simple vin search can fact check that for you. Eurosellinc represents vehicles for enthusiasts/collectors that choose to send their vehicle to PCM HQ to display for auction. feel free to send a private message via contact seller button if you have e serious interest. Thank you.

  • Bruno911 6 monthsago

@EUROsellinc apologies for making that assumption if not accurate. Just seemed very coincidental. So what is the relationship between EurosellInc and PCARMarket?

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 6 monthsago

@MANDREWS hello and thank you as well for the interest. We will add the date codes to the lisitng tomorrow for you.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 6 monthsago

    @Bruno911 hello
We appreciate the interest. As this is a very rare and exclusive automobile, we do ask that everyone not make comments stating things that are not true. While Ryan Friedman did have(or currently has) a very similar car, we would like to state with certainty that this is NOT the car that was for sale at Ryan F. This car was in a private collection and has NEVER been offered for sale in the US until this very auction. Thank you.

  • Stevencp 6 monthsago

    Nice ride!!

  • Bruno911 6 monthsago

Is the seller EurosellInc the same company as PCAR market? This car was also recently listed for sale on Ryan Friedman’s website and now I see he is bidding for it. Interesting.

These are really interesting cars when you can find them here in the states. Your paint meter readings have 2 pictures with high readings. What parts of the car are those from? Which sections of the car have a clear bra on them and when was it installed? Any close up photos of the carbon rotors? Curious if there is any wear from hard driving (which I know is what the car was built for}. What’s the date code on the tires?
