Developed as a street-legal purebred race car, the original GT3 RS offered extensive lightweight technology along with a track-focused cockpit, refined suspension, and additional aerodynamic features. Never officially sold in North America, it is regarded among the most sought-after water-cooled Porsches ever built. This 2004 example is one of 682 produced in total and comes finished in Carrara White with contrasting blue accents along with optional ceramic composite brakes, a painted center console, and Riviera Blue seatbelts. The car was produced for the German market and imported to Italy in 2006 where it is now being offered for auction showing approximately 46k kilometers or 28k miles on the odometer.

The GT3 RS came standard in Carrara White with the customer’s choice of either Red or Blue graphics and matching wheel centers inspired by the original Carrera RS of the early 1970s. This example features the much rarer option of Blue along with yellow-painted calipers which are included with the ceramic composite brake system. Compared to a standard GT3, the RS features a front chin spoiler and additional air vents for the radiator in the nose as well as exposed carbon fiber mirrors, a rear wing, and a ram-air intake on the engine lid. A polycarbonate rear window is also used to save weight in addition to a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic bonnet. The seller notes the car was previously refinished in its original color and some bubbling is present on the hood. The 18″ GT3 wheels are mounted with new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup N4 tires measuring 235/40 up front and 295/30 in the rear.

The lightweight cockpit is fitted with a Carrara White painted roll cage complemented by an Exclusive painted rear center console and seatbelts in Riviera Blue. The GT3 RS features cloth fixed-back Recaro bucket seats as standard factory equipment as well as a 6-point driver’s safety harness, a fire extinguisher, and Alcantara trim covering the steering wheel, shift knob, and handbrake lever. This example was further optioned with climate control, a top-tinted windscreen, headlamp washers, Litronic xenon headlights, and a Porsche CDR-23 radio.

The GT3 RS shares the same naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine with the standard GT3 apart from revised intake and exhaust porting for race homologation. A factory-claimed output of 381 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The GT3 RS features a unique suspension with progressive springs, stiffer dampers, adjustable control arms, and redesigned wheel carriers. This example uses optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) which are more heat and fade-resistant than the cast iron units offered as standard. The seller states the ECU was previously replaced due to manufacturer recall and an upgraded Cargraphic exhaust has been installed, although the original exhaust will also be included.

This sale will include documentation, owner’s manuals, and a clean title. It should be noted that this vehicle may only be imported to the United States under special exemptions such as "Show or Display", or after 25 years from its date of production.

@Tsol unfortunately we are not sure of what happened. In our opinion it was a very small bump on the right side but nothing structural

  • Tsol (registered bidder) 1 yearago

Looks like it has been smacked in RF? Can you confirm?

The 2004 GT3 appears in the “non-conforming vehicles eligible for import” list and therefore could be imported to the US via a Registered Importer, rather than using the show and display rule. I’m not sure if the RS version would be included in this, but it would be worth checking. I thought the 2004 GT3RS was specifically listed also, but I can’t see it on the current list. Might be worth US buyers calling a registered importer and checking to try to avoid the restrictions of show and display.
