The car is factory-equipped with optional 18” GT3 wheels, stainless-steel exhaust pipes, stainless-steel door sills, aluminum instrument dials, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), and heated front seats with adjustable lumbar support. This 996 was purchased new from Porsche North Scottsdale and remained in Arizona with its original owner until 2022. It was acquired by the seller in 2023 and benefits from services over the past 5 years including new window regulators, engine mounts, a convertible top headliner, a new fuel pump, and a rear spoiler kit. Showing approximately 45k miles on the odometer, this 911 Turbo Cabriolet is now being offered for auction.

This 996 is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a power-operated black convertible top. Equipment includes xenon headlights, fog lights, Turbo-specific bumpers and side air intakes, optional stainless-steel quad exhaust tips, a speed-activated rear spoiler, red brake calipers, and optional 18” GT3 wheels dressed in Sumitomo tires from 2019. The convertible top headliner was replaced in 2022 and both side window regulators have been replaced in the last 5 years. The seller indicates minor blemishes on the upper mid dashboard where the previous owner had a radar detector mounted.

Producing up to 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft of torque, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine drives all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Performance features include an Automatic Brake Differential (ABD), Porsche Stability Management (PSM), and fixed 4-piston brakes with 330mm cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The seller states the clutch was replaced in 2021, new engine mounts were installed in 2022, and the fuel pump was replaced in 2023.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire inflator, a car cover, a battery trickle charger, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This vehicle has been exceptionally maintained since new. Low miles, clean look, and drives like new. All typical service issues including the spoiler hydraulics and softcover top have been replaced. This vehicle underwent a PPI at Patrick Motorsports in 2022 prior to acquisition by the seller, noting no issues. A fun car for either road trips or getting around town.”

Of course many would like to buy these for 50k, but compared to a 981 or 718 for example. Metzger vs DFI engine it’s not even close. So poor @farner28 and myself are keeping it @50k 🤣

  • pbroadwa (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

Nice car. Probably spot on, on the price.

Owner bought this for like $66k 2 years ago, I would be surprised if he let it go for $50k.

  • farner28 (seller) 2 weeksago

just to correct the record, I located the DME report and the range 2 revs was 18. So more than 5, had been a couple years so forgive my memory, but still a very low number and shows how lightly this car has been driven.

  • mineralfarmer (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

@jamride I didn't realize they did such a thing, but it makes sense that they would.

  • jamride (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

Must be close and working with top bidder and seller to put something together

    It's processing a loooong time..... :-)

  • farner28 (seller) 2 weeksago

@Paddle911 let me go back and check on the brakes. I know they were recently inspected and looked good. As for DME, I know I reviewed it because there were less than 5 range 2 from what I recall. Let me search for it. Was very clean. Prior owner was a doctor, and this was a commuter car that didn't get a lot of use. Never tracked or driven hard. This was primary reason I purchased it, the care and use from prior owner.

Sorry if I missed them in the documents, but when was the last brake pad and rotor change? I also didn't see the DME/over-rev numbers.

@grandwazoo none at all. That was with prior owner and since I acquired it I haven't had any sign. Also, it has been in the shop a few times for oil and maintenance and mechanics at PM checked it over.

Any other rodent issues after the nest was removed? Here in Colorado it seems once a rat/mouse makes a home, they leave enough scent that you always have critters in the vehicles after that initial breech.

  • mineralfarmer (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

@MkTribbie coolant pipes CAN be an issue for street car driven at street RPM. Mine blew, necessitating a 300-mile tow to dealer and a 11K repair (did clutch and a couple other things while engine was out). It's not uncommon.

It’s funny a 981 GTS 50k in 3 days. I had and tracked Cayman S and even GT4 they’re great fun. However a Metzger engine 996 turbo is a superior car! Faster stronger and carries golf clubs! I bought a turbo Cab also because it’s unlikely they’ve seen a track. “Best value today period” IMO.

  • MkTribbie (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

@tdn_porsche No borescope needed for 996 Turbo Mezger motor. No IMS issues either. Coolant lines not a problem for street cars driven at street+ RPMs.
Best for future buyers and tire kickers to get well informed via Google, local owners and other sources.
The Mezger 996tt is in a separate and elite league far and above the 996 NA car.

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

@farner28 seems the only people who have driven a gen 5 turbo understand what an awesome 911 it is regardless of its age. Unfortunately the stigma of the 996 model (though not warranted) will continue to hold down the selling price. Good luck on the auction we can only hope in the future the 996 turbo will gain a small piece of fame similar to the 993.

  • farner28 (seller) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

@GLH thanks for the inquiry. The radiator is original, and I do not believe the coolant pipes have been pinned. I went back through the service records one more time just to confirm there have been no issues with the cooling system in the past. One service during prior ownership they replaced the coolant cap, but otherwise no mention of any issues or leaks.

  • farner28 (seller) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

@Mercyhealth this is the only 996 turbo I have driven, but I am really impressed with the responsiveness and power. Especially for a 20+ year old all original car.

    Coolant pipes pinned?
    Radiators replaced?

Seems a bit out of place to ask for a bore scope analysis in this engine. That study is not needed in this 996.
I have to chuckle when I see bidders fall all over themselves when a 996 C4S is presented with its highly flawed M96. This is somewhat an embarrassment that the bid is not even 5 figures with 1 plus day left. Even one of the best engines Porsche has ever made remains under the clouds of the 996 badge.

@tdn_porsche thanks for the inquiry. I will be able to upload a cold start video sometime tomorrow. All the information from the ppi that i received from the seller is included with the maintenance records.

  • tdn_porsche 2 weeks, 4 daysago

Great 996T example. Can you share a copy of the PPI completed by Patrick MS in 2022? Ideally that included a borescope of the cylinders to check for scoring and a diagnostic overrev report. Also, a cold-start video is appreciated.

@GeorgeD33 space constraints. We are considering relocating, will be difficult to manage all our vehicles through that process. Had to make some hard choices and may sell one more vehicle as well next month. I really enjoyed this car and hope it finds a good home. Driven twice to Palm Springs and once to Vegas this past year, so much fun.

  • GeorgeD33 (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

So why are you selling after owning it for less than 2 years?

  • farner28 (seller) 2 weeks, 5 daysago

@mineralfarmer bmw makes nice cars, have a 2011 m3, but still love my porsches.

  • mineralfarmer (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 5 daysago

I've owned a 996 Turbo and it was an amazing car, but it's sad that this $125000 car suffered clutch slave cylinder failure at 12,000 miles, generator failure at 26,000 miles, and door lock and top failures by 40,000 miles. (Mine blew out a coolant tube, necessitating a tow from the roadside and then 300 miles to a dealership.) Soaring prices and declining reliability drove me from Porsche, after many P-cars and decades of devotion, to BMW.

  • Vdm9 (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 6 daysago

    Great car!!!
I own the sister car and can tell you these cars are one of the best bang for the buck cars Porsche has. Reliable Mezger engine that is amazing!!! These cars are light weight, all wheel drive, and powerful.
No connection with the seller, but these are extremely undervalued.
