Produced for one year only and limited to 5,000 examples in total, the 2004 Volkswagen Mk4 R32 was the pinnacle of VWs R-line featuring a VR6 engine, 5-speed manual transmission, and Haldex based 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. This Magic Black Pearl example was delivered new in North Carolina and spent time in Kentucky where it was acquired by the current owner. Now showing approximately 180k on the odometer, this R32 is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Tennesee.

The exterior is finished in Magic Black Pearl (LC9Z) and features revised bumper covers, side skirts, a rear spoiler, blue brake calipers, and twin polished exhaust tips unique to the R32. The gray-finished 17” MSW alloy wheels are wrapped in Sumitomo HTR Z III tires and show some curb marks. The seller also notes some faded paint and stone chips on the hood, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The interior is upholstered in black leather with heated Konig sport seats, R32-branded door-sill plates, a thickened leather-wrapped steering wheel, R32-badged instrumentation, and aluminum pedal covers. Other amenities include a Monsoon audio system, onboard computer, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a power sunroof. The seller reports a tear in the passenger-side seat bolster and some areas of leather that have aged with time.

The Mk4 R32 is equipped with a 3.2-liter VR6 rated at 240 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox delivers power to all four wheels through a Haldex-based 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, allowing the R32 to accelerate to 60 MPH in 6.2 seconds. The seller reports a recent battery replacement and fluid exchanges were performed in preparation for the next owner.

This sale will include owner's manuals and a clean title.

In regards to the video of the engine running under the hood, I saw this car on another site previously and the seller took an excellent video so I could hear for any chain noise and it sounded amazing, with no signs of noise. Was heavily considering buying this car, but found the DBP color that we really wanted. This is a nice example of an R32! Maybe this black will compliment our blue? lol. GLWTS!

    Hi all,

Thanks for the comments so far. I’ll get another video of the cold start with the hood open. It does run really smooth. Unfortunately no history of chains/guides or clutch on this. I’ll see if I can get a VCDS readout on chain stretch. Have tried this in the past.

x2 on timing chain/tensioner servicing. Video of open engine bay with audio of engine cold start would be ideal. Is that water damage on the driver-side rear seat where leather is starting to shrink?

These are great cars. I had one about 10 years ago and I loved driving it. @Miles.S do you have any service records for the timing chains or haldex? Is it possible to get a cold start video and driving video?
