We are pleased to offer this 2005 Mercedes-Benz R230 SL55 AMG finished in Black over a Black/Anthracite leather interior. The fifth-generation Mercedes SL-Class was introduced in 2001 as the first to feature a power-retractable hardtop. The SL55 was the highest performance model available from 2002 through 2008 and came equipped with a 5.4L supercharged V8 engine producing nearly 500 HP. This 2005 example was acquired by the seller from Global BMW of Atlanta in 2015 and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia showing just under 93k miles on the odometer.
This example is finished in Black (040) and features AMG-specific bodywork, Parktronic parking assist, Bi-xenon headlamps, a matching power-retractable hardtop, and 18” AMG 5-spoke wheels dressed in a set of new Michelin Pilot Sport tires within the last two years. A few chips are noted throughout the exterior, detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is upholstered in Black/Anthracite leather with burl walnut veneers. Amenities include a deployable roll bar, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, Parktronic, Keyless Go, a premium sound system, CD changer, and COMAND infotainment system with navigation. A hidden Passport laser radar detector has been installed and comes with the original manual. A small crack is noted on the center console plastic trim.
Power comes from a supercharged 5.4-liter M113 V8 which produces up to 493 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission with a manual shifting mode. This example is equipped with Active Body Control suspension, which helps to minimize body movement while cornering, braking, and acceleration. The CARFAX report shows 24 service history records dating back to 2004, and most recently a new battery was installed in March of 2022. Records are included from the current ownership and detail service completed by RBM and Epic Automotive of Georgia.
This sale will include all service records going back to 2015 and a clean title.

All of these SL55s are future classics. It is one incredible ride at any price.
Hope the high bidder got a good buy, though, at just under 18k. Worth that for sure.
There are 6 or 7 for sale at dealers right now, between 19.5k and 23k, with mileage 80k to 112k. Check all the most popular car-selling sites.

@geswaim Thanks for the comments. As the owner, and a biased lover of this car, I completely agree. This is amazing car that originally cost about $125K. It is indeed a steal for the auction price. Whomever gets it will have an amazing car for a fraction of the original price. It will look and drive like a $125K car.

Has the ABS pump been replaced? Date and mileage for tune-up and transmission service? Have the engine and transmission mounts been replaced? Does everything work as it should?
Nice SL55 AMG, I own one of these special cars and it drives like no other roadster that I've experienced. When the magazine reviewers write that this is a supercar in its own right, they aren't kidding. The performance but elegant feel of this particular model of car is unmatched in any other brand and model I have found. GLWA.
