Available for auction is this 2005 Porsche 987 Boxster finished in Carmon Red Metallic over a Sand Beige interior. Marking the inaugural model year for the 987, this 2005 example is said to be a lifelong California car that has been under the care of the same family from new. Factory equipment includes a 5-speed manual transmission, automatic climate control, heated seats, auto-dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor, xenon headlights, 18″ Boxster S wheels, and the Bose Surround Sound System. With just over 40k miles showing on the odometer, this nicely presented Boxster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This Boxster is finished in Carmon Red Metallic with a Cocoa Brown retractable soft top. The car is said to have always been garage kept and primarily used as a casual weekend driver. A few minor imperfections are depicted in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Exterior features include bi-xenon headlights with washers, integrated front fog lights, side air intakes, a central exhaust outlet, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. Optional 18” Boxster S wheels are fitted with colored Porsche center crests and a mixed set of Michelin and Continental tires.
Inside, the Sand Beige standard leather interior offers heated seats, automatic climate control, self-dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor, the Bose Surround Sound System, and power accessories. All gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly and some typical wear is noted on the soft-touch climate controls.
The mid-mounted 2.7L flat-six engine generates up to 240 HP and 199 lb.-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels by way of a desirable 5-speed manual transmission. Recent invoices from Porsche Irvine show a multi-point inspection to have been carried out in January of 2021 as well as the installation of a new xenon headlight bulb and ignition lock unit. Another invoice from Euro Motors in 2013 shows the replacements of the rear brake pads and rotors, brake pad sensors, a brake fluid flush, and an oil/filter service at 33,863 miles. There is no record of an IMS bearing replacement. The corresponding invoices are provided for reference in the photo gallery along with a service history on CARFAX.

@estiles001 so the key fob has not been replaced. The key my cousin gave me in order to wash and photograph the car is in perfect condition. I assume it’s the “less used” one. She said the other key sometimes pops apart but she just pops it back together. Without having it in front of me I don’t know how else to describe it. She says she uses that key as her primary key (which is probably the reason why the key I have is in good condition).
Another key question - photo 81 from the Jan 2021 service visit mentions a cracked key fob that sometimes comes apart - can you verify whether this has been replaced/repaired, or if it's still in the same state?
@tomerific just got replies from all the prior owners and it has not been smoked in.
@tomerific yes the tool kit is present and complete although the two circular clips that pin it into place at the top are missing.
@tomerific I have sent out text messages to my aunt and cousins to find out if they smoked in the car. Only one of the three ever smoked but she is pretty selective of when she smokes. As soon as I hear back I will pass on the response. With regard to the keys, both sets will be included with the sale.
One additional question: Do you have the tool kit?

@veselin.georg you can absolutely ask but you will likely be disappointed as the reserve is kept between the auction site and the sellers for the purpose of emcouraging bidding and getting the best market price. Hello everyone hope you all had a safe and fun 4th of July. The manufacture date on the door is 05/05. I uploaded some photos of tread depth (using the penny method) . Tires are Michelin pilot sports (25/17) front and Continental extreme contact (47/14) in the rears. I do not have any receipts for IMS replacement so I cannot make any representations on whether it was done.
What was the manufacturing date of your Boxster, that is the real question to the IMS possible problem.

Too bad you have mixed tires on your Porsche, what are the dates of the tires and depth? NO IMS bearing replacement will bring you a much lower selling prices as menay will take that into consideration of doing the replacement, Good Luck
Hello everyone. Thank you for checking out this auction. This is my first auction with PCar market although I have had success selling my 911 on a similar auction site. I am helping my cousin with the sale of this excellent 987 Boxster.
A little bit about the car. As the listing states, it is a one family, 3 owner car. It was purchased new by my aunt and sold to one of my cousins, she kept it for a few years and in turn sold it to another cousin (all on the same side). All three have used the car as weekend cruisers and kept the car primarily in Orange County. With a few short trips to LA and Sam Diego. I believe the car was originally purchased from Hoenh in San Diego.
The car has never been tracked any retains its original paint.
I am helping my cousin sell this car and as such I have limited experience in the 987. I will base answers and feedback on my general Porsche knowledge and my driving experience prepping the vehicle for this auction.
