This 2006 Porsche 997 Carrera 4S Cabriolet comes finished in Black and appointed with a Brown Natural Leather interior. At an original sticker price of over $112k, this 4S also came optioned with illuminated door sills, a leather steering column casing, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Bose High-End Sound Package, and a 6-speed manual transmission. It benefits from a previous IMS bearing replacement and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California showing just over 13k miles on the odometer.
Sporting wide fenders specific to the 4S, this Cabriolet is finished in Black and rides on factory 19” 911 Turbo wheels paired with 5mm spacers and Pirelli P Zero tires. Exclusive stainless steel exhaust pipes were also selected as a factory option. Some light scratches are noted near the door handles, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with Brown Natural leather upholstery including optional supple leather seats and additional leather trim covering the steering column casing. Other options include instrument dials in Brown, heated front seats, the Power Seat Package, illuminated door sill guards in stainless steel, Bose High-End Sound Package, and Navigation for PCM. Some scuff marks are noted by the center console storage door. The seller notes the convertible top hydraulic cylinders were replaced in 2019 and the master window switch was replaced in 2021.
A naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine provides an output of up to 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller states the IMS bearing and rear main seal were replaced in 2016 and the CARFAX report shows a history of maintenance including an oil service in September 2022.

@Bruno911 what about the 13 hours of labor and the notes about warranty repairs? That leads me to believe the IMS bearing was replaced. Maybe I’m missing something?

@artichoke it looks like they simply removed the oil seal from the original IMS bearing. There's no way they could have replaced the IMS without splitting the engine ($10K + job). The service invite is misleading since they reference an "updated IMS bearing" but if you look at labor performed, they just removed the seal to allow engine oil to slosh into the bearing.

@artichoke Evidently there was an oil leak. RMS and shop recommended doing the IMS while the trans was out. this was 2 owners ago. Current owner bough this on BAT in April of 2022. there is a thread about this on there as well. Will upload the receipts momentarily.
IMS bearing replacement is very rare on a 997, especially one with so little mileage. Any info on what happened? Was there a failure? Also, replacing the IMS bearing on a 997 is much more complex than on a 996. Was this done by Porsche under warranty?
