Anyone who is living in FEAR of the fairy tale stories of the IMS need to grow up and move along. There is no statistical proof of any failures that is worth NOT buying a car you want. Can you afford it? Then buy it and drive it.
@G50Targa. Sir you are incorrect. You need to look at the engine numbers to see which bearings they have. 2006 already has the bigger bearing. This bearing is non serviceable unless you split the cases. This particular car could have two concerns, being a convertible and the possibility of bore scoring. However this is 3.6 engine which is less likely to

@tomneedles @tomneedles, The 997.1 is subject to the IMS failure. Problem was not completely addressed until the 997.2.

I am not a bidder on this fine 997 because I bought my own 2006 997 cab a few years ago on this site, but I want to emphasize what's already been noted -- this model year does NOT have the IMS bearing concern.

I dont think this car would classify as an IMS issue car. The only 997s that would are the early ones with the M96 motor. They switched to the M97 sometime around 05/06 with a thicker baring (not a dual row) that eliminated the issue. I have an 07 997 C4 with the M97 and have no worries about it. You can check underneath the block somewhere by the oil pan and the numbers will indicate either M96 or M97

Sometimes maintenance is performed due to age rather than miles when cars have low miles like this one.
I don't have anything mentioning IMS being replaced. Car was always serviced at San Diego Porsche if for some reason it showed signs of issues etc. this would have been addressed. Brakes were done there as well. They have less than 1000 miles on them.
Beautiful 997. Do you know why the 60k service was performed at 15k miles? It does not appear the IMS bearing has been addressed, is that correct? Who performed the brake replacement recently? The brake and rotor replacement is not on the Carfax. Thank you!

Car drives smooth and straight on the highway.
Seller any concerns about driving this car, 1500 miles to Texas if I’m the winner. I got my 03 turbo in June drive from California to Katy Texas 1698 miles no issues at all a blast. Now premium gas it’s even cheaper, I paid $7.49 a gallon filling up for 91 octane in Cali, and yes the route is interstate 10, awesome drive.

I have never even seen the check engine light or a drop of oil on my floor from it.
Only issue I ever encountered was the top moving slowly. The hydraulics were rebuilt and zero issues since.
Clutch engages correctly. Car shifts into all gears smoothly. Torque comes on as it should.
Engine idles without a blip.
No creaks or squeaks from the suspension.
Beautiful color! Are there any mechanical or cosmetic items you’d suggest the next owner address near term?
