Up for auction is this 2006 Porsche 997 Carrera 4S Coupe finished in Black.  At an original sticker price over $98k, this range-topping Carrera model came with a rare Cocoa Special Leather interior, an optional leather Sport Steering wheel, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and Sport Chrono Package Plus.  Having spent life in California up until 2021, this 6-speed C4S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey showing approximately 68k miles on the odometer.

This Coupe comes finished in Black and rides on a set of matching 19” HRE FF01 wheels with one-year-old Pirelli P Zero tires.  The car was originally ordered in Arctic Silver Metallic per the factory specifications list. New clear side marker lenses have been installed and the original amber units are said to accompany the sale along with a set of three original 19” Carrera S wheels (2 rear, 1 front).  CARFAX shows minor damage to have occurred in July of 2021 shortly before the car was deemed a total loss vehicle by the insurance company.  The seller states that the previous owner hit a curb on the driver’s side, damaged the front wheel, and drove on a flat tire. As the tire heated up, it was shredded and damaged the ABS sensor, harness, and vent hose. A salvage title was subsequently issued by the state of California before repairs were completed by the seller.  The car is currently offered with a reconstructed/rebuilt title from New Jersey.

The Cocoa Special Leather interior is accented by aluminum-look trim and features optional heated power seats along with a leather Sport Steering wheel, Cocoa floor mats, and the Bose High-End Sound Package.  Other features include automatic climate control and Porsche Communication Management (PCM).  A previous owner installed a Bluetooth interface kit and the seller replaced the original climate control switches with new OEM pieces. The driver’s seatbelt is said to retract slowly and some signs of wear are present throughout.

The 3.8L flat-six engine produces up to 355 HP and drives all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.  Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is reached in approximately 4.5 seconds with a top speed of nearly 180 MPH.  Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) comes standard and works in conjunction with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus.  An upgraded silicone intake pipe was fitted by a previous owner and the original piece will accompany the sale. The seller states all scheduled services were addressed per the manufacturer's recommended intervals, and CARFAX shows a history of maintenance through Porsche dealers and service stations in California.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, and a rebuilt/reconstructed title.

@Mrosilio I agree. They are WAY off. They're also sitting more right than they should and even appear angled inward. A hanger could be bent or in need of replacement or it was backed into something at some point.

  • airlu823 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@MarkTodo The value of 997.1 6-spd manual coupes with decent miles kept moving up and I hope the next owner will not keep in the garage and enjoy the car. I kept my reserve reasonable as clean title ones can get real expensive, especially there are less and less C4S coupes available for sale. Thanks.

  • MarkTodo (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

I am looking for a driver, This will never be collectible because of the title and the color change. I hope that the reserve isn’t too high it won’t even track Hagerties low value

  • airlu823 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Mrosilio Full transparency, there is ZERO slip in all gears. I have limited previous service records available and only has the ones from the work I have done. Thanks.

  • Mrosilio (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

@airlu823 No problem. Full transparency though, is there any slipping in certain gears or in general? Any service records available from any of the work done in the last few years?

  • airlu823 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Mrosilio I have not noticed that the drive side tailpipe dangles or install incorrectly. Maybe it could be the angle that I took the pic or video? As for the gear shift video, I do not have one and not going to be able to take one before the auction ends as I am away at work and the car is sleeping in the garage. Sorry about that.

Also looks like the driver side tail pipes are either dangling or installed incorrectly? Was this ever addressed?

  • Mrosilio (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Sorry for chiming in late, but can't believe no one has requested it yet - Can we get a driving video showing you shift through all gears?

    Thanks!

@TB I have a family member who is in law enforcement.

  • TB (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

What is the gold police badge in the front window drivers side about?

  • airlu823 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Koolbilly123 I am going with black as that’s how I purchased it. As far as I know, there is no issue with the IMS.

  • Koolbilly123 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Hi Seller so was this car originally blk or silver? And doers this model year needs the IMS bearing updates?
    Thank u

@airlu823 Interesting. Possible... Some paint meter readings around the car may be able to determine/confirm your suspicion.

  • airlu823 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Blubusdrvr I didn't even realize that the car was silver until I ran VIN Analytics for a copy of the window sticker and specs. I also looked over the car and did not see any trace of being silver. I heard that there was a possibly that the window sticker can be misprinted. I like the black with cocoa color combo anyway.

  • Blubusdrvr (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

"Minor" damage that results in a total loss and the car emerges as a different color?? Something is amiss here.
Possibly done as a favor to the owner so as not to have a car with major repairs? Weird.

    Hi All,
I will ask PCM to add a quick video of the cold start showing the tail pipes.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Any chance of a cold start video and Dme?? Like bob barker, I’m a price is right kind of guy. Traditional purist Porsche guys are not even going to bid on this car.

  • airlu823 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@155MPH The car was black when I got it. There was NO respray or paint on my part. It could’ve been done by the previous owner.

  • 155MPH (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

So, was this car resprayed Black after it was totaled? Why? It was shipped from the factory Arctic Silver Metalic over Cocoa, which is a pleasing combo. Any insight on why the respray in Black?

  • airlu823 (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

The car is licensed/registered in NJ. I just use the TX plate in the pictures as I was told not to use my real plate for security purpose. There is no issue to drive the car cross country. No known issue whatsoever.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

I have a few questions about the car?? On the photos I see a Texas license plate, where is the car currently licensed or registered at? I see you are up north, any pending issues why the car couldn’t be driven cross country? Could you post a cold start video showing the tail pipes? I maybe interested in the car, I’m looking for one to drive not to flip or to sit in a garage. I live in Texas so here we can register a car with a rebuilt tittle. Thanks
