Up next at auction is this 2006 Porsche 987 Boxster S presented in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Stone Grey standard leather interior. This example was originally delivered to Porsche of Oklahoma City, and was enjoyed by the original owner until early 2019, when it was traded in to another dealership and acquired by the current owner in May of 2019. At an original window sticker of just under $67k, this Boxster S was optioned with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, 19” Carrera S wheels, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), heated front seats, a Bose sound system, and Porsche Communication Management 2.1 (PCM). Now showing just 17,400 miles on the odometer, this 987 is now being offered at auction by the seller based out of Minnesota.

The vehicle is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic (92U) with a black convertible soft top and has benefitted from the application of paint protection film on the front half of the hood and fenders, headlights, mirror caps, and front bumper, as well as a professional paint correction. The seller reports this Boxster to have remained in a climate-controlled garage since new, and notes a scratch on the underbody near the jacking point and two small chips to the wheels, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Exterior equipment includes optional bi-xenon headlights, foglights, clear side markers, red brake calipers, rear quarter panel vents, a speed-controlled rear spoiler, and a dual-tipped central exhaust outlet. The optional 19” Carrera S wheels wear colored Porsche center caps and are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires with around 3k miles traveled since new, showing date codes from 2020.

The cabin features heated and power-adjustable seats in Stone Grey leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include a Bose sound system, a wind deflector, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a PCM 2.1 infotainment system. The seller reports some minor wear near the drivers door latch pull and on the center console near the hand brake. All instrumentation and accessories are said to operate as new, and no warning lights are illuminated on the dash.

The mid-mounted 3.2L flat-six produces 280 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque, sending power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle. The Boxster S can accelerate from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds with a claimed top speed of 167 MPH. Performance features include the Porsche Active Suspension Management system, which equips electronic active dampening control, front and rear stabilizer bars, variable-ratio power steering, 4-piston monobloc brakes, and the Sport Chrono Package Plus, which equips a stopwatch dial on the dashboard, a Sport Mode throttle map, and provides lap memory function to the PCM. The seller reports annual oil services under their ownership, as well as new front brake rotors in 2019 and new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in 2020.

This sale will include 2 sets of keys, owner’s manuals, original window sticker, a car cover, and some service documentation.

@Ufaruqm3 Thanks. Sorry for misunderstanding. Beautiful car in all respects.

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@xraydelta1 Here is a website that describes the process in detail: https://www.washos.com/blog/clay-bar/

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@xraydelta1 "Paint Correction" means cleaning the top clear coat of the paint with a clay bar to remove any imperfections from the factory or crud picked up over the years. Its a term used by detailers and any good detail shop will do this as a first step to even out the paint finish. I get this process done to every used car I have bought to restore the paint to factory specs. There was NO paint applied to any panel of this car. Its all original factory paint.

  • xraydelta1 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Could you clarify the "paint correction" indication in the description? To what extent was this done - just a fender or bumper or which area(s)?

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

More content posted as promised. Good Luck!

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@xraydelta1 The PCM 2.1 does not have Satellite Radio capability AFAIK. I have seen people adding Mobridge's BT/iPod unit and then adding Satellite Radio capability through it.

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@Ufaruqm3 Looks like PCarMarket has not released the new content I uploaded but you will likely see more videos and the picture I was referring to tomorrow morning.

  • xraydelta1 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Does the car have satellite radio capability built in?

@blee49 Sorry but I don't have that number. I don't think it will be easy for me to get that number while its sitting on the garage floor.

  • blee49 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

I know I'm being a pain in the ass.. But do you know offhand the engine number stamped on the side of the oil sump could you possibly take a photo of it? sorry, just doing my home work.

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@louispereznyc Uploaded, should show up soon. These are pretty close up pictures and you have to be pretty finicky to pick up the wear. Also, pretty well known to be an area where wear shows on these interiors.

Hi again, could please take a photo of the build date sticker on the driver's side door, and the options sticker under the front trunk.

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@blee49 I don't have those records. You can reach out to Porsche Oklahoma City. Their number is listed in the CarFax shown in the pictures of this listing. I highly doubt that the issues you are bringing up can occur for a Porsche within the first 8K miles of its service. The car has no coolant leaks, tank explosions, or motor mount issues at this point. It drives like a new car pretty much. I sure hope Porsche doesn't build cars that have those issues at this low mileage. I understand your concerns but rest assured the car is not exhibiting any such issues. Those issues generally occur at much higher mileage levels like 60K+.

Any chance you have the maintenance records from the original owner ? water pumps, coolant tank leaks, and motor mounts are frequent trouble items. don't mean picky just checking.

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@louispereznyc All photos except a few exterior ones (showing signs of spring/summer) are less than a couple of weeks old. There is documentation of oil changes, and front rotor replacement and that is all I have done in terms of repairs. Please see all my comments for more details but to answer your question, the car has never been driven in winter, or through a car wash, or when there is salt on the roads. See under body photos for how clean the car is. There has been no need of any rust prevention except what was put on by the factory. Thanks and good luck bidding.

  • louispereznyc (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Good day. I am interested in bidding on your fabulous example. A few questions - are the photos present-day/very recent? Do you have the most recent maintenance/service documentation? Coming from snowy/cold-weather climates, has there been any rust prevention/repair performed on the car? Thank you.

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@blee49 Hi Blee49. I would be worried if the car did not get routine oil changes. What I have understood is that IMS bearing sitting in old oil for long periods of time is what kills it. Also lugging the engine is not good for it. I have done routine oil changes as mentioned before, taken all precautions, and inspected magnetic drain plug and oil filter element personally at all oil changes. I let the engine warm up for the first 10 minutes by driving it while keeping under 3K rpm. Once warmed up the goal is to never let the rpms drop below 2500 in any gear. I do not over rev but generally upshift between 3.5 and 4K rpm point. I have never had any engine trouble, code, or oil consumption issues. The last part is hard to judge since I have changed oil roughly every 2500 miles.

  • blee49 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Being a low milage car have you ever been concerned about the IMS bearing or bore scoring issues with that year?

@robmsales Hi @robmsales. Thank you for your comments, it has been well cared for sure. I do not have a loan on the car; it was paid off in 2020. I hold a free and clear title with a lien release in my hand as well.

  • robmsales (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

    Hi Ufaruqm3
Wow - this Boxster S is excellent conduction and looks very well cared for before and after you received it. Is one question is there still a loan out on the Boxster?
If so, how are you going to handle that payoff?
    Thanks a lot, Rob

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

@TomBuddTX Yes, I do. Oil changes, and OEM Front Rotor Replacement are the service records I have. Car has not needed anything else in 3 years. I replaced the front rotors only because there was warpage from sitting around for so long and not being driven.

  • TomBuddTX (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

WOW! That car is in great condition, especially the underside considering MN for past few years. Do you have the Service Record from your Indie Shop?

  • Ufaruqm3 (seller) 2 yearsago

Some items that did not get mentioned in the listing:

    - In 3 years I have had a routine annual oil/filter maintenance service done by my indy mechanic. He allows me into the bay area, and I have personally cut open oil filter every time and inspected the stretched filter element under direct bright light for any signs of metal shavings. I have never found any.
    - As soon as I brought it home, I installed a magnetic drain plug (bought from Suncoast) and that drain plug also gets inspected for any debris every oil change.
    - I installed OEM trunk liners and clear corner turn signals (also bought from Suncoast) as shown in the pictures.
    - The car has never seen an automatic car wash. I hand wash and hand wax it (No orbitals allowed near it).
    - It has never been driven in snow, or in rain, and I usually wait till MN salt is washed off the roads before I take it out for the season.

    Enjoy bidding, and good luck!

Hello bidders, I welcome any questions that you have about the vehicle. I am the current owner and bought this car from an Oklahoma dealership in 2019 and drove it 8500 miles in 3 years. I will do my best to get your questions answered timely. It has been a perfect car for me and I am hoping to pass it on to the next lucky owner who will take care of it like I did. Thanks!
