This Cayman S comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and features upgraded 19” Carrera Sport wheels. Exclusive 5mm wheel spacers are equipped from the factory along with optional Bi-Xenon headlights.  Black side intake grilles and fog light covers have been installed in addition to a set of aftermarket Agency Power exhaust tips, custom lug covers, a removable upper windshield banner, clear side marker lenses, GT3 front brake cooling ducts, front grille screens, and OEM colored center caps.  The car had seen some track use under the care of its original owner at PCA autocross events as well as its current owner, a PCA HPDE National Instructor.  The finish is described to be in good condition overall with some paint chips on the front end as well as scrape marks on the underside.  Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black interior comes factory equipped with optional heated leather Sport Seats as well as a Sport steering wheel, Sport Shifter, an aluminum footrest, and Porsche crest-embossed headrests.  A removable camera mount is fitted to the rear luggage bar and an OEM liner mat has been added to the front trunk.  A red 12 o'clock marking is also present on the steering wheel. Another service was completed at 80k miles including replacement of the water pump, thermostat, air/oil separator, and air filter.  New catalytic converters have also been recently fitted and the car has been treated to routine oil services at 5k miles intervals.

So what happened to the last comment? Pcar is pulling comments? What's up?
That was a disappointing auction for an excellent drivers car.

@troywebb What you are asking, has the engine been rebuilt? No it hasn’t and there are no indicators that it needs to be done.
There are recommendations that will minimize any issues with these engines which I recommend any owner follow.
    1. Don’t let the car idle when warming up, just start and drive.
    2. Don’t use full throttle or high rpms until the engine is up to operating temps.
    3. When driving, try to keep the rpms above 3000.
    4. Drive the car often. The IMS seals (as will everything else) will dry out which can lead to a low mileage engine failure.
    5. Use good oil and change it often. I use the max that Porsche recommends, Mobil 1 5/50 and change it every 5000 miles.
    6. Upgrade the oil filter system. A LN Engineering system is installed.
    7. Use an additive high in Boron, Molybdenum, Calcium, Phosphorus and Ceramics to minimize engine friction and wear. I use Cera Tec from Liqui Moly.
    8. Use an Oil Analysis service to watch for any problem indicators. While an increase in metal contaminates is important, any fuel in the oil indicates failing injectors (a high cause of Cyc Boring issues) which can be quickly resolved. I use Blackstone Labs for this.
Bottom Line; this is a well optioned car that is great to drive, allows a good driver to frustrate the 911 crowd in the twisties (how does your stock Cayman stay with my GT3?) and when properly maintained has a low operating cost.
    Hope this answered your question.

The engine in the 2006 Cayman S is the M97 vs the M96 used in the first generation Boxster and the 996. The M97 has a improved IMS bearing and to replace it you need to split the case. The incidence of failure is substantially lower.

I am very familiar with this car. The owner is very thorough about the maintenance. He looked long and hard to find the car with the proper parts selection to make the perfect drivers car. If something needed repair it was done ASAP. He is really hating having to sell his baby, but a move out of state has made it a necessity. I have driven it and it is a tight great handling toy.
    I have a 2010 Cayman S as a reference.

@croc, never driven a CarreraGT, the ultimate but understand they are quite the handful. Flashback to the 930 widow makers of old….lol

@dmac64 Between working in Porsche Sales (dealership) and being a Nat PCA Instructor I have had the pleasure of driving everything Porsche has offered over the late 20 years (even the Carrera GT). While some were faster and others more comfortable none hit the sweet spot quite like the Cayman. Randy Probst said it best when he described the Cayman S as the best drivers car he had ever been in.

@Quackbury Never did a bore score, it was planned for when I put on a FVD oil pan. Since there were no indications of any problems: no noises, oil consumption within factory limits and good oil analysis there was no rush which was confirmed at a Porsche West Tech Session when I consulted with the guys from Speed Diag, LN Engineering and Pedro Bonilla from PCA Tech.

Great build and great details. One thing that hasn't been asked (or if it has I missed it) is bore scoring. Has the motor been bore scoped and if so can you share the details? Thanks.

Have a 07’ 987s same color/mileage and had to chime in. Have had air cooled 911s, 996/986 etc over the years and the one I’ve kept is the Cayman. Am a PCar enthusiast through and through and the 987 is the best handling most fun car I’ve had. Puts a smile on my face every time I take it out. These are well balanced fantastic cars IMO. As a PCA member I recommend this one highly, for what it’s worth. GLWTA!

@rustynail58 Everything is working as designed. Known problem areas; Water pump, AOS, Cats, etc, have already been replaced. My go to tech always does a DME report whenever he sees the car. Not only does it list out the Over Rev Report it tells us what all the electronic systems in the car is doing. Besides the usual inspections for any telltale leaks, noises or abnormal functionality, the electronic printout was invaluable in keeping ahead of any problems. Plus we always did an oil analysis with every oil change.

@Sdynamite The Clutch is original as are the Shift Cables. I don't do jack rabbit starts, burnouts or slam the gears so I expect this drive train to last a long time.

    My favorite cars!
Since your the 3rd owner, have you discovered any potential problem areas on this Cayman?
A/C and other mechanisms in proper working condition?
Has the car had any track time that you know of?
Thanks for your time...looks right up my alley!

Im in love with this car! sorry if i missed it, but does it still have original clutch and shift cables?

Take what many consider to be one of the best driving cars ever made and enhance it with a handful of the factory go fast options. What you get is an unbelievably comfortable driver that is wickedly fast in the curves.

Porsche Bellevue equipped this Cayman S like a GTS, years before the factory started doing it, which makes this 987 and it’s set of options very rare. Having the complete owner history (all PCA members) and a strong and clean Carfax only adds to the value.

A couple of items not mentioned in the write up: the unique and rather appropriate personalized plates stay with the car. The reason there are photos of the vehicle with both the Black and Silver Fog Light Covers and Side Grills is that all the parts are Porsche OEM pieces that are snap-in making it easy to change the look of the car.

I have been the caretaker of this unique Cayman for four years. It has that special problem that Rob Dickerson of Singer calls the worst kind, a vehicle that is unique and complete, a vehicle he won’t mess with. And I feel the same. If you want to know more about this fantastic driver, ask your questions. I might have more answers than you were expecting.

    The Seller.
