Presented for auction is this well preserved 2006 Porsche Cayman S with only 12k miles traveled since new.  Meticulously maintained, this Artic Silver Metallic example boasts an array of factory options as well as an upgraded Tubi exhaust system.  The 6-Speed manual transmission and 295 HP engine provide an exhilarating driving experience when balanced against its lean 2965lb curb weight.  This 987 is a turn-key ready example that was well-cared for and properly maintained. Accompanied by a clean Carfax report and a complete collection of service records, this 987 is now being offered by its seller out of Arizona.

The Arctic Silver Metallic paint is noted to be in exceptional condition by the seller with only extremely faint signs of wear present (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  Factory details include 19” Sport wheels and optional Bi-Xenon headlamps. Standard equipment on the 2006 Cayman S also includes power/heated side-view mirrors and a speed-activated rear spoiler.

The black leather interior is stated to be in excellent condition and the seller notes that aftermarket aluminum pedals have been added.  The cockpit features heated seats, the optional Sport steering wheel and Bose Surround Sound system. Lloyd’s interior mats have been added to protect the carpeted flooring (original mats will be included with the sale). Premium 18% Suntek Carbon XP window tint has also been professionally installed to protect the interior finishes and keep the cockpit cool. The seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be in proper working order.

This Cayman S carries a 3.4 L 295 horsepower flat-six mid-mounted engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.  Capable of a 4.8 second 0-60 time while weighing under 3000 lbs, the 987 Cayman S has been acclaimed as one of the best handling Porsche road cars ever.  This lightly driven example is stated to be in excellent condition with routine oil changes and maintenance records to back it up.  As per the seller, the car has never been tracked and has no drivetrain modifications from factory other than a Tubi exhaust system valued at over $1,900

Accompanied with the sale, the winning bidder will receive 2 keys, clear title and clean Carfax.  The original owner’s manual and carpeted floor mats will also be included with the sale along with the original window sticker, an engine scan tool and a car cover. An exceptionally well-preserved example of a 2006 Cayman S is hard to come by, this 12k-mile 987 is sure to satisfy any Porsche enthusiast.

@countryclubfl Great car, but with shipping, registering, etc. would've been over $40k. Close to '06 911 money at that point. Was fun being with y'all though. Good luck!

I bought a 2006 cayman s a little over a year ago. Dynamite car. I have the same wheels and they really set it off.

Whoever picks this up will have a blast!

@wadds1971 You are very thorough! To my knowledge there are zero issues with the car! It has never smoked upon start up that I am aware of. The car has been meticulously cared for, and I appreciate all your research.

For the record, I just had a brief online "chat" with Flat Six Innovations, and they told me that they have never come across an early Cayman S that had anything other than the final, larger, more durable M97-type IMS bearing in it. This would include some cars equipped with M96 blocks as well. So, it seems this car should have the more durable bearing in it. Good news!

As to the possibility of bore-scoring, that issue runs across the M96 and M97 run of engines, apparently. I guess one way of detecting this problem would be the appearance of a certain "ticking" sound in the engine, and possibly some exhaust smoke puffing out of one of the tailpipes on start-up. Can the owner confirm that neither of these conditions has been observed on this car? Thanks.

@wadds1971 You are correct. It has the original front tires and the backs were replaced about 5 years ago. As for the IMS issue, I have read about it, but haven't had any issues and would imagine that it might be an issue if the car was tracked or raced ( high RPM's for extended periods of time), but I can only speculate. Thanks

Pretty car, and super low miles, too. But, some say the ultra-low mile cars may have experienced IMS bearing failure more often, due to lack of oil circulation over time. Any history of oil analysis performed with oil changes? Also, with an M96 engine, I assume this means the smaller, a less durable, IMS bearing is installed? The "good news" is that may mean it can be upgraded relatively easily, albeit at a cost of $2500, or more, I've read. Comments on this from the owner would be welcome. Also, are the tires original to the car? Date code on one looks to be 2006, over 14 years old. Thanks!
