Now up for auction is this 2007 Porsche 997 Turbo Coupe finished in GT Silver Metallic.  Featuring a twin-turbocharged Mezger engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this 997 Turbo also came optioned with a limited-slip differential, the Sport Chrono Package, and a Grey Natural Leather interior with Sport Seats, painted trim, silver seatbelts, and other Exclusive details.  It has also been upgraded with a high-performance Maxflo sports exhaust and air intake system along with quad Fabspeed exhaust tips.  Purchased by the current owner in June of 2015 with less than 1k miles driven since, this 997 Turbo is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey while showing just over 16k miles on the odometer.

This 997 comes finished in GT Silver Metallic and features Turbo-specific front and rear bumpers as well as wide fenders with rear side air intakes.  The seller notes that the finish has been preserved with clear paint protective film applied over the hood, front bumper, mirror housings, and rear fenders.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This 997 retains its factory 19” Turbo wheels that are currently dressed in older Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires.

Inside, this Turbo has been appointed with a premium Grey Natural Leather interior featuring a GT Silver Metallic painted rear center console, instrument surround, belt outlet trims, air vent slats, and PCM package.  Other details include Exclusive silver seatbelts, door finishers in leather, an aluminum footrest, a thicker leather steering wheel, Sport Shifter, Sport Seats, and aluminum inlays for the gear knob and handbrake lever.  An image of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity is provided in the gallery listing an original MSRP of over $138k. CARFAX shows a potential odometer rollback, although this is believed to have been a clerical error and the seller's mechanic has scanned the vehicle's computer to authenticate the mileage.

This first-generation 997 Turbo is equipped with a race-derived 3.6L flat-six Mezger engine with twin Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) turbochargers, producing an output of up to 480 HP and 460 lb.-ft of torque stock.  All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission providing for a 0-60 time of approximately 3.5 seconds and a top speed over 190 MPH.  An optional limited-slip differential is equipped along with the Sport Chrono Package which allows the Turbo to overboost for ten seconds to achieve an increase in peak torque over a certain RPM range.  This example has also been upgraded with a high-performance Maxflo sports exhaust and air intake system at a cost of over $18k for increased performance and sound.  The seller reports that the car has only ever required standard routine maintenance throughout their ownership with the most recent service performed by The Popular Mechanic including an oil and filter change, battery replacement, and a new hydraulic pressure accumulator for the clutch. A corresponding invoice and DME report are provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, some invoices, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title. With its low mileage, 6-speed manual gearbox, and tasteful specifications, this 2007 example is a perfect choice for any driver in search of a 997 Turbo.

@xqzme78228 agree what goes up must come down. I guess we are still waiting for that to happen in the model 993. Oh wait it hasn’t.

  • xqzme78228 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Market going to have to correct at some point.

  • groach (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Would have done much better if seller had cleaned up the CarFax (which is a pain but the owner during the time period of the mistake can do) and provided some info on the Tune mentioned only in a receipt. Congrats buyer if reserve was met.

The 997 Turbo, the last 911 Turbo:
    1. With a manual
    2. With a Mezger
    3. With hydraulic steering
    4. That’s not too big!

@TXGreyhound Absolutely. That’s why I brought the car in to have it inspected prior to placing it up for auction. I wanted to make sure everything checked out.

Hello, the bottom of the popular mechanic receipt states “the vehicle is overdue for an inspection”…. Are you willing to complete a PPI if the winning bidder requests before completion of sale? Of course this would be at the winning bidders cost. A PPI with “popular mechanic” seems reasonable.

@ElCubano Thanks for the helpful information and thanks for the nice comment! Agreed it’s a beautiful car!

  • ElCubano (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Bluetooth came about in the 2009’s 997.1 models (which is the last 997.1 model).

This Car in particular PCM comes with a slot for introducing a Cell Phone Card (Chip) in order to get a Line. So means that if you want cell phone you need a separate cell phone line. Chip Card. Which I don't even know if they still do, cell companies I mean. I’ve never try it or done it in mine.

There is nothing at all wrong with this, because this is part of the beauty and mystique. OEM came as that. This is a Solid Solid Beautiful car. Which I know Market to be at $130-$150K already. So Good Luck to all

To those who are interested I just posted the paint meter readings. I intentionally posted one reading on the hood which was done directly over the PPF. (12.75)

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Brentaussprung I appreciate your concern, however, I am confident there has not been any rollback.

  • Brentaussprung 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Jimmychristy the DME reports merely confirms the number of operating hours, not actual mileage. Popular Mechanic gave one very subjective opinion that “523 operating hours roughly equates to 18,000 miles based on an average 35 mph assumption.”

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Laymay Thanks for your bid. As I have stated earlier, the new Carfax seems to have clerical errors which were not present when I purchased the car in 2015. It seems strange that these erroneous mileage inputs would occur several years later. It makes no sense.
I therefore had a full DME report done which confirms the present mileage as accurate.

@Brentaussprung maybe you have a higher opinion of workers than I do. I can’t help but think lazy / worthless. Maybe I’m just naive.

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Brentaussprung Again, service dated 5/21/2010 was present on the carfax report I received when I bought my car in 2015, but no mileage was listed. It's interesting how several years later an aberrant milage shows up. I'm not sure what to make of it. All the other reports/mileages match exactly to my carfax report when I purchased the car. I do still have that report in my files.

  • Brentaussprung 2 years, 8 monthsago

What's concerning to me is that Mount Vernon can't be the only clerical error. Hoffman Porsche records a mileage of 7,804 on November 30, 2009, which is also greater than 7,528 miles recorded on the Odometer rollback date of May 21, 2010. I could understand if a run-of-the-mill mechanic shop recorded an error, but how does a reputable Porsche dealership also record a negative discrepancy of 300 miles within a 6-month period? Can you explain @Jimmychristy.

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@MurderMammoth unfortunately I don’t have a paint meter but will get one and post hopefully by Tuesday. Thanks again for your input!

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Jimmychristy @Jimmychristy, thank you for your response and clarification. I would definitely send the DME to CarFax to cleanse their report. Many relation that information as to whether or not to purchase as well as value of a vehicle. However, I’ve seen crazier misinformation on CarFax. Thus the disclaimer in the fine print. They are open to reversals with proper documentation.

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@artichoke Yes, the mileage is accurate. As I stated in the previous response, the clerical error showed up several years after I purchased the car with a clean Carfax. Also, the DME report supports this fully and clarifies the fact that the mileage is indeed correct. Thanks.

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@MurderMammoth Thanks for your comment. When I bought the car in 2015, I received the Carfax report, which did not indicate this mileage discrepancy. The report in the new Carfax dated 4/16/2010 at 10,593 miles from New Vernon Coach & Motor Works was not present in the previous Carfax (this was a big surprise to me!). Because of this, I felt that it was obvious that this input was a clerical error.

In an effort to clear this discrepancy, I had my mechanic do a DME report, which confirms that in fact, the mileage on the car is accurate.

  • artichoke (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Is the mileage accurate???

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Hi Jim,
Have you contacted CarFax in an attempt to remedy the “odometer rollback”? If you or they can locate where the error came about, I’m sure it would help your auction to have that stigma cleansed. Lastly, please post the paint meter readings when you have a moment. Thank you.

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@groach Great thanks for pointing that out

  • groach (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Thanks Jim. That invoice also indicates that it’s had a tune (flash high output). Pcar needs to add that to the listing description.

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

The information I have is in the listing photo section on the receipt from XX Tunnung dated 10/7/07.

  • groach (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Beautiful car. The listing states the exhaust and air intake cost $18k?? That doesn’t sound possible. Seller can you elaborate on that? Thanks

  • Jimmychristy (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hello everyone! My name is Jim and I’d like to welcome you to my auction. If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out at any time. I am available to assist you to the best of my ability.
