Up for auction is this 2007 Porsche 997.1 Carrera 4S Cabriolet finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black standard leather interior. Offering a distinctly tactile driving experience, the 997 generation has become very well regarded amongst the Porsche community. Previously sold on PCARMARKET in 2019, this 2007 6-speed example has since undergone a custom full engine rebuild and 4.0 L conversion at a cost of over $22k. Equipped with desirable factory options including Sport Chrono Package Plus and the Bose High-End Sound Package, this unique 4.0 L Carrera 4S Cabriolet is ready to be enjoyed with approximately 62k showing miles on the odometer.
The Arctic Silver Metallic finish is stated to be in great condition with minimal signs of wear, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. As an all-wheel drive model, this 4S is equipped with widened fenders which house optional 19” Carrera Sport wheels. New Michelin Pilot Sport tires have been mounted within the last 2k miles and the seller notes that a new hard top will also be included in-sale along with a cover and stand.
This 4S features a black standard leather interior which is said to be in excellent shape with all gauges and accessories working properly. Commanding an original sticker price of over $108k, this Cabriolet has been configured with the following factory options:

In September of 2019 at 51k miles, this 997 was sent to Vertex Auto for a complete custom engine rebuild. During this time, the displacement was increased from 3.8 L to 4.0 L and the engine was outfitted with new internals, mounts and a deep sump oil pan. Claimed to offer an increase of 30 HP over its stock 3.8 L configuration, this 4S sends an estimated 385 HP to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. A 12k mile warranty was included with the engine rebuild and approximately 10k miles have been added since that time. This 997 is said to be up to date on all due service.
The sale of this outstanding Carrera 4S will include a set of two keys, owner’s books, service records and a new hard top. With its naturally aspirated 4.0 L power and tasteful factory configuration, this 4S offers an incredible value.

@ez1973 Thanks for the question.
Nothing more than an oil filter not fully snugged up. I take amsoil and my own filter to the corner valvoline. It was seeping at the filter and took 3/4 turn on the filter to snug it up. Apparently the Porsche mechanic carrying out the PPI couldn't raise his arm over his head to snug it up himself.
No oil leaks on this car! It is currently sitting raised on a 2 post lift , below which my Panamera is parked.
Can you elaborate on the oil leaks found in the inspection report?

@JPD thanks for the clarification it makes more sense now. I've heard of them, they had a really nice silver 996 listed on here couple mths ago they redid the motor on. They seem to do very competent work. GLWTA!

FACT: I am a PCA member involved in HPDE in MI. I built and drive a supercharged 928 S4 dedicated track car. My wife and I own multiple Pcars.
I bought this 911 on PCAR with a known serious engine knock . The engine knock was obvuous and clearly disclosed by the seller at the time of the auction in an "engine running " video. Knock, knock, knock.... I surmised that the knock was a conn rod bearing. I bid on this car with a plan to have a ground up engine rebuild completed. Not some tear down, and piecemeal repair job. My plan was for this to be used as my daily driver. No compromises. I wanted a zero time engine
After the auction purchase I shipped the 911 directly from the PCAR seller in NY to Miami for Vertex to work their magic. Conn rod bearings are a known weakness of this vintage 3.8, just.one of many issues. I am a person that does things right, either myself if capable or I pay to have done right.
My key criteria for this engine build was reliability, performance, longevity. The cost to achieve my objectives was important but less so. In my opinion Vertex is one of a few shops that do the 3.8 rebuilds right. One improvement that the Vertex rebuild remedies is that their conn rod.and main bearings are 15% wider than the OEM counterparts.
Specifically regarding your comment of $22k for 30 additional HP ......
Rather than spend $18k on the improved Vertex 3.8 producing the same HP as stock albeit with all the known issues addressed for reliability and longevity, spending another $3k got the 911 a 4.0 liter with 30 more HP and more lower end grunt to.enhance performance.
Spending an additional $3k was good value and it set up for a solid footing to build on in the future should one be so inclined . Adding another 50+ HP with an aftermarket exhaust and ECU tune could be future.considerations. A naturally aspirated 4.0 flat six with performance that would creep into Turbo HP territory.
Spend $22k to gain 30 HP(less than 10% increase) then unloading in 9 mths. Huh. Am not even sure how to comment on this one...but anxious to hear this story unravel from the sidelines

I believe it is the original soft top. Nothing indicates to me that it is otherwise. I can ask the original owner if you wish? Top is in great condition. No tears or rips.
Regarding your question as to why? Stick presents one item too many for my use as my daily driver. Thought I'd try it out. I gave it a good chance with ample opportunity to see if I could adjust. Simply it didn't work out for me. I spend alot of my days on the road in sales fielding many calls. Just too many balls to juggle. I bought a Panamera. It's better suited to my needs. Do I miss the 911, yep. Do I miss the cab, yep.
This is an awesome car. Fully sorted. Needs nothing. Great performance with the 4.0 liter. Tight. 997.1.5
