Originally engineered for military use, the AM General Humvee (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, or HMMWV) is renowned for its rugged off-road capabilities and adaptability. Powered by a 6.5-liter V8 engine paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission with a transfer case and locking differentials, this 2008 example is finished in tan over a tan and black interior. It features portal axles, an independent double A-arm suspension, a soft top and doors with zip-up windows, an air intake snorkel, a pintle hitch, a heating and ventilation system, and more. This Humvee is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
The Humvee boasts a boxy, utilitarian design with a flat roof, aggressive military styling, large fender flares, and around 16” of ground clearance for navigating rugged landscapes. This example is refinished in tan and features a color-coordinated soft top and doors with zip-up windows, an air intake snorkel, a pintle hitch, and D-ring hold-down and lift anchors. It rides on two-piece steel wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. The seller notes damage to the front quarter panels and minor scrapes throughout the body. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features replacement front and rear bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl, complemented by body-color doors and a matching center console. The black-finished dashboard is equipped with gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The seller reports the installation of new flooring and a bed liner, along with added fans, lights, and Bluetooth-compatible speakers. Additionally, the speedometer and odometer are currently non-functional.
Power comes from a 6.5-liter V8 engine, which delivers a factory-rated 190 HP and 385 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission with a transfer case. Recent maintenance includes an oil change and new glow plugs. The seller notes that the idler arm and front left hub bearing show signs of wear, while the front steering box and a fitting on the side of the gas tank are leaking. Additionally, the left rear hub shows signs of leakage, the right rear tie rod is damaged, and the right rear hub may benefit from a rebuild.
This sale will include a clean title.
