Up for auction is this 2008 Jaguar XKR convertible finished in Pearl Grey Metallic over a black leather interior. Representing the second and final generation of Jaguar's XK grand touring car, the internally designated X150 chassis was designed by Ian Cullum with advanced aluminum construction and a 4.2L Eaton-supercharged V8 engine producing 420 HP. This one-owner Southern California example was optioned with the Luxury Package, Premium Sound Package, 20” Senta-style 10-spoke alloy wheels, and more. Showing approximately 39k miles on the odometer, this one-owner XKR is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Nevada.

This XKR is finished in Pearl Grey Metallic with a newly installed black convertible soft top. The XKR was built on a bonded and riveted aluminum monocoque chassis and weighs approximately 200 lbs. less than the previous XK generation. Some distinctive features of the XKR include model-specific front and rear bumpers, rocker extensions, a mesh front grille inspired by the Jaguar E-Type, quad exhaust tips, and hood vents for improved engine cooling. The seller reports the car to have been garage kept, and a small scratch is noted on the top of the hood as well as a minor scuff on the lower left side of the front bumper. Detailed photos are available in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This XKR rides on optional 20” Senta-style 10-spoke alloy wheels, which are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact tires showing date codes from 2017.

The interior of this XKR is upholstered in soft grain black leather complemented by decorative high-gloss burlwood trim throughout the dashboard and center console. The optionally selected Luxury Package equips heated front soft grain Luxury Sport Seats with perforated leather inserts and 16-way power adjustability, a soft grain leather dashboard and instrument panel fascia, a leather gear selector knob, and a heated leather multi-function steering wheel. The optional Premium Sound Package features a 525-watt Alpine 5.1 surround sound system with 8 speakers, a subwoofer, and a Dolby Logic II amplifier.  Other driver amenities include adaptive front lighting, rear park control, and a 7-inch color touchscreen infotainment system with navigation.

Under the hood, the XKR features a 4.2L supercharged V8 which was factory rated at 420 HP and 413 lb.-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a 6-speed ZF automatic transmission with Jaguar Sequential Shift and allows the XKR to reach 60 MPH from a standstill in approximately 5 seconds with an electronically governed top speed of 155 MPH. Compared with the standard XK, the XKR also received upgraded springs and dampers and utilizes Jaguar’s eCATS two-stage dampening system that automatically adjusts the shock absorber settings to maintain optimal balance. The XKR comes equipped with the Bosch Servotronic 2 power-assisted speed-sensitive variable rack and pinion system to improve steering feel and make the XKR easier to maneuver at any speed. The seller notes that a recent service was completed including fluid changes and an inspection. The CARFAX report shows a consistent history of maintenance including regular service at Jaguar of South Bay and replacement of the rear driveshaft by Jaguar/Land Rover Cerritos.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owners manuals, a set of wheel locks, and a clean title.  This well-maintained one-owner XKR presents an excellent opportunity to get behind the wheel a sporty and luxurious grand tourer, do not miss out.

The little things matter. Should have ponied up for fresh rubber. Windshield looked like it had a lot of small stone chips (for 39k miles). Really liked this one.

Given the market and scarcity of low mileage XKRs of this vintage, the bidding, unfortunately, was on the low side. Given the replacement of the top $$$ and the one owner, this car was worth more. $26.5K

@Carguy48 the glass window started to sag and separate from the fabric, so we replaced the entire top.

Can you elaborate on what necessitated the top replacement at 39k miles?

Why would you replace a Michelin with a Conti that doesn’t match the other three?

  • essencemotors (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@QMSRI Hi @QMSRI Yes, it’s wearing one Continental in the left rear. The rest are Michelin. All 4 show 6/32”.

  • essencemotors (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    @ashcrestcollection Hi @ashcrestcollection
The CarFax shows 2 owners because the original owner purchased it upon completion of the lease - this happens often! The Autocheck shows an accurate one-owner, as they are part of Experian and follow the person.

All electronics and buttons are fully functional, and no sticky buttons.

No known paint work. Paint meter is showing between 6 and 10. Lmk if you'd like to see photos of the paint meter.

Carfax looks like 2-owner; description says 1. Are all electronics (buttons) fully operational? Any sticky buttons?

Also, any known paint work? Has it been metered?

    Thanks

  • QMSRI (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago
