It is our pleasure to offer this 2008 Porsche 997 Carrera S Coupe finished in Ruby Red Metallic over a black full leather interior.  In addition to its sought-after 6-speed manual transmission and 3.8 L flat-six engine, this 2008 example comes factory equipped with leather Sport Seats, an exclusive rear center console in leather, and Porsche crested headrests.  Highlighting a clean two-owner history on CARFAX, this 997 has spent its entire life on the West Coast and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Oregon with approximately 25k miles showing on the odometer.

This Carrera S is finished in the uncommon shade of Ruby Red Metallic.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX.  Clear side marker lenses have been installed and factory 19” Carrera S wheels are equipped along with optional colored Porsche center crests.

Inside, this 997 showcases a very nicely presented black full leather interior with optional leather Sport Seats, a rear center console in leather, and Porsche crested headrests.  Other factory options include self-dimming mirrors and a rear window wiper.  A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the sale along with the original window sticker which totals over $91k. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

This first-generation 997 Carrera S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.8 L flat-six engine that sends 355 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox.  With this drivetrain, the sprint from 0-60 MPH is achieved in as little as 4.6 seconds while reaching a top speed of over 180 MPH. All available maintenance history is provided on CARFAX and the seller reports that routine fluid and filter changes have been addressed throughout the lifetime of the vehicle.

This sale will include a clean title.  The 997 generation is among the most desirable modern Porsches, and this low-mileage Carrera S 6-speed is one of the most well-presented examples you are likely to come across.

@BarryLe There is no paint protection film on the car. Photos of paint meter will be going live here shortly. All original paint measuring between 3-4 mils.

GPMotors: In the pictures, I am not seeing the normal paint chipping one might see on the front end of the car. I am wondering if there any clear protective film on the front of the car. Please advise.

Lovely looking example. By chance, would you have any photos with paint meter readings, underside shots, and the DME report? Much appreciated.

    Thanks.

I know it is a matter of preference, but on this one I would miss not having the Sport Chronograph package with the accompanying Sport button. Otherwise a perfect example.

  • wadds1971 (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

@cormican - Thanks very much for your detailed followup. I'm encouraged to hear that the sport seats in this car might default in favor of the more "relaxed" position, and not the heavily-bolstered position. Fortunately, I'm well short of the 300 lb. mark, but I do find that many so-called "sport seats" are designed for narrower, and smaller, drivers than me. For example, I've found the more sporting "Vader" seats on my '95 M3 to be fine on a shorter trip, but pretty confining on a longer one. I'm also no longer a "spring chicken" at age 74, so there's that.

Regardless, I would agree with you that this car looks really appealing. I would probably pick that Sand Beige interior that you mentioned, but it's hard to be at all critical of this one. I suppose the only part I will object to is the final sale price! This one's going to go high in the end, I'm quite sure.

  • cormican (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

@wadds1971 You are correct. I should have looked at the photos more closely. You can tell they are the normal sport seats since they have the manual lever on the side, instead of the electronic buttons. They have a bit more bolstering than the comfort seats, however, they are not adjustable. I have found these seats to be comfortable as well. To me, the bolstering in the sport seats feels like sport adaptive seats with the bolstering all the way open. So, comfortable for bigger dudes. This is all depending on how big a guy is obviously. If you’re a 300lb dude, you probably won’t find anything about a 911 or cayman comfortable. I hope I have given a little bit of confidence booster that you would like the car. I think it’s a great one. It’s one of the best ones spec’d they way I like them, that I’ve seen for sale in a long time. Ruby red is actually my favorite color. I actually flew to PHX from SAT to pick one up, but got burnt by a bad dealer (bad representation of the car) so went home empty handed. Ended up with a seal grey.

Just from my observation, most ruby cars have sand beige interior, so it’s cool to see one in black. It also appears to be in VERY good condition.

    GREAT CAR - PERIOD!

  • wadds1971 (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

Just to clarify, and as a followup to the comment posted by @cormican, the seats in this 997 are the "sport seats", and not the "adaptive sport seats" that have the adjustable side bolsters, correct? Maybe @gpmotors can confirm this just to be sure? Thanks.

  • cormican (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

@wadds1971 The sport adaptive seats are THE seats to have. I have had the pleasure of experiencing various seats in different 997’s, and these are my favorite (my 997 has them). I’ve seen a lot of guys on all the 911 forums rant a rave about them as well.

As far as comfort goes, I wouldn’t say they are anymore or any less comfortable on the bum. However, I do feel they are more comfortable during spirited driving since you have the ability to dial in the bolsters. My dad is a bigger guy 6’1”/~240, and he thinks the seats in my car are great. Hope this helps.

FYI, this car also (like mine) has the rear center console in leather - even more rare of an option than the paint code...

I have the last 997.2 created.
It to is Ruby Red with the sports seats
very comfortable. It is the last true
911 made before Porsche passed the
sports car baton on to the cayman gt-4

Would anyone care to comment on the comfort of these sport seats to those of the standard seats for a taller, larger driver? That's about my only hesitation in bidding on this car, as it looks beautiful to me. Ruby Red is a great competitor to Carmona Red, IMO.

@gpmotors Agreed, great color and the car shows well. You're in my old stomping grounds, maybe a trip back home wouldn't be so bad....

  • gpmotors (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@TXGerman The car has been removed from sights to be listed here. The car is in amazing shape with 0 flaws. This ruby red color is very rare to see as well. It's becoming incredibly hard to find these 997 manuals with low miles and in good condition. We both know where the market is going for these rare analog porsche's.

Beautiful car seller. There’s not much maintenance mentioned except in the Carfax. So what other service has been done to your 997.1. I don’t really care if the car is on sale on other sites. My experience with selling cars on forums like Pcarmarket is that all other listing need to be removed.
Again I don’t care about that. The only thing I need to see to bid on this car is a cold start up and engine running video. These M97 engines need to be heard running. Not an IMS issue that anyone can fix without major engine surgery. The only real question for me is there any knocking when the engine is running.

  • captgiddyup (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

@TXGerman Does this make the Seller a bad person or diminish the Quality of this gorgeous 911S? Sure beats looking at the countless Off Brand Beaters found on PCAR

  • SVOMustang (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

So the Seller has no intent to actually sell this at auction. It’s purely a marketing stunt and a waste of everyone’s time. It is clearly listed for sale at grandprimotors.com. I’m sure if someone walks in the door and offers them their price this car is gone. Great.

  • SVOMustang (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

That seems counterintuitive to running an “auction” on it and actively marketing it for sale elsewhere. Is PCAR aware of this?

  • SVOMustang (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

This is currently for sale elsewhere?

  • SVOMustang 3 years, 1 monthago

It seems strange that this is actively being marketed through the dealers website and other 3rd party web sites, oh yeah and asking price is $59,900. Beautiful car though....
