Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black leather interior, this 2008 Porsche 987 Cayman S pairs a desirable 6-speed manual transmission to its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. This example has undergone a host of tasteful modifications at a cost exceeding $40k including a TPC Racing Stage 3 Turbo Kit, a TPC Racing Stage 3 Suspension Kit, a center radiator kit, racing spark plugs, an X51 clutch & flywheel, a GT3 shifter, a GT limited-slip differential, a GT3-style front bumper, a carbon fiber, wing, and much more. Acquired by the seller from a professional racing coach and owner of Atlanta Speedwerks, this 987 has been cared for by Porsche specialists and is consistently garage-stored. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia showing less than 45k miles on the odometer.

This example is presented in Arctic Silver Metallic and rides on a set of black-finished staggered-width 18” lightweight aftermarket wheels with widths measuring 8.5” at the front and 10” at the rear. The wheels feature extended racing studs and lugs, and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 245/40/18 front tires & 275/40/18 rear tires have been mounted. Additionally, a Composite Concepts GT3 front spoiler is fitted along with a GT3-style front bumper and a Composite Concepts GT4 rear spoiler. The seller notes window tint has been applied to the sides and rear, and some minor paint touch-ups have been performed. Minor imperfections include a slight difference between the bumperettes on the front bumper, some hazing in the driver’s side headlight, and a chip in the center of the rear spoiler. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin sports Black standard leather upholstery and is optioned with the Preferred Package Plus which adds the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, self-dimming mirrors and rain sensor, Bose High-End Sound Package, heated front seats, floor mats, and the Power Seat Package. Modifications include LED interior lighting, a GReddy boost gauge, and a red kill switch mounted in the center console bin that instantly turns off Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and traction control. The seller notes the Porsche lettering on the floor mats is slightly peeling, minor blemishes are present in the plastic around the keyhole, and the cup holder assembly has one holder that fails to stay closed. The airbag warning light is said to appear occasionally, although all other gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

Power is provided by a 3.4-liter flat-six engine, driving the rear wheels through the original 6-speed manual transmission. Mechanical modifications include the following:

  • TPC Cayman S Stage-3 Turbo kit, 6-speed
  • Center Radiator kit
  • Racing spark plugs
  • Track pack oil recovery system
  • X51 clutch & flywheel
  • Racing Synthetic Motor oil
  • Racing Synthetic Gear oil
  • TPC Stage-3 Plus Suspension Package
  • GT3 Shifter
  • GT limited-slip differential
  • Custom-tuned by TPC

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, and an air pump.

This car is an extremely fast and well-built Porsche Cayman S. I have truly never seen another Cayman like this. A Cayman like this is very hard to come by. This car will serve its next owner well whether it is track time or a street weapon.”

@Peteweiss Yes I have no problem providing either of those. The closest shop and the only shop i trust is Atlantaspeedwerks which is a 2-hour haul for me and miles on the car. As far as the JRZ RS1, the original paperwork/receipts for the work don't line item the stage 3 suspension parts however I do believe they are there. I can also have that checked at ATL Speedwerks.

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

    Hi!
Quite interested, but some continued quesitons:

    1) Now that not time pressure of the auction, can a DME readout be provided and can it be evaluated for bore scoring?
For $40 this is a lot of car...but not if will cost another $10K+ for engine rebuild.

    2) Is this the full suspension kit (including the JRZs)?
"Our TPC Racing Stage 3 Plus Suspension has proven itself to be the best suspension setup when it comes to street and track driving. This is especially true for cars to be able to keep the PASM function. Now we are offering our Stage 3 Plus Suspension which includes TPC Racing Pro Race Sway Bars, TPC Racing Pro Race Drop Links, Pro Race Adjustable Toe Links and JRZ Camber Plates available with the JRZ RS1 shocks! The JRZ RS1 is a great single adjustable shock that offers a fantastic ride on the street, but also an amazing handling car on track."

    Thanks!

@Peteweiss As far as legality it is perfectly compliant with all laws. I don't have to pass emissions here in Carroll County so I am unsure about an emissions test. It was registered in Gainesville GA when my racing coach owned it. I think it is comfortable enough. I have driven 2 hours to Road Atlanta from my home with zero complaints.

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

How is street compliance for daily driving. Comparison for me is 996 GT3, so not needing super comfortable- but reasonable for taking my wife to dinner as well as track days…

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@Peteweiss I don't believe it would be over 98 decibels. It is quieter than a factory gt3 911

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@lcaofq151va15df14 once the weather clears up here in Georgia i will get these videos!

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

So you know how loud it is? Sound meter at local track is 98dB I believe

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

Hi! Would be interested in discussing further. Would it be appropriate to ask to call?

  • lcaofq151va15df14 (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

Passenger recording while driving and outside drive by would be ideal. I got caught in a meeting and missed the action!

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@lcaofq151va15df14 I wont have time before auction end to get one. However what sort are you looking for? me holding the phone while driving? I was thinking a passenger recording maybe? Or a video of it driving by?

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@flat6club That is the only track in North America I am still extremely eager to race at. I have been as far as texas's Circuit of the Americas. Long haul from Georgia!

@flat6club I race in SCCA in a Spec Miata! Every little horsepower counts

  • flat6club (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@kylehaney11 what sort of racecar do you have?

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@188chris I do not want to sound ignorant, however, i have never heard of or had any such thing done to any of my vehicles to my knowledge. However, i have always had Atlantaspeedwerks care for my racecar and this car and they may have.

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@flat6club I would hate to kill the tires i have kept such good care of!!

  • flat6club (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

Or.. instead of a DME / bore scope report, I would accept a short video of the car doing epic burnouts 🏎️☁️

@kylehaney11 - can you tell me what exhaust is on your cayman? The tips are not original and the original exhaust is very restrictive, so I assume it has been upgraded. Thanks!

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@Alkemi993 Yes all is fine and no codes.

  • Alkemi993 (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

Sweet build! Aside from intermittent Airbag light any other mechanical issue worth noting? Assuming no RMS leaks, bores are fine?

    Thanks

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@lcaofq151va15df14 Cold start and Dyno video posted. When I have time again this week I will phone a friend to come ride and record while I drive.

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 2 weeksago

@zerothunder11 The front bumper is aftermarket therefore it has been color matched. The rest of the car is original, with no accidents and no bodywork.

  • lcaofq151va15df14 (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

Any chance of a driving video?

  • zerothunder11 (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

Has any paint or body work be done? Any chance of getting photos of a paint meter on the body panels?

  • Porschehoff (registered bidder) 2 months, 2 weeksago

Can you post photos of the undercarriage and suspension please?

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@garyjlittle The list of mods on here is what is in the car. The Engine is the number-matching engine that came with the car from the factory. As far as the internals they are stock. It is tuned around 6lbs of boost all cooling, oil and piping have been upgraded accordingly per TPC Racing to run and drive with no problem.

  • garyjlittle (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

Have the engine internals been beefed up to handle the extra power? I thought I saw a comment at one point that said that the engine had not been replaced, but that the engine internals were upgraded. I cannot see any such comment now.

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@cons I do not have the dyno sheets personally. I have a video of it on a dyno from a charity event I attended. it made 401 to the wheels at Z1 Motorsports. Suppose you do the 15% method that is 467 at the engine. I live in Georgia so it currently runs on 93 octane. With the Greddy controller, you can adjust accordingly to 91 octane if needed.

  • PCARMARKET_MODERATOR 2 months, 3 weeksago

@slwags10 The listing has been updated, thank you.

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@slwags10 Thank you and yes i apologize for the errors in the listing.

  • slwags10 (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@kylehaney11 The listing still stating "replacement engine". Its been a full day since PCar should have been notified. Thank you for the response, now PCar needs to step up and get this edited... Great mods to this car. I'll be watching!

  • groach (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

Seems like @pcarmarket needs to hire a new editor. Unless the red 911 shown in this car’s auction photos is included in the sale?

  • cons (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

Are there dyno sheets available, or do you have approximate hp/ torque numbers? Is this tuned for a specific octane or can the ecu adjust for areas with 91 octane?

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@flat6club super cool Porsche! Just not mine

  • flat6club (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

Seems @pcarmarket mixed your listed up with at least the 750HP red impact bumper 911. That’s what the other pics are from I believe.

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@kylehaney11 I just now read the listing. I have no idea why the listing says “replacement engine”

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@flat6club that switch is to cut PSM and traction control.

  • flat6club 2 months, 3 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $987

  • flat6club (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

What’s the red switch next to the GReddy?

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@slwags10 I have no idea why there is another Porsche on the listing. That being said I have never tracked the car and the owner before me has never tracked the car. I don’t personally know the owner before my racing coach however the guy who owned it before my coach had race cars which in my opinion would render it pointless to track the car. That being said I can’t give an honest answer. I have my own race car and nothing is worth driving on a track over a purpose built race car. Secondly as far as I know it is the engine that came with it. What makes you think it isn’t original? I could be missing something

  • kylehaney11 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@TransaxleJoe I don’t have any pictures personally however my Racing coach and previous owner may have pictures. I’ll check!

  • TransaxleJoe (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

Hi! I want to see those Stage 3 suspension bits please? Under carriage pictures would be perfect. Thank you. Glws.

  • slwags10 (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

Photos 87-98 are of a different Porsche
I'll start with the obvious ask. Where was the replacement motor sourced from? What was/is the engine mileage? Was anything done at the time of replacement to freshen up the implant? I'm guessing that this car has plenty of track time. Any rev reports would be helpful to all parties on this sporty Croc.
    Thanks
