DT: 8k-Mile 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster

It is our pleasure to present this 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster finished in special Pure White paint over a “Silver Arrow” Tobacco Brown leather interior.  In collaboration with their Formula 1 racing partner McLaren, Mercedes set out to create an advanced grand-touring supercar that pays homage to the original 300 SLR race car of 1955.  Powered by a hand-built supercharged 5.5 L V8 engine that sends well over 600 HP to the rear wheels, the SLR features active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a lightweight carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) construction.  Reported by the seller to be one of only two examples in this particular color combination, 1 of 520 Roadsters, and #1924/2157 SLRs produced in total, this rare Mercedes-Benz shows just over 8k miles on the odometer and is now being listed for auction by its seller out of Florida.

The special Pure White paint is described to be in excellent original condition, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX.  The styling is inspired by the original 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé and features advanced aerodynamics including an active rear spoiler/airbrake, a streamlined underbody panel, and a rear diffuser.  Some other distinctive features include side-exit exhaust, butterfly doors, silver calipers for the 19" Cross-Drilled Brake System, and signature 19” Turbine wheels.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in exclusive “Silver Arrow” Tobacco Brown leather with optional black carbon fiber trim and SLR-logo embossed headrests.  From the factory, this SLR also features an optional XX-Large driver's seat, an X-large passenger seat, and standard amenities including a Bose Surround Sound System, dual-zone automatic climate control, and auto-dimming mirrors. All features and accessories are said to be fully functional including the power-operated convertible soft top. An image of the original $516,240 specification sheet is posted in the photo gallery.

Specific to this model is the M155 SLR 5.5L V8 engine featuring all-aluminum construction, a twin-screw supercharger, and dual intercoolers.  Located toward the middle of the car one meter behind the front bumper, this hand-built engine offers excellent weight distribution and an output of up to 617 HP and 575 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by way of an AMG Speedshift R 5-speed automatic gearbox with three manual shift modes, allowing this Roadster to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in as little as 3.6 seconds while reaching a top speed of over 200 MPH.  Stopping power is handled by the optional 19" Cross-Drilled Brake System which includes carbon-ceramic rotors and Sensotronic Brake Control.  All routine maintenance is reportedly up to date with a recent service carried out at a cost of over $7k including a new battery and alternator.

This sale will include one master key and a clean title.  Easily one of the most significant supercars of the modern era, this striking SLR McLaren Roadster makes a great investment as well as a perfect complement to any world-class car collection.

@5020love i know you're being sarcastic but you're quite ignorant on the matter. You know on BAT maybe 2-3 weeks back a 1 of 62 red BMW Z8 with 27k miles sold for $245k?

Look how many countless Z8's with less miles sold for way less than that. Why did it get so high? Bc of the color. So like most people on the internet you speak just to speak, but anyone who really knew about the scarcity of specific cars would understand just how rare a white SLR roadster is and what its value is has no relevance to the value of a silver or black SLR roadster.

Thanks for straightening me out - lesson learned - hope you enjoy your car

  • dantheman4 2 weeks, 2 daysago

@5020love no offense but you have no idea WTF you're talking about

    1. To the kind of people who own a car at this price point, nothing is expensive including maintenance.

    2. The color does make a difference, I could never pull the trigger on a silver or black one bc there are countless ones available. Countless in terms of the handful that came to the US but at any point you can find a black or silver one without fail. Good luck finding another white one. I couldn't even negotiate $1 off a steep ask on the one I just purchased, but a calculated guess told me I likely wouldn't find another white one with under 2500 miles.

    3. The color does matter. Why you ask? Take something a Ferrari F40 almost every last one you see for sale is red. Do you ever see a black one pop up? A white one? Do you realize that in a world where money is no object people will pay top dollar to stand out from an already small crowd with a rare color. Ya at the time I bought might I could have bought a black one with with red seats and 6k miles for $272k on ebay, but I happily paid almost $80k more for the rarer one. As someone with a fairly large collection, having the rarer vehicle was more important than saving money.

4.How is $250k the right price when others have bid well above that here? I guess in your mind $250k is the right price but the market disagrees with you, it is what it is. No sense in pontificating what you feel the correct value is bc something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

8k miles is high miles on a 12 year old car? Yet we see 300sl's going for over $1m with 100k miles? Got it.

@5020love let me know if you find 09 with 8k miles for 250k. I will buy another one Thanks

  • 5020love (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 2 daysago

Regardless of the color, this is a lot of miles for this car - these are expensive to own and service techs are rare even in big cities - 250,000 is the right money for this car

Someone just pointed me in the direction of this listing so I made an account. As the owner of what I think is maybe 1 of a handful white SLR roadsters in the US I'd like to say few things.

    1. I see the comment about the spark plugs. So mine is a 2009 and has 2300 miles. I purchased it somewhat recently, there is 1 service advisor and 1 SLR tech at my dealer, its a big dealer. I met with them and had the same concerns. They said to stop reading the internet and the car did not need them. The door shocks, the dealer just replaced mine when I purchased it bc the doors weren't hanging up but to be honest, its actually easier to close the doors if you don't fix the struts. What I mean is if the struts are bad, the door hangs lower and when you're inside its easier to grab them, once fixed, the door flies to the top and you gotta reach all the way up to get the handle.

    2. The SLR roadster is way rarer than you think. Remember 2009 we were in the middle of the great depression of the modern era and $500k+ cars weren't really in demand. I've seen numbers online of 2000+ SLR that may be coupes or something I don't know but only 71 of these roadsters came to the US in 2009, I spoke to mercedes classic center who put me in touch with a mercedes customer care rep who got me the figures. This particular car previously was for sale Curated in miami and they said it was the only white roadster in the US in this color combo. That's probably true, mine is white with light brown seats but its a $15,000 custom white pearl option while this one doesn't have that on the sticker. Manny Khoshbin also has a white one with red seats but I believe that is a basic arctic white from looking at it and I don't believe it was a custom color like mine, maybe, but don't believe so. Mine was built right before this looking at VIN, wonder if they made all the white ones together.

    3. Looking at my sticker, This car has pretty much all options offered at the time except for the custom colored top which was $3,000 and the custom paint.

    4. I saw someone mention it, yes there is a mesh car cover that originally came with the car.

Considering how rare a white SLR roadster is I would say this is likely the best one you're going to find anytime soon. I wasn't even planning on buying one, was at the dealer ordering another car and it was sitting on the showroom floor as a recent trade, I couldn't even believe it bc I had been looking at SLR roadsters in the years before and all were silver or black and then there's that odd colored beige one thats been on ebay forever, but the white one is such an attention grabber. I immediately bought it, didn't even think twice. At cars and coffee its the star of the show every single time. You definitely wont go wrong owning it.

@5020love thanks for the paint answer - did you see the question about the backup camera and does it have expel on the front end - how about scrapes under the front bumper

  • RosnerMotorsports (seller) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

@5020love can not put a paint meter on the car, body panels are lightweight carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) construction , paint meter will not read. Car has no Paint work. Thank You

  • 5020love (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

Can you put a paint meter around the car to see if there has been any touchups - I had one of these and mine did not have a back up camera so accidentally bumping into something while parking was a potential problem - as 8,000 miles is a lot of miles for a car like this
And I noticed a screen where the radio is - was an after market camera added ?

    Very cool & special automobile
Just a suggestion... I’ve seen a few auctions of late with only 1 key, and I realize it’s my opinion but I think providing only 1 master key seems like a real shortcoming/“miss”.

Suggest spending the $$$’s and purchasing another key, since I assume any serious bidders at what I assume will be a crazy (expensive) price point for this super exotic would want 2 keys

Seems like it’d be time & money well spent.
