The fifth generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, the R230, was introduced in 2001 and received a major facelift in 2008 along with the introduction of the SL 63 AMG, equipped with a hand-built 6.2L V8 producing over 500 HP. This 2011 example was ordered in Magnetite Black Metallic over a Black/Anthracite leather interior and was optioned with a panoramic glass roof, the AMG Performance Package (P30), Parktronic sensors, the AMG Exterior Carbon Package, and more. It was originally delivered to Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills, California, before spending time in New York, Florida, and Rhode Island. Showing approximately 13k miles on the odometer, this SL 63 AMG is now being offered at auction by the seller out of Rhode Island.
The exterior is finished in Magnetite Black Metallic with a matching retractable hardtop. Details include an AMG–specific front fascia, side skirts, an optional panoramic glass roof panel, silver fender vents, bi-xenon headlights with active corner illumination, fog lights, a vented hood, silver brake calipers with black AMG script, and quad exhaust tips. The optional AMG Exterior Carbon Package provides carbon fiber mirror caps, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, and a carbon fiber decklid spoiler. The seller reports paint protection film has been applied to the front end, and the full exterior has been treated with ceramic coating. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The split-spoke 19” AMG wheels are mounted with Pirelli P-Zero tires from 2017.
The interior is trimmed in Black/Anthracite leather with 12-way multi-contour front seats including heating, ventilation, AMG badges in the backrests, and the Airscarf neck warming system. AMG carbon fiber trim spans the dashboard, center console and door panels while Designo Anthracite Alcantara lines the roof. Amenities include an AMG Performance multifunction steering wheel, drilled aluminum pedals, AMG floormats, full power accessories, dual-zone climate control, Keyless Go keyless entry, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, a COMAND infotainment screen with navigation, and heated windshield washers.
The SL 63 AMG is equipped with a 6.2L naturally-aspirated M156 V8 rated at 518 HP and 465 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed 7G-Tronic dual-clutch transmission and electronic limited-slip differential, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in around 4 seconds with a top speed of 186 MPH enabled by the AMG Performance Package. This package also equips a sport-tuned Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system. The CARFAX report shows a history of dealership maintenance, with the last entry including the replacement of the air filters, an oil change, and braking system flush by Mercedes-Benz of Warwick in April of 2019.
