Now available at auction is this 2012 BMW E92 M3 finished in Jet Black over a Black Novillo leather interior. Representing the fourth generation of BMWs high-performance 3-Series, the E92 was the first and only M3 to be equipped with a V8 engine. This example was delivered new to Illinois, before being sold to the second owner in Wisconsin, where it remained before subsequently winding up in Arizona, and then New York, with the current owner. It was factory optioned with the Premium Package, Cold Weather Package, the Individual Audio System, and a glass moonroof. It has been modified with H&R lowering springs, Future Classic wheel spacers, a modified stock muffler, and LED bulbs in the headlights and interior. Said to have been regularly maintained with a well-documented service history, this M3 is now being offered at auction by the seller out of New York showing 80,750 miles on the odometer.

Ordered in Jet Black (668) the exterior is said to remain in very good condition, having been regularly hand-washed,  and the seller reports some swirling in the paint. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The M3 can be distinguished from a standard 3-Series by its high-gloss Shadowline trim, fender vents with integrated LED turn signals, revised bumpers and side skirts, an aluminum power dome hood, quad exhaust tips, and a rear decklid spoiler. The headlight corona rings and daytime running lights have been fitted with LED bulbs. The optional 18” Style 260 wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in the front, and Hankook Ventus in the rear, which are said to show about 80% tread wear remaining.

The driver-oriented cabin features heated and power-adjustable sport seats upholstered in Black Novillo leather with matching door panels and Dark Carbon Structure leather trim. Amenities include a leather-wrapped three-spoke M-Sport multifunction steering wheel, an Anthracite headliner, M3 aluminum door sills, a sliding glass sunroof, a power rear sunshade, Comfort Access keyless entry, rear Park Distance Control sensors, Enhanced Premium Sound System, and BMW iDrive infotainment with navigation. All interior lighting has been replaced with LED bulbs, including the trunk.

The E92 M3 is powered by a naturally aspirated high-compression S65 4.0L V8 engine that generates up to 414 HP at 8,300 RPM. The rear wheels are driven through a 7-speed M Twin-Clutch automatic transmission, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in as little as 4.8 seconds with an electronically governed top speed of 155 MPH.  Other performance features include the M-Drive System, Dynamic Stability Control, M Dynamic Mode, and a variable M limited-slip differential. The seller reports this M3 to have been dealership maintained until the end of the original 50k warranty and afterward serviced by a specialty BMW shop, with corroborating receipts until 72k. Modifications include H&R lowering springs, Future Classic wheel spacers (15mm front and 12mm rear), and a modified stock exhaust system with welded perforated internal pipes providing a more aggressive tone.

This sale will include 2 sets of keys, owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, and service documentation.

I am a bit late to the party to bid with confidence. The car looks very nice. Am I missing something on this vehicle?

@_Mbition Isn't the line supposed to be "they only drove it to church on Sundays"? Pretty cool grandparents! I bet the family has some very special memories of that car.

  • _Mbition (seller) 2 yearsago

@Quackbury also, I've never done a full detail on the car! Just regular hand washes!
Car has spent most of its life in a garage before me, I know it may be hard to believe but as you see it now is the “roughest” it’s probably ever been through, being here in NY.
It’s just beautifully taken care of, it’s why I bought it in the first place.
These wheels are by far my favorite wheels on the car also. They’re way more comfortable than my previous Competition package M3 ever was.

@Quackbury thanks so much for the compliments!
I knew the questions would come up about them, the preventative rod bearing and throttle actuator replacements have not been done yet on it.
The previous owners before me were an older couple in their upper 70’s.
I’m willing to bet they didn’t drive the vehicle roughly at all, and actually from what I was told, it was a highway car between their residences in Wisconsin and Arizona.
My assumption is I didn’t have to worry about them till later, as will the next owner of the vehicle.
    Hope this helps!

Love it. That insanely high revving V8 makes beautiful music (mine was an E93 Vert and driving with the top down brought multiple eargasms). Looking forward to hearing what she sounds like with the modified exhaust. I'm normally not a fan of the 18" wheels, but with the lowered suspension and the spacers they look terrific on this car (plus your detailer did a terrific job on them).

Information on the rod bearings and throttle bodies would be appreciated. The question is bound to come up sooner or later, so might as well get it out of the way. GLWA!
