Launched in 2011, the Porsche Cayman R was released as the track-oriented high-performance version of the 987 Cayman, with a claimed weight savings of 121 lbs over the standard model using lightweight materials and a bump in power over the standard Cayman. Built as a track car under prior ownership, this particular example was maintained by Deman Racing of Blauvelt, New York, for the CEO of JP Morgan, Jamie Dimon. It has received a 3.8L flat-six crate engine, carbon fiber body panels, semi-stripped race interior with Sparco Pro seats, FPA fire suppression, an AIM data acquisition system, and a full roll cage as well as Tarett suspension components, a Moton 2-way coilover kit, a Fabspeed headers-back exhaust system, PFC floating rotors, Forgeline 3-piece wheels with Pirelli slicks, and more. Claimed to have around 40 hours of track time on the build, this generously upgraded Cayman R is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Connecticut on a bill of sale (not registered for street use).

The Black (741) exterior has been extensively modified with a full carbon fiber front clip including the bumper, fenders, headlight covers, air intakes, hood, mirrors, and doors. Equipment includes a large fixed Clubsport wing with aluminum uprights, a single wiper conversion, AeroCatch hood latches, an external transmission cooler, front and rear tow hooks, a front splitter, silver side vents, and a center-exit exhaust. The 18” lightweight 3-piece Forgeline wheels are mounted with Pirelli racing tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cockpit has been readied for motorsport with a pair of Sparco Pro racing seats and Schroth harnesses, a full welded roll cage, a Rothsport steering wheel disconnect, an AIM data acquisition system, a Motorola radio with driver to passenger communication, and an FPA fire suppression system. The seller reports all modifications and original features are fully operational.

The original engine has been swapped out in favor of a naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six DFI Porsche crate engine claimed to produce up to 400 HP. Modifications include a Fabspeed headers-back exhaust system, Tarett mono toe links, Tarett engine and transmission mounts, PFC floating brake rotors front and rear, an external transmission cooler, and a Moton 2-way coilover system. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The serpentine belts are due for replacement, however, the seller states all other routine maintenance has been kept up to date.

This Cayman R is accompanied by some service documentation and a bill of sale.

@Mr_Persnickety No cats. I’ll pull the dme report in the morning. This car is truly amazing. You could not build this for less than 180k.

is there a DME report available - there should be. Also, I am assuming no catalytic converters.

@TRI_Ind as said before the car will be sold on a bill of sale

  • TrackArt (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Does the car come with any spares? Extra sets of wheels? Do you know what the dates are for the seat and harnesses? Thanks in advance.

  • TRI_Ind (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

The car fax shows the VIn as been registered when originally sold from the dealership. A title has been issued and should be part of the sale along with a bill of sale. This car was not produced as a race car and sold through the dealership parts dept by the Motorsport cars. There needs to be a title transferred to the buyer.

  • Ricster65 (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@Nemesis77 From my understanding it was always a race car. So short answer no.

  • Nemesis77 (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Was the car registered for street use at any point? If yes, which state it was and can it be transferred over to the new owner?

@RickDeMan Thanks for the clarification. I was told it was his and I’m sorry for that. But regardless it’s a fantastic build. And everything works on the vehicle. It’s one of the nicest builds I’ve ever come across and it’s like new condition. There is a meter that does show 40 hours and is correct. My belief was that this car took $185k to build so bid accordingly

Rick you build a great race car.

  • RickDeMan (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@BrainSrgn @BrainSrgn, the seller is certainly a stand up guy and seller here on Pcar, the previous owner has a similar name and is in the financial world as well. I'm not a liberty to name who was the owner.
But I can assure you there is no foul play going on here. This car is a one of a kind awesome track machine and worth twice what somebody here will end up paying.

    Cheers!

  • jsweet (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@Ricster65 Would you mind putting up a recent video of the car on the track and also a current video of it running along with showing all lights/electrical system is in working order.
    Thank you.

  • BrainSrgn (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@RickDeMan Thank you for the clarifications. Not sure why seller would make the JPM connection when there was none. Makes you wonder, what else is going on with the vehicle.

  • alessio (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

This front end has me wondering about a round headlight conversion on a 987! Could look very good, very interesting

  • Ricster65 (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@esconnell I would say without testing the hp on a dyno you are looking at 380hp. And without putting it on a scale 2600lbs. We could perform all that . But without going through it all that that’s what you are looking at.

  • esconnell (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Would love some idea of curb weight? Dyno numbers? Maybe some lap times? And why is seller letting this thing go?

  • PCarMartJM (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Any Idea on weight of this car?

Can you post photos of the inside of the doors.

Has the car had any damaged in the past?

  • RickDeMan (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

    Hi All,
Just an informational post here to clarify a few details.

This car was built by DeMan Motorsport in Blauvelt NY, it is one of our top of the line builds back in 2013 and is still an amazing machine!
It was NOT built for Jamie Dimon CEO of JP Morgan Chase, It was Never owned by Jamie Dimon.

It has been maintained most of its life by DeMan Motorsport and used mainly at Monticello Motor Club and the occasional trip to Sebring for a track outing. Never raced in competition.

I believe there is an Hour meter installed in the car and 40 hours looks to be correct. Very Very nice car!

Chromed Cage. Don't see many of those these days. Cool build.

  • driving_impaired 1 year, 11 monthsago

@Lc911sc doughtful? like cookie dough or more like a simple bread dough?

  • Ricster65 (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@dvdt Was used at Monticello from what we know. GTB3 class. It’s very lightly used.

  • Lc911sc (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Nice car, maintained by the right people. The JD inference is doughtful. Will bid regardless.

  • dvdt (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

What groups/orgs and classes did this compete in previously? Most interested in formal tech inspections that have been 'passed'. Thanks!

  • Crashmutt (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Shouldn't it still have a title? Bill of sale is cool but I would need the title in my state.

  • rossvesq 1 year, 11 monthsago

Oops, after looking at the photos it's now clear it's set up for a cool suit. Mounting plate, hoses, and fuse block are giveaways. Nice.

@rossvesq Well, okay. I won't bother asking for tire date codes then. I guess she could be sitting on cinder blocks. Who cares? Sweet build. GLWA!

  • rossvesq 1 year, 11 monthsago

@Digs - who cares? I'd buy this even if the harnesses were used dog leashes and the seats were wooden crates. Awesome build. Trying to picture Mr. Dimon in his no-doubt custom fire suit, belted in, screaming down the straight at WG on a Friday afternoon after helicoptering in from the Manhattan financial district. A cool suit set up would be nice, however, as black on black on black can get pretty nasty in the heat of summer. GLWA!

  • the_watson (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

The Jamie Dimon connection is interesting. Not that the car isn't! GLWA

  • PorscheGeek (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Amazing Build - Like a GT4RS but 10 years before they made a GT4RS - and with a manual to boot ~! ! And I love that a billionaire like Jamie Dimon had a Cayman R built for the track instead of just buying a GT3RS "off the rack"...very nicely done. Someone is going to get an phenomenal track car - good luck ~ !

  • Digs (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Please add pictures of the dates of both seats and harnesses. Thank you.
