The second-generation Porsche Cayman S features revised front and rear fascias as well as a direct-fuel injected flat-six engine. Finished in Black over a matching interior, this 2012 example comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Bose Surround Sound System, and 19" Carrera Classic wheels. Upgrades consist of a pair of Sparco carbon fiber bucket seats, an NHP exhaust system, and a clear engine cover. Having spent much of its life in California, this Cayman S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Oregon showing just over 34k miles on the odometer.
As part of the mid-cycle update, the 987.2 featured new headlights and LED taillights, larger front air intakes with incorporated daytime running lights, and a revised lower rear fascia with twin diffusers. This example comes finished in Black, and the seller reports that it remains in excellent overall condition. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX. Features include Bi-Xenon headlights with PDLS, headlight washers, rain sensors, and a set of premium 19” Carrera Classic wheels. The wheels are dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires bearing date codes from 2017.
The standard black leather cabin has been fitted with a pair of carbon fiber Sparco bucket seats and a clear engine cover. Amenities include the Convenience Package, automatic climate control, the Bose Surround Sound System, and auto-dimming mirrors. The seller reports that all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional.
This second-generation 987 Cayman S features a direct fuel injected 3.4-liter flat-six engine rated at 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission providing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in under 5 seconds. Upgrades include a short shifter and an NHP exhaust system, which gives the engine a slightly more aggressive tone. The CARFAX includes 22 service history entries dating back as far as 2011. The most recent service listed on CARFAX was performed in January of this year by BR Racing of Los Gatos, California.

Bottom line: there can be a difference between a car that is tracked and a car that is abused. A PPI can often discern the difference.

@RJ80 not only are 987.2 models extremely reliable, but cars taken the track are usually better maintained than the average car. Not only do those folks tend to be more knowledgeable about upkeep and cars in general, but technical inspections and up to date maintenance/repair are a requirement before getting on track. Most guys at the track go overboard caring for their vehicles, including myself. Can't complain though as people like you keep great cars cheaper for the rest of us!
@ap Was on the phone yesterday with the shop that reported on the incorrect mileage. They are supposed to get it fixed.

@RJ80 As stated before, this car was never tracked. The previous owner wanted a more performance orienty driving experience. Therefore did these mods to the car.

Car was asking $50k on GP's website before this listing, was publicized on Craigslist for several weeks. I'm in the market for a 987.2 but this one was clearly tracked with those mods.

@ptgltw mileage is correct to the photos of the car. These photos were taken about a week ago. The vehicle came on trade to us from California and the previous owner had it serviced before trading it. You can see on the driving video (filmed 4 days ago) that it has 34,xxx.
It looks like that shop in California reported late and the wrong mileage to the car. Will be reaching out to get that fixed on Monday.
Looks like pics were taken in the fall in Portland then driven another 3k miles to CA for service. Great catch on the miles. Wonder how it looks now?

Hi there is a discrepancy in the mileage reported, the Carfax states 37xxx w/ vehicle previous owner purchase date 2018. But the odometer currently reads 34xxx any additional information regarding that?

Just for those who may be unaware, anything within Range 1-3 is not very significant. Over-revs from Range 4-6 are significant, particularly 5 and 6. If you don't believe me consider that on newer Porsches they went down to Range 1-3 for the total amount of range and, you guessed it, they start where Range 4 used to. Even Porsche themselves don't care about the old Range 1-3 (on a level of 6). I'm only stating this because there is SO MUCH bad information about over-revs there. Seeing a Range 1, no matter how recently is happened, is an absolute nothing burger in terms of harm caused to the engine. Carry on!
That dealer needs to be told about the overrev. That's just aweful. They now DINGED your perfect report.
@GWhuffalo Without writting a whole essay about the engine cover, I would recommend you google some videos regarding the engine cover that this car has. This is the first time I have driven a cayman with the clear engine cover, and off the bat, you will notice more engine noise in the cabin (direct injectors firing, air intake, etc). For me, it sounds amazing and is a great upgrade. Whether or not it produces more heat, I do not know. I spent 15 mins in it when I drove it to make a driving video and I did not notice any heat coming from it, even with the climate controls off.
If seats are a big issue for you, stock ones are redily available used on renlist for $1-2k. You can sell these carbon fiber seats to recuperate that cost.
@drrmarquardt As I mentioned in a previous comment, the car has not been tracked. The previous owner put these seats in the car with intent of tracking the car but never ended up getting to it. He enjoyed this car as weekend canyon carver and bought a GT4 instead.
What do you know about track time that this car has had. Given the seat "upgrade" this vehicle has, I can only assume that it spent some time on the race track.
I second the questions by @wadds1971 about seats and engine cover. Im much smaller and live were I’m not worried about smog issues, so exhaust mods are a plus. I would like the option to put stock(more comfortable) seats though. I’ve never had one with a clear cover. So I’m wondering about the missing insulation of stock cover. Positive being you can see the engine, negative being missing insulation and possibly hotter cabin as well as sound deadening ???? More maintenance to keep it clean (because you see it now) Finally “I have to say it” 1) The Dealer put the range 1 over rev’s on the DME on the car. Look at the hours? 2) Gotta admit If the clear cover was showing off upgrades to plenum and throttle body it’d might be worth the effort. Otherwise just the clean stock cover and carpet looks better. Just my opinion of course. I still bid on the car ???

@CabiglioGarage We are a dealership so we do not need to register cars. It came out of California to us. Mods were done within previous ownership.

@sclinch1 The clear engine cover adds a bit of noise from the engine. However, as an enthusiast, I love it because it gives you an amazing noise from the air intakes.
NHP valved exhaust is installed on this car. No drone with it on the highway

No track time on this car. Previous owner just like having a fun backroads car.
How is noise in the cabin with the clear engine cover? Which NHP exhaust/version is this? Is it valved and operational for quieter/louder selection with a transmitter? Any drone appreciated? Specifications on the seats for driver height compared to stock seats? I'm 6'3" and fit well enough in the standard 987.1 seats, but always wished I had an extra inch with long legs. Headroom never an issue with the bubble roof. Thanks! GLWTA

Seems like there are always multiple 987.1 manual Caymans for sale at any given time, but only a few 987.2 manuals come up each year.
Improved engines, improved styling, low supply, high demand…this should do well.

@wadds1971 factory seats and engine cover are not available. If the seats are an issue, you should be able to find a set of factory seats for this car no problem. Plus these sparco seats are worth some good money.
If you're located in seattle and a serious buyer, you could always come stop by and see if these seats work for you!

minor detail, the 2009 and up base models are not direct injection, just the S models. GLWS.
@gomotors - Very nice-looking Cayman S you've presented here, and it's even on the "left" coast, for a change, which is great to see. The thought of avoiding any shipping charges is very appealing on any car auction, and being just north of Seattle makes that a possibility for me.
But, a couple of questions:
1. Is there any chance you still have access to the original seats for the car? My 6'4" will fit inside this car just fine, but my 240 lbs. are probably a bad fit for those Sparco seats.
2. Do you still have the original engine cover available? The clear cover may have some novelty value, but I'd prefer to have the nice carpeted standard cover in place.
Absent those parts, I'm going to have trouble bidding hard for your car. I hope you can provide some suggestions and help in the next few days.
