Up for auction is this 2014 Ferrari 458 Speciale finished in Bianco Avus over a black leather interior with white contrast stitching. The 458 Speciale was introduced in 2013 as the high-performance version of the 458 Italia, featuring improved active aerodynamics, forged wheels, a lightweight interior, higher engine output, and revisions to the F1-Trac traction control and E-Diff differential systems. This well-equipped 2014 example features a front suspension lift system, Advanced Frontlighting System (AFS) headlights, carbon-fiber exterior accents, and an aftermarket Frequency Intelligent Valvetronic exhaust system. Showing just over 7k miles on the odometer, this 458 Speciale is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida on a rebuilt title.

The 458 Speciale features unique bodywork that sets it apart from a standard 458 including specialized composite front and rear bumpers, dual air extractors on the hood, and louvered air outlets next to the headlights. Active aerodynamics include flaps at the rear of the car that automatically deploy as conditions dictate, as well as a speed-activated front lip spoiler. The integrated rear spoiler promotes downforce while the exhaust pipes are positioned higher to allow the fitment of a larger rear diffuser, helping push more air out from the underbody.

This Speciale comes finished in Bianco Avus (100) with removable carbon fiber and gold accents laid over the factory-applied Grigio Corsa racing stripes. The rear diffuser comes in an optional exposed carbon fiber finish along with the air flaps and rocker panel fins. Additional exterior details include optional Advanced Frontlighting System (AFS) headlights, fender-mounted Scuderia shields, matte black Ferrari badging, tinted taillights, and exposed carbon-fiber mirror caps. The yellow-painted brake calipers of the Brembo carbon-ceramic braking system can be seen through the spokes of the 20” forged gold wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. This 458 was involved in an incident in 2018 causing damage to the front bumper, hood, and driver-side front fender. Over $44k worth of OEM Ferrari parts were used to repair the damage and a rebuilt title was issued as a result. Repair invoices are provided in the photo gallery along with the CARFAX full report. The seller describes the exterior to be in very good condition overall, benefitting from an application of ceramic coating.

The interior of this Speciale is upholstered in Nero leather with white contrast stitching and carbon-fiber trim. Sabelt carbon-fiber-backed bucket seats feature embroidered Ferrari emblems on the headrests. Carbon fiber trim lines the dashboard, instrument cluster, door panels, center console, and door sills. The leather-wrapped steering wheel features carbon fiber inserts and shift paddles as well as integrated shift lights, a red ignition button, and the Manettino dial for adjusting the stability and traction control programs. Instrumentation consists of a central 10k-RPM tachometer flanked by customizable digital displays. Driver’s amenities include a navigation system with Bluetooth connectivity, Ferrari’s Telemetry program for recording track data, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview parking camera, and a front suspension lift system. Wear is present on some of the buttons and control panels.

The Speciale shares its naturally aspirated 4.5L V8 engine with the standard 458 Italia, but with upgraded internals and revised tuning for an output of 597 HP.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 7-speed dual-clutch F1 transmission with an electronically controlled rear differential (E-Diff) and F1-Trac traction control system.  Weighing in 200 lbs. less than the 458 Italia, the Speciale can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in approximately 2.8 seconds while reaching a top speed over 200 MPH.  A slide-slip angle control system (SSC) is utilized to improve control of the car along with adjustable magnetorheological dampers, and carbon-ceramic brakes derived from the LaFerrari. An Fi Valvetronic exhaust system has also been installed for increased sound and performance. The CARFAX report shows a history of maintenance including service by Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale and a recent oil change and inspection by Ferrari of Miami.

This sale will include a rebuilt title. The last of the mid-engine Ferraris to feature a naturally aspirated V8, this rare and well-optioned 458 Speciale presents an excellent value.

@sh4ftBAT Great Speaking with you over the phone. Thank you for your interest and participation. I will go ahead and address some of the questions as best as possible based on the sellers response.

  • sh4ftBAT (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Motorsport1821 Have you seen/filmed this car yourself? What is the exact current mileage? It seems impossible that it's traveled 2 miles since June especially considering the footage you shared of it moving....?

  • Motorsport1821 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@sh4ftBAT Good Afternoon, We were told by the Owner of the car that MC Customs was the Collision Center to Perform the re-assembly. Let us reach out to the owner to see if we can get some clarity and paperwork on this, and we will get right back to you. Thank you for letting us know of this.

  • sh4ftBAT (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Motorsport1821 Julio and MC Customs did not work on this car. Collection of Miami did indeed do an oil change and full inspection (as receipt in gallery indicates) but were not even aware that the car was a Rebuilt Salvage....

  • sh4ftBAT (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Motorsport1821 I'm now on the phone with Julio, the owner of MC Customers who also has no familiarity with this car. He's just put me on hold to try to gather more information.

  • sh4ftBAT (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Motorsport1821 I just contacted MC Customs and was told "all we did was paint the wheels" - ok this is officially the most bizarre auction I've ever participated in....

  • Motorsport1821 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@sh4ftBAT Thank you very much. We look forward to seeing the Next Owner enjoying the car, and putting some miles on it. Thank you again, best of luck bidding! :)

  • Motorsport1821 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@mee418 We appreciate your opinion. Enthusiasts that are familiar with these cars know what they are buying. Parts Receipts have been provided to show the level of detail and what has gone into the Re-Assembly process.

As Previously mentioned. This car was Re-Assembled by MC Customs (A Collision Center that is Ferrari familiar with these cars). Again, we highly encourage anyone that is interested to reach out and schedule a PPI with a Local Ferrari Dealer or an Independent Trusted Ferrari Specialist.

Thank you very much for your interests! :)

CA SALVAGE CERTIFICATE shows online when you look it up on POCTRA. It also has photos of the damaged car so you can see what it looked like before it was repaired.
    https://poctra.com/2014-FERRARI-458-SPECIALE/id-AOOr7VUcBXYMObMD/NORTH-HOLLYWOOD-CA/Photos
    The CARFAX shows
    SALVAGE TITLE/CERTIFICATE ISSUED
    REBUILT TITLE ISSUED.
You have to own this car cheap because between the Title and the photos of the damaged car on line it will be a tough car to resell when you are done playing with it. Unless someone makes a track car out of it. That is where alot of Rebuilt and Salvage cars end up

  • sh4ftBAT (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Personally @Whyme 's comments have been extremely helpful. I'm putting in my one-and-only bid, knowing I'll likely lose - but the car is just a good finished product to enjoy and drive hard, this is not a collector's Ferrari. Cheers.

  • Whyme (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Motorsport1821 honestly I do not think your doing anything malice. I’m totally willing to admit I could be wrong about a lot of parts being or or not. I wish your seller would be more upfront about all the parts/repair. If these was a clean title car your pushing close if not over 500k in todays value. Salvaged title redone extremely well vastly OE parts can still command very good solid money. I believe this was done very well and I would be a serious buyer just need more info. My other concern is the slight mileage rollback. At time of salvage auction is verified/documented/pic and recent docs/pics show a slightly different number. It’s not a big. It is going in reverse though????
I’m willing to pay your local Ferrari dealership to pick it up and to a full PPI but I’ll step it up and ask for an hybrid classice certification inspection. Obviously it won’t qualify but that’ll pretty much check every body panel, Carbon, pretty much anything that has a Ferrari stamp/code etc…I’ll post all the results publicly for everyone to see but in return you need to at least tell me the bottom dollar your willing to accept. If it a number I feel is reasonable then I pay for the $3000-4000 PPI inspection. You run the auction with the reserve set at the number you told me and we see what happens. I can’t manipulate the outcome of the auction and if no one bids I know what it’ll take to buy it. If people like the PPI report and it goes beyond your min then I have to bid against everyone else.

  • Motorsport1821 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    to ALL Potential Buyers:

Best way to JUDGE this very Special, Highly Optioned SPECIALE would be

to Arrange a PPI from any South Florida FERRARI Dealer

-This way, you're a 100% sure of what you're buying!

There are NO Aftermarket Parts besides the already mentioned:
    -Frequency Intelligent: Valvetronic Exhaust System

    Original OEM Ferrari Carbon Fiber

I'm sure any FERRARI Dealership would Authenticate this in their PPI.

    -Happy Bidding

@ACSATCO I’m sure many appreciate the link. I also dug a bit deeper and found hammer price at auction, who may have purchased it etc.. regardless who ever put it back together did a decent job. @motorspory1821 unfortunately I think your going to loose a lot of potential buyers without pulling together a more comprehensive list of everything minus what you have shown. Maybe your client that is trying to sell through you doesn’t know or doesn’t want to disclose everything.
I’m not going to publicly post anything that can’t be found through normal channels. But a lot of parts were scavenged off the car before it left the auction, all the carbon engine components, original seats are no longer in car, wheels where replaced, some other items are also missing. The carbon that is now in the engine compartment doesn’t appear to be OE carbon. The air box carbon is a mismatch, the other covers appear to be incorrect also. If you pull them off on the underside if OE you will find a traditionally white sticker with identifiable markings that is under the epoxy. Probably a few other stickers should be present with markings also but a lot of times they are not laminated into part. I think pulling the full story together could vastly increase your odds. A lot also depends on what you and your seller really have to have to let it go. I really do hope you sell it and get what you need out of it but my gut is telling me it won’t hit the reserve and/or your seller is hoping to get lucky. I say lift the reserve and tell everyone you have no idea has or hasn’t been done. What OE parts have or haven’t been used it and it is what it is, so you don’t have to potential stake your reputation on a car where the seller is unable to disclose everything about the car. For all the potential buyers I say put a bid in and hope you get lucky because regardless of the salvage title, unknown stories, unknown parts this would be the ultimate car to have depending on price. Just drive the thing so hard and never have to worry about the ultimate value cause it’ll never be a collector grade car. Just keep her fluids up to date, but lots of tires and have fun!!!! I have a number in mind I’d be willing to pay sight unseen if this doesn’t sell and the seller is more than welcome to contact me post auction.

The sticky buttons are a non issue imo cause if this car was/had/is left outside in the hot Florida sun and/or Cali sun the buttons would deteriorate much faster than a car no left to soak up that much heat. Regardless it’s a 458 speciale! It appears by the parts list it has hit pretty hard up front. At least hard enough to blow the front airbags.
Parts list seems pretty comprehensive for all the “cosmetic” repairs that would be needed. I’m not trying to discredit the seller at all!!! So please don’t take offense. What I don’t see is the any parts regarding the front subframe assembly. If the hood and all the trunk components were damaged and replaced then my GUESS is that at list a part of the subframe assembly must have been bent. The tiny subframe cross members for the luggage compartment, hood, fenders, lights etc. Were probably damaged. In minor cases they can be bent back by an experienced shop if minor. If significant than it’s way easier and cheaper to just unbolt it all and replace it. Sorry but I have to ask it also seems possible that if hit hard enough the main support tubes could have been damaged. There suppose to take the majority of the impact and those are easily replaced also. If they were tweaked in anyway that usually ends up messing with at a min the control arms, ball joints etc.. worst case the entire suspension and steering systems. I’m not saying any of this happened and it could have been a 5mph hit and 99% of damage was cosmetic only. Unfortunately I experience with all these types of repairs cause I raced the 430, 458 and now the 488 evos in the challenge series and had to do multiple front end repairs on my cars from a simple bumper cover to comply with Ferraris rules that even cosmetic damages need to be repaired after the most minor damage (expectations is cars are visually perfect, except for road debris, stickers etc) to an entire front end rebuild and even rear end rebuild. I’m personally very interested in this car and to show my good faith I’ll even start the bidding that I’m in no way trying to discredit the seller. It just seems odd that an insurance company would total a car for in the Ferrari world what would be considered “minor repair” I’m no insurance professional but if I was an insurance company insuring a near 400k car I would never total it out for cosmetic repairs. Even if every corner was hit and it cost 150k to replace the entire body I’d still rather have it fixed???? Now if many suspension damage along with all possible brake rotors, wheels, ancillary systems all hidden in the truck that could be worth totaling. I had the entire front end of my 458 replaced at it cost almost 150k and that didn’t include the rotors and front shocks cause almost all of us have multiple spares of those in hand and ready to go by our race teams. If not it would have snuck up on 200k.
I’d like you to get the most out of the car so before and after pics would be helpful to all.

  • Motorsport1821 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Kleht This Car has NEVER had any fire or Flood. Ferrari's and Maserati's were using the same Materials for their Buttons and Switches at that time, even back till the Ferrari 355's & 348's in the Early 90's. The Materials and finished used at that time even till recently is not able to endure any sort of Heat nor Humidity. We've seen cars that have been kept in storages for several months and years without being temperature controlled and this has happened. This is extremely common when it comes to these cars. Everyone uses StickyRx out of NY (https://stickyrxrs.com) to get their interior trims Re-Finished. We'd be happy to connect any potential buyer with Dave Lelonek from StickyRX, so that they can get an overall idea and understand why this happens and how this problem can be resolved. Please feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.

@sh4ftBAT Yes, very common problem with Ferrari's and Maserati due to the materials and paint used, which i am sure you are familiar with. Please feel free to let us know if you have any additional questions.

Ferrari buttons have always sucked, just like GM buttons. Forget the buttons. What is this car worth with a Branded Title. How about a whole bunch of pictures of the wrecked car, and a whole bunch of pictures of the car being rebuilt. No good way to price this car without documentation pics and an in person look. Values are up on these 458's but a big question mark on this pickle.

  • Kleht (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    Hi
Couple things. Why buttons seem like car there was mild fire inside or flood. Not the look of interior with less than 10k miles? Is it possible to come look at the car and do inspection. ?
