It's always funny to see cars you owned all the way across country being sold again. My Dad was owner #2 with the service done in San Diego and Costa Mesa. Truck was awesome. we loved it, It did throw random CEL at times and was kind of a pain in the butt, We were never able to find out why it had the branded title either. Other than the fact it threw random CELs for nothing and continued to run fine. Which for a car like this Im sure Mercedes was willing to buy back. The G65 is unlike any other G wagon.

Even though it's post-bidding I appreciate all the comments, especially the funny ones. The concern is understandable which is why I purchased a four-year warranty when I bought the vehicle, of which 3 years remain. While many see this as a grocery getter this truck is a beast.

@GrandNatty This is where you are completely wrong. No collector is buying g65 the people who buy these buy them to get over rough terrain or African warlord. Im telling you when i was in the market for one i needed something to not only drive in downtown Sandiego but to traverse through Mexico into south America. If you think we buy these cars to "collect" you are grossly wrong.

@Devil_Dog_Ultra - naw. Why pay nearly the same price for a “branded” title 2x (buy back and $40k accident) when $10k more gets you 30 percent less miles and clean title. The collector won’t take this one at this price. You can easily google price for all sold G65s in public markets. The facts are the facts. The comps are the comps. A g65 owner is a picky collector. It’s a lot more than a 63 for a car the punter can’t tell from a 63.

@GrandNatty I would strongly dispute this comment. As a g63 owner i can tell you most buyer could care less about accidents or buybacks. You buy a vehicle like this because you not only want to survive an apocalypse but you may want to run over a pack of dolphins. In all seriousness, the g65 is rare and with rare cars its hard to get buyers sometimes. When i was in the market for my Gi would have easily paid 100k for this but no g65 was even for sale at the time so i settled for the 63.

According to the "other big auction site" a 30K no accident, no-buy-back G65 sold for $110K in July of 2023, a second one was bid to that level. 50% more miles, a buy-back and an accident w/ nearly $40K in damage should bring the close price down to below $100K.

@GrandNatty $38,288.50 which included everything to be repaired, replaced, the towing, labor, parts and in order to replace the wheel that was damaged, I had to purchase an entire set of the wheels and have them powder coated to match and I still have 2 additional wheels for the vehicle brand new in box not mounted. The rear wheel was curbed decently badly so I replaced that wheel with one of the wheels from the set that was purchased. Hence why there are 2 spare wheels to the vehicle at the moment.

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

@GT3lover9 - Total cost of repair?

  • GT3lover9 (seller) 2 monthsago

@GrandNatty No suspension damage at all. Receipts were forwarded to insurance and not to myself. The wheel was cracked but did not hit any suspension parts, brake rotor or caliper. Just the wheel and tire were replaced since the wheel was cracked beyond repair and the tire had a blow out on the sidewall.

  • GrandNatty (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

@GT3lover9 - no suspension damage if wheel hit? Have receipts? Which fixed? Which replaced?

  • GT3lover9 (seller) 2 monthsago

@GrandNatty The vehicle had a front passenger side accident where the front bumper, bumper guard, fender and front wheel were all fixed and/or replaced by an authorized body shop with all OEM parts. I do not have pictures from after the accident.

@GrandNatty There are no service records or issues filed with any service center or Mercedes Benz dealership stating there was a cause for the buy back. No Mercedes Benz dealership is still currently able to provide any documentation or knowledge of the buy back. I have contacted multiple dealerships asking for the reason or cause and have not had any luck getting a response that clarifies it.

  • GT3lover9 (seller) 2 months, 1 weekago

@bjurban the dealership was unsure of what the buy back was for but the vehicle has not had any issues since owning it nor does it currently. I have asked multiple dealerships what the cause of the buy back was including the dealership that sold and serviced the vehicle originally back in 2016 and they were unaware there was even a buy back on the vehicle.
