Representing the final year of Porsche’s 981 generation, this 2016 Boxster GTS comes finished in Carmine Red over Black leather and Alcantara upholstery as part of the GTS Interior Package in Carmine Red. It also features a PDK transmission, Black Satin-painted 20” Carrera S wheels, ParkAssist, Power Steering Plus, and the Infotainment Package with the BOSE Surround Sound System. Acquired by the seller in 2019, this example is now being offered for auction out of North Carolina with approximately 17k miles showing on the odometer.

The GTS comes standard with model-specific front and rear bumpers, black headlight surrounds, “GTS” side logos, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and dual center exhaust outlets. This example comes finished in Carmine Red and features 20” Carrera S wheels selected with a Black Satin finish. One of the headlights were replaced in October 2021, and a set of Pirelli P Zero tires from 2021 were mounted in July 2022 at 14,597 miles. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting damage in November 2017.

Inside, the driver is situated within a Black leather and Alcantara interior featuring the optional GTS Interior Package in Carmine Red, adorning model-specific appointments and deviated stitching throughout. Additional options include instrument dials in Carmine Red, front and rear ParkAssist with a reversing camera, and the Infotainment Package with the BOSE Surround Sound System, including Online Serviced, CDR Plus Audio, and a navigation module. An NM Automotive system has been added, incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Power is derived from a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine, driving the the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. The GTS received an increase of 15 HP over the standard Boxster S, bringing the total output to 330 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque. Stopping power is provided by red-painted four-piston calipers and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. Standard performance features of the GTS include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), the Sport Chrono Package, and Sport Exhaust. Since the seller’s acquisition, an ignition coil was replaced in November 2020 and the battery was replaced in December 2020, along with changing the spark plugs and carrying out an oil change in January 2024.

This sale will include a clean title and a toolkit.

The seller would like you to know:  “Hi everyone…thank you for taking an interest in this 981 GTS. I would like to share that it’s been a pleasure to own for the past 5+ years since I purchased it in May 2019. The car has been kept inside the garage year-round and all the scheduled services have been done as required by Porsche at the local dealership. There’s a yearly service required by Porsche and every four years there’s an intensive service required (this was done in January 2024). I also had the dealership do a yearly detail on the car. I have meticulous service records since taking ownership in May 2019 so if you have any questions please let me know and I will do my best to address them. It’s a fun car to drive and the Carmine Red stands out…especially at night! Good luck to everyone with their bids and again, I appreciate you taking an interest in this beauty."

Are the door windows and the top not aligning properly? Each window seems to be fitting into the roof guides slightly differently. A shame that the leather dash is failing. Almost as much a shame as the seller claiming 'they just noticed it' despite being asked about it in the previous BaT auction. The 981 GTS is a special Boxster, but this one does seem to have a few question marks that the seller could be more forthcoming with the details on and would go a long way towards helping reach the price he's seeking.

I figured this was destined for deal tank the moment it posted after BaT. @EJR2 seems a combination of the "moderate damage" ding on the carfax (without a clear backstory as to what repairs were made) and the uncertainty around the warping of the leather dashboard and its cost to repair. Winter season may be of impact as well perhaps.

If this goes here it’s a great buy. Any thoughts why lower than others that have sold recently?

Looks like the warped top of the dashboard was also noted in the BaT auction.

Does anyone have any idea what it would cost to replace the dash ?

@Dakar911 No problem! Actually hadn’t noticed it until the photographer took the photos :) Sorry no idea…

  • Dakar911 (registered bidder) 4 weeks, 1 dayago

Thx! Wow, the dashboard looks quite distorted. Is this recent or was it there when you purchased the car? Any idea if there is a way to fix it short of replacing the whole dashboard?

@Dakar911 - Hi…not sure but you are probably right. I’ve kept the car inside the garage year round for the past five years so maybe just some hot days? I’ve added some additional photos..the original ones were from a professional photographer.

  • Dakar911 (registered bidder) 4 weeks, 1 dayago

May I ask you to provide additional pictures of the dash? There seems to be sun-induced bubble? Can you comment on it?

@Ram3k - Hi! I can only share what’s in the car fax report. It comes up as “Damage reported 11/07/2017” and the report states “moderate damage - left side / rear”. I bought the car on May 31, 2019 with ~4800 miles on it and it has ~17,100 miles on it now. I’ve driven it ~12,300 miles over the past 5+ years and am happy to report there weren’t any problems! :)

  • Ram3k (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Can you comment on the damage from the accident ?
