Available for auction is this Backdraft Racing RT3B 1965 Cobra replica finished in Royal Grey over a black leather interior. Established in 2001, Backdraft Racing is a Florida-based builder of high-quality custom Shelby Cobra replicas and has become one of the foremost names in the industry. This example (#1708), was completed in 2018 featuring a Ford small block 427 V8 paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission as well as a carbon fiber dashboard, a diamond stitched interior, and the special Blackout package. It was acquired by its current owner out of Pennsylvania in 2020 and is now being offered for auction showing under 3k miles on the odometer.
Backdraft Racing Cobras use a rectangular steel ladder-style frame with a front crush zone and a hand-laid reinforced fiberglass body. This example is finished in Royal Grey with black and red over-the-top racing stripes, protected under a layer of 3M Invis-a-Shield film. Details include LED headlights with black bezels, a vented hood, and vented fenders with 427 Backdraft, badging, a black driver’s side roll bar, side pipes, bumper overriders, a driver’s side mirror, and 18” matte black wheels. A collection of detailed images can be found in the gallery.
Inside, black diamond-stitched leather covers the bucket seats, transmission tunnel, and door panels contrasted by red stitching. The dashboard is constructed from custom carbon fiber and houses a suite of custom instrumentation and a pushbutton starter. Other details include a leather three-spoke steering wheel with a Backdraft Racing horn button, custom floor mats, racing harnesses, and a Hurst short shifter with a carbon fiber gear knob. The seller reports all gauges and electronics remain operational.
Power comes from a 427ci Ford small block V8 engine with a Holley Sniper Electronic Fuel Injection system. The seller states as much as 522 HP and 522 lb.-ft torque are sent to the rear wheel by way of a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission. In May of 2022, the car passed Pennsylvania state inspection and received a tune-up according to the seller.

This is a fun car to drive and sounds fantastic. The Cobra is an eye catcher and shows very well at car cruises.
