The first mid-engine Ferrari to use a turbocharged V8 since the legendary F40 supercar, the 488 debuted at the Geneva Auto Show in March of 2015 and was announced “Supercar of the Year” by Top Gear magazine as well as Motor Trend's "Best Driver's Car" of 2017. This 2018 open-top Spider version showcases a Rosso Corsa finish over a black leather interior and features optional carbon fiber interior and exterior trim, a front suspension lifter, front and rear parking cameras, sport exhaust pipes, and more. Showing approximately 29k miles on the odometer, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

Designed by Flavio Manzoni, the bodywork of the Ferrari 488 produces 50% more downforce than its predecessor the 458 Italia by using a new integrated rear spoiler, double front splitter, a larger rear diffuser, and a central “Aero Pillar” that guides air along the underbody. This Spider is finished in traditional Rosso Corsa with optional red brake calipers, carbon fiber rear air ducts, carbon fiber side air splitters, sport tailpipes, and Scuderia fender shields. A set of 20” 5-spoke wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Minor paint imperfections are noted, and additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cockpit presents black leather with deviated Rosso stitching as well as optional carbon fiber trim spanning the central bridge, dashboard, and driver zone with LED shift indicator lights along the top of the steering wheel. Other options include embroidered Cavallino Rampante emblems in the headrests, a front suspension lifter, and front and rear parking cameras. The seller notes minor leather shrinkage, and detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The 488 Spider is powered by a mid-mounted 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing up to 661 HP and 561 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by a 7-speed F1 dual-clutch transaxle, which allows the 488 Spider to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in around 3 seconds with a claimed top speed of 205 MPH. Performance equipment includes Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes derived from the LaFerrari hybrid hypercar, a magnetorheological active suspension, an E-Diff3 electronic limited-slip differential, and Ferrari Side-Slip Angle Control advanced traction control. The CARFAX report shows three service entries, including an oil and filter change carried out by Ferrari & Maserati of Newport Beach, California, in March 2021.

This sale will include a clean title.

@Rford75578 just two small chips in the paint on the inside of the rocker cover/door jamb. Everything that comes with the car is photoed. May have some spare tenders around and if so will throw one in.

Can you please explain on picture 189 what looks to be 2 small holes in the red body below the F and e on the kick panel?

Also did you confirm the battery tender is with the car?

@cooler2442 no, one owner in SoCal

  • cooler2442 (registered bidder) 10 months, 3 weeksago

Thanks @wob. Was this car a rental?

  • wob (seller) 10 months, 3 weeksago

@cooler2442 Mario is correct. Ferrari and I would say the majority of dealers here in SoCal want little involvement in reporting to CF.

@mariodesmo #69 very tiny scuff, can see if the detailers can polish it off. #119 is a minor shrinkage in under the dash gauge hood. If you own any 488 you will have to fix this piece a few times over time as every single Ferrari will have some leather issues. There are two pieces of foam which meet there. Not a crack and only seen if looking at a certain angle from outside the car towards the gauge hood.

cooler2442 - Ferrari privacy policy is to not report services performed on client's cars to public services.
The owner can get records from Ferrari.

If this has the free maintenance on it why wasn't it serviced/showing up on the Carfax at Ferrari dealers?

  • mariodesmo (registered bidder) 10 months, 4 weeksago

Photo 69 shows what looks like either a crack in the drivers front splitter, or a black line from a scrape. Can you confirm what that is?
Photo 119 seems to show a cut. Is that on a seat? Can you confirm where and what that is?
    Was this car a rental?
    Thanks

    Battery tender included in sale?

  • wob (seller) 11 monthsago

Excited to bring this one to market! Red on black, spider, the right amount of carbon and no carbon in high wear zones on the exterior. Just a really thoughtful and awesome spec. Plus, holy cow, it looks great!

@flat6fan you may be thinking about older Ferraris. Newer cars like the 488 are dual clutches which do not wear and not maintenance items. Also 30k service is not a bad service at all both in scope and especially not in cost. One of the best parts of these cars is that they carry 7 year free maintenance plans from the factory. So 30k miles or 130k miles - if its within 7 years, bring the car into Ferrari and they take care of the service, for free.

@dpma the best news about is that I'm not sure I have seen a modern Ferrari out of service due to the free maintenance program. I've requested the records for you, but with free service even the brokest Ferrri owners have freshly serviced cars ;)

  • Flat6fan (registered bidder) 11 monthsago

Can you provide a clutch reading for this car?
Also, is the vehicle due for it's 30K service ?? not yet performed???....cuz it's a big one!!!

  • dpma (registered bidder) 11 monthsago

Are there any service records since March 2021? Please provide. If not, please provide the 3/21 service invoice.
Does the battery tender come with the car?
