Finished in GT Silver Metallic, this 2018 Porsche 991 GT2 RS features the optional Weissach Package which provides a lightweight carbon fiber roof panel, front lid, and anti-roll bars. It also sports a full carbon fiber trim package as well as optional lightweight magnesium wheels and a front axle lift system. Cared for by its second and current owner in California since late 2019 and previously listed on PCARMARKET, this GT2 RS is now being offered for auction with just under 4,500 miles showing on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in GT Silver Metallic with a painted stripe bisecting the exposed carbon fiber hood and roof panels. Characteristic details of the GT2 RS include carbon fiber side air intakes, vented front fenders, side skirts, a fixed rear wing, NACA-ducted hood, and front fascia with large air intakes. This example rides on optional lightweight 20/21” magnesium wheels finished in White Gold Metallic with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires dated from 2018 in front and 2020 in the rear. 3M Crystalline window tints have been applied as well as a removable red pinstripe on the hood and roof. The seller adds that the full exterior has been preserved under clear paint protection film since new. The CARFAX shows damage to the front end in 2021 that is said to have resulted from a factory-certified repair to the shock tower.

The black and red leather and Alcantara interior features a pair of lightweight bucket seats with deviated red seatbelts and “Weissach RS” logos embroidered in the headrests. Equipment includes full carbon fiber trim, a front axle lift system, Bose Surround Sound System, a fire extinguisher, and a luggage net in the passenger footwell. Aftermarket carbon fiber floor mats have been fitted as well.

The twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 700 HP and 553 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is achieved in as little as 2.7 seconds with a top speed of over 210 MPH while stopping power is handled by Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). The CARFAX report shows routine dealer maintenance including service at Porsche San Diego in 2021 at 4,193 miles.

This sale will include a clean title.

@Utahcraft your guess is as good as mine as to why Porsche would not take responsibility for this issue. It happened under normal street use. Trust me, we tried to have Porsche cover the repair. It is a known issue yet they will not offer a recall or fix if it happens.

The car was offered for sale at Pagani of Beverly Hills on consignment in 2022. That is where we purchased it from in 2019 where it was sold on consignment from the original owner. The car has has two owners since new.

We took the car back from the dealership when we found out that the Carfax report was erroneous so that we could have the report corrected and not affect the sale of the car. As mentioned previously, it is unknown how long the process will take for Carfax to get their facts straight so we decided to offer it for sale with an explanation of events.

Any serious buyer is welcome to come and inspect the car in person and verify any/all information that is being discussed.

@delanodp That is what happened and it is very disappointing that Porsche is not standing up and taking responsibility for this design flaw in these GT cars. They have changed the design in the 992...that should tell you something.

Sorry, I meant Pagani of Beverly Hills…..

@ikonic Acouple of questions. What was the cause of the strut tower failure? Wondering why it was not covered by the factory warranty and was instead a $50k insurance claim. Also, car was offered for sale by Beverly Hills Bugatti in June of 2022. Is that when you bought it? You are now the third owner? If so, have you not Re-registered and titled it since then? GLWTA

    Hello all,

I'm happy to answer any questions leading up to the auction close.

To answer the question by @delanodp, the car was purchased new from a dealership in NY. It was registered to the first owners "company" in Montana but the car has been in CA since new. We purchased the car through Pagani of Beverly Hills. The clean title is in hand. As for the Carfax report, all I can say is that it is not accurate. We have a case started with them, however the timeline to have it corrected is unknown. The report was inaccurate following the repair as it showed the areas affected incorrectly. We requested that they correct the error and we are just finding out that they actually made it even more erroneous showing that the damage is "severe" rather than "minor" as well as incorrect areas of damage highlighted. Carfax is an absolute joke of a company.

The paint is all original except for where the strut tower was repaired underneath the plastic that is under the front hood. The repair was a very expensive repair because every single parameter and spec was checked and verified to be in factory specs. That is what comes along with a Porsche certified repair. If there is any question about what damage was repaired on that invoice that is shown, please call the phone number on the top of the invoice for the repair and ask for Ron Ruff. He was the contact at the repair shop for this job. I can assure you that the only damage this car has had repaired was under the plastic trim in the trunk.

The car is near flawless and now is no longer susceptible to the known issue in these models. The repair included a reinforcement brace to alleviate any future failures of this nature.

I will add photos to the gallery of the car on the day of the strut mount failure so that it can be seen that no other part of the car was damaged. The car was able to be driven to a turn out where a tow truck was called and the car was towed to Porsche from there.

I know that the history report will affect the sale, however the person who ends up with this car will be getting a GT2RS that is near flawless and is better now that the manufacturer defect is resolved.

Can seller post the details of the damage to the car? Given the rarity of this car and the likely high price I think that can only help regardless of what the facts are.

Strange listing. Multiple states on the Carfax, one reporting minor damage, one reporting severe. Repair records would indicate the latter and no description or explanation of the weird reports or damage history. In fact the only mention of the Carfax report is this "The CARFAX report shows routine dealer maintenance including service at Porsche San Diego in 2021 at 4,193 miles and some mention of a dealer certified shock tower repair...". "Cared for by the current owner since 2019" - does that include the $59k repair in '21?
